At least 260 staff and campers - HALF under age 10 - were infected with coronavirus at a Georgia sleepaway camp where children were not required to wear masks

At least 260 campers and staff members became infected with coronavirus in June at a Georgia sleepaway summer camp believed to be in Lake Burton (pictured). Camp employees were required to wear cloth masks but campers were not. Health officials say large groups of children slept in poorly ventilated cabins and likely spread infectious droplets in the air while singing or cheering. A teen staff member first came down with chills on June 22 and the camp was ultimately shut down on June 27. Of those who tested positive, 51 percent were children between ages six and 10. It comes as President Donald Trump and even some doctors push for K-12 schools to reopen, arguing that infections are uncommon among children.

Still what I want to konw is how many people would have died {the statistics for a normal year} if there were no
Covid !9 ???

Another words bleak as the picture looks, and probably is, is it really that bleak???

Or, would say 25 thousand people would have died anyway from age, disease, etc. ???

Is it safe to say, that if there were no Covid-19 then all those that have died from Covid-19 would likely not died this year?...
...

Not necessarily - Some, especially older and people with underlining medical conditions would and will die in any year.

A few months ago when I was wondering about IF we were not overreacting, I did some research and came up with things like:

"Worldwide deaths by cause

Nearly 150,000 people die per day worldwide, based on the latest comprehensive research published in 2017. Which diseases are the most deadly, and how many lives do they take per day?

Here’s how many people die each day on average, sorted by cause:.............

Keeping Perspective

While these numbers help provide some context for the global scale of COVID-19 deaths, they do not offer a direct comparison.

The fact is that many of the aforementioned death rates are based on much larger and consistent sample sizes of data. On the flipside, since the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11, 2020, daily confirmed deaths have fallen in a wide range between 272 and 10,520 per day—and there is no telling what could happen in the future.

On top of this variance, data on confirmed COVID-19 deaths has other quirks. For example, testing rates for the virus may vary between jurisdictions, and there have also been disagreements between authorities on how deaths should even be tallied in the first place. This makes getting an accurate picture surprisingly complicated.

While it’s impossible to know the true death toll of COVID-19, it is clear that in some countries daily deaths have reached rates 50% or higher than the historical average for periods of time:

0O5SUMKrsoqYmk7MHeJNvn227t42AS6cOf5MC6Qe4_s.jpg

Time, and further analysis, will be required to determine a more accurate COVID-19 death count.

Quore source:
Global deaths: This is how COVID-19 compares to other diseases

See what I mean ? A lot of the older people with underling conditions may have died anyway - Even a common cold
virus might finish someone off who is already seriously health compromised or old.

The big question still is, is this Covid 19 plague really as deadly as it is being reported to be?

Most people who get it still recover from it.

The Spanish Flu of 1918 is already history and if the statistics are accurate killed 50 million people

- As of 'now' I don't think Covid is nearly that deadly or dangerous - Still.......??????

What has changed in Melbourne as Stage 4 coronavirus restrictions take hold?

An overnight curfew is among the latest restrictions placed on Melbourne to fight its growing coronavirus contagion. Melbourne has entered Stage 4 coronavirus restrictions as of 6pm on Sunday night, the strictest level of lockdown yet in Australia. Further restrictions will also be enforced on regional Victoria, including the Mitchell Shire, which will move to Stage 3 restrictions from Wednesday. The restrictions will be in force for at least six weeks until 13 September.Premier Daniel Andrews has also declared a State of Disaster across the state from 6pm tonight.

With high levels of community transmission, including 760 current "mystery cases" in Victoria with no known source of infection, drastic steps were necessary, Mr Andrews said. “These are significant steps and not taken lightly. It's very challenging. It's exactly what we have to do,” the premier said on Sunday. “[It was] a six weeks versus a slower strategy... that takes up to six months.” “I'm not prepared to accept that or accept days and days and days of hundreds of cases and more and more death.”

The changes announced on Sunday apply to how Victorians live, with further restrictions around work and business to be revealed on Monday. Metropolitan Melbourne becomes the first region in Australia to be placed under Stage 4 restrictions. The most significant of these is a curfew enforced from tonight, with residents barred from leaving their homes between 8pm and 5am. During these hours, the only reasons to be outside of your home are to give or receive care, or go to and from work.

Outside the curfew, people will only be allowed to leave the house for four reasons: purchase food and and necessary supplies, exercise, give or receive care, or work. “Going to a mate's place, visiting friends, being out and about for no good reason, all that will do is spread this virus,” Mr Andrews said. Additionally, residents will no longer be able to travel further than five kilometres from their home, unless the reason is to give or receive care.

Only one person per household will be allowed to go shopping once per day, though caregivers and those assisting elderly residents are exempt. People will be able to bring dependent children with them if they are unable to leave them unattended at home.

The five-kilometre limit won’t apply to shared custody arrangements or those visiting intimate partners. The limit also does not apply for those going to work, while those studying must do so at home.

