a slight peek Beyond the Veil

I’m reading The Conquering Tide: War in the Pacific Islands, 1942-1944 by Ian Toll and that has absolutely nothing to do with the paranormal. In early ’42 about the only immediate advantage we had was cryptanalysis; code breaking. This book explains how some very clever and dedicated people in Hawaii were deciphering the Japanese naval code JN-25. Anecdotally and maybe not surprisingly, musicians made excellent analysts in an era in which ‘computing’ meant house sized card punch machines. Human talent and organic computing power was necessary.

I was going to quote two particular pages but figured what the hell, just post them. The reason I am doing this is of paranormal bent. I hesitate to use the word ‘spiritual’ and would definitely not use the word ‘religious.’ I have always felt that sometimes we get a slight peek Beyond the Veil and I’m not really sure what that means or how to quantify it. A synchronicity, some odd premonition, a curious set of circumstances that give my brain a tickle and makes me think that there is something going on just out of reach.

When I started reading about traffic analysis and cryptanalysis – two related but separate things – I saw some parallels to what I have been thinking. We know for a fact in this historical case that there was a real stream of coded information to be examined and that the more of it we had the more of it we could read. And at its best we weren’t reading it word for word, and at best there was still a formidable language barrier that left interpretation highly subjective, but reading enough to make an educated guess. I am trying liken that to personal experiences and mediumship. I believe there are misguided people prone to belief, I know there are obvious charlatans and hoaxers, but I also believe that if we rendered the fat there are a number of people who have had experiences which are difficult to explain yet don't generally hold up to objective scrutiny. In an odd way maybe we throw children with detailed past life experiences into the mix. The analogy to the code breakers is that maybe there is some extremely obscure stream of information that some of us occasionally tap – which maybe does nothing other than to make you aware of its existence, which is about where I am right now. Maybe there are those like musicians or people who can devote the just the right resources to occasionally glean something a little