What pandemic? Outrageous scenes at Bondi as HUNDREDS of revellers pack the beach for an impromptu party - despite Sydney's desperate efforts to avoid a Victoria-style second wave

Disturbing scenes have emerged of Bondi Beach packed with hundreds of Sydneysiders and tourists just months after similar scenes sparked its sudden closure. Hundreds flocked to the iconic beach on Sunday to soak up the winter sunshine as New South Wales battles to avoid a second wave of new coronavirus infections. The concerning crowds came on the same day Melbourne was forced into stage four lockdown after 671 new cases and seven deaths were recorded on Sunday. The carefree crowds appeared to have no regard for social distancing guidelines during the ongoing pandemic as they mingled and sat closely together in large social gatherings.

Millions of over 50s could be told to stay at home to avoid a blanket second lockdown under 'nuclear plans' drawn up by Boris Johnson after bubble bursts on easing lockdown

Millions of overs 50s could be given orders to stay at home as part of Boris Johnson's 'nuclear plans' to avoid another national lockdown. In a more 'segmented approach' to dealing with future lockdowns, people aged between 50 and 70 would be given personalised risk ratings - taking into accounts factors like their age and conditions - and asked to shield in the event of an outbreak. The plans could prove controversial as the factors under which the elderly could be asked to self-isolate might be more heavily influenced by age than clinical vulnerabilities.

The advice for shielding was only lifted on Saturday for those in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and remains in place until August 16 for those shielding in Wales. It comes after Mr Johnson was forced to announce a slow down of the lockdown easing on Friday, with planned relaxations for the leisure and beauty sectors delayed after a rise in Covid-19 cases was recorded, with prevalence in the community thought to be rising for the first time since May.

Northern towns hit by new mini-lockdown never got first wave of coronavirus under control, experts warn amid fears of a 'dangerous' second spike

Northern towns and cities hit by new lockdown restrictions never recovered from the first wave of coronavirus, experts have claimed. Data, published by Public Health England, suggests the average rate of infections across the affected areas in northern England has been much higher than the rest of England. While the national average peaked at 7.2 cases per 100,000 by late April, the northern lockdown zone reached an average 9.3 cases per day for every 100,000 people.

Devi Sridhar, chair of global public health at Edinburgh University, told the Sunday Telegraph: ‘The virus has always been there. It never went away. ‘We have been running at quite a significant level of community transmission.’ Data from Public Health England shows the infection rate in the areas affected by the new lockdown restrictions has rarely fallen below three per 100,000 while the national average dropped to beneath one per 100,000.

On Thursday, the Government announced new lockdown rules for millions of people living in Greater Manchester, parts of East Lancashire and West Yorkshire. The rule dictate that members of different households may no longer meet each other inside their homes or gardens as well as public places such as pubs and restaurants.

People Are Now Praying to ‘Goddess Corona’ in Attempt to Stop Pandemic

India is one of the most affected countries by the Covid-19 pandemic, and people are turning to spiritual and divine powers in an attempt to protect themselves from the new coronavirus.

Last month, Indian media reported on a group of women from a village in West Bengal who had decided to fight the coronavirus in their own way – by worshiping Corona Mai, or ‘Corona Goddess’. They set up a small shrine on the banks of Chinnamasta pond, near Asansol city, and started singing songs and mantras, burning incense and bringing offerings like fruits, vegetables, ghee, and jaggery. The women said that they planned to worship and pray to the goddess until she takes away the coronavirus. That may take a while…

goddess-coronavirus.jpg

“We hope that Corona devi ensures that the virus leaves us forever,” a 23-year-old worshipper told The Hindu. “Our offerings and chants will win us some respite from the virus.”

Worshipers of Corona Mai range from women in their early 20s to old ladies in their 70s, and they all believe that the best way to help fight the pandemic is to pray to the goddess until she decides to take the coronavirus away.

“We have decided to worship Corona devi every Monday and Friday till she becomes satisfied,” a 56-year-old woman said.

goddess-coronavirus3-750x422.jpg

But while this group of Corona Goddess worshipers from West Bengal set up a small outdoor shrine, one Kerala man set up a temple to worship a “coronavirus goddess”. As per Hindu traditions, which promote seeing a god in every molecule around us, Anilan Muhoortham, from the town of Kadakkal, worships coronavirus as a goddess.

“I have established this temple for Goddess Coronavirus in accordance with the constitutional freedom to worship. Goddess Coronavirus is being worshiped here,” the Kerala man said. “I dedicate the temple to those health workers, scientists trying to find vaccines, police-fire & rescue officers, other media personnel, journalists and expatriates reporting the information in real-time.”

Anilan is obeying the social distancing rules, so whoever wants to make an offering to he Goddess Coronavirus via his home temple can do so by courier or post. Or they can just call him to have the prasad delivered.

Thousands protest against coronavirus restrictions in Germany

On Saturday, a gathering of approximately 17,000 people marched in Berlin, Germany, to protest against coronavirus lockdowns with signs saying ‘The end of the pandemic - freedom day.' Demonstrators said face masks and other lockdown orders violate their rights. Protesters danced and sang "We are free people!" to the tune of rock band Queen’s We Will Rock You, and "We are making noise because you are stealing our freedom!", according to BBC. Our demand is to return to democracy,” said one protester who declined to give his name, BBC reported. “The mask that enslaves us must go.” Police filed a complaint against the organizer for failing to ensure that marchers wear masks and followed social distancing measures. Some politicians criticized the protesters. “They not only endanger our health, they endanger our successes against the pandemic,” tweeted Social Democrat co-leader Saskia Esken.

Navajo farmer Tyrone Thompson is on a mission to help people return to their roots of farming.

After decades of forced relocation, assimilation and federal food distribution programs the Navajos relied less and less on the land for food, according to NPR. Thompson has taken to social media to teach traditional farming techniques like how to layer organic matter to turn dry clay into rich fertile soil. The Navajo Nation is a food desert, according to The U.S. Department of Agriculture. People travel up to 40 miles to get their groceries, but if they listen to Thompson they won’t have to anymore. “As we see the shelves emptying of food and toilet paper we kind of reconnect to our roots," Thompson says. "Some of the tools that were given by our elders and our ancestors — our planting stick and our steering sticks — those are our weapons against hunger and poverty and sickness." Researcher Brandon Francis says more people are staying home and farming now. "There has been a surge in interest," Francis says. "Seeds were hard to come by. They flew off the shelves just as fast as toilet paper did."

Anti-mask conspiracy theorists have reacted to Victoria's declaration of a State of Disaster, immediately vowing to defy Melbourne's new coronavirus curfew. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews declared the State of Disaster on Sunday afternoon after 671 new coronavirus cases were found, bringing the state's total to 11,557 of which 6322 cases are active. People in Melbourne's metropolitan area are now subject to a strict night-time curfew from 8pm to 5am.

Consider this:
Healthy humans 'harbor an average of five viruses'
"It is well established that our bodies possess gut bacteria that is beneficial for health. Now, researchers from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, have found that our bodies are also home to an average of five viruses responsible for numerous illnesses, although it is unclear whether they have positive or negative implications for health.

“Most everyone is familiar with the idea that a normal bacterial flora exists in the body,” says study co-author Dr. Gregory Storch, a virologist and chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the university. “Lots of people have asked whether there is a viral counterpart, and we haven’t had a clear answer. But now we know there is a normal viral flora, and it’s rich and complex.”.........

So maybe Covid 19 is, in many people, like asymptomatic carriers, is just a natural, and basically harmless, virus.

IF this is true - Maybe what shoudl be found out is why some people do not react, or react only slightly to it
- And why some become deathly ill ?????

Certain foods, such as peanuts, are healthy and harmless to most people - For those with peanut allergies even a small amount of peanut can be fatal.

Is Covid 19 really all that dangerous to most people? - Or is it just dangerous to some who react, or overreact to it ???

So maybe Covid 19 is, in many people, like asymptomatic carriers, is just a natural, and basically harmless, virus.
Viruses are natural entities, so therefore is Covid (assuming it is not an escaped Chinese experiment). There are reports that many asymptomatic patients may nevertheless have hidden lung and heart damage from the virus, and possibly autoimmune disorders as a result as well.

IF this is true - Maybe what shoudl be found out is why some people do not react, or react only slightly to it
- And why some become deathly ill ?????
There is a lot of ongoing work at this moment attempting to answer that very question. There are known risk factors: advanced age, male sex, obesity, co-morbidities such as hypertension, kidney, heart and and lung disease. But some people without any identifiable risk factors get severe illness. It is likely that if your body is in oxidative stress, then you will have a worse outcome than if it was not.

Is Covid 19 really all that dangerous to most people? - Or is it just dangerous to some who react, or overreact to it ???
Many will not be affected all that much by it, but you do not necessarily know how bad you will get it until you do get it (which might also depend on the initial infective dose of virus you receive: less virus initially, less severe illness).

The number of coronavirus patients in intensive care in Belgium has doubled in the span of a month, according to AFP. Officials said that the virus is spreading "intensively" in the country. AFP reports that the country had one of the highest per capita rates of infection in Europe during the height of the pandemic, but eased lockdown restrictions in May. Tougher lockdown measures are being reintroduced, including in the port city of Antwerp. "We can see that the virus is circulating intensively in our territory. The numbers continue to rise," federal virus taskforce spokeswoman Frederique Jacobs said, adding the most of the newer cases are from young adults. "The number of people admitted to intensive care has doubled since the beginning of July," Jacobs said, according to AFP. According to Johns Hopkins University, Belgium is closing in on 70,000 total cases, and has more than 9,800 deaths.

COVID-19 could lead to hearing loss

Although it has already been established that COVID-19 survivors can lose their sense of smell and taste, doctors in Britain warn that some could also lose their hearing. Experts at The University of Manchester studied 121 adults at the Wythenshawe Hospital, and eight of the patients reported having trouble hearing two months after being discharged from the hospital. “We already know that viruses such as measles, mumps and meningitis can cause hearing loss and coronaviruses can damage the nerves that carry information to and from the brain,” Kevin Munro, a professor of audiology at The University of Manchester, told the Mirror. Munro added that the virus could also impact pre-existing hearing loss and tinnitus, saying that there is an “urgent need for high-quality studies to investigate the acute and temporary effects of COVID-19 on hearing and the audiovestibular system.”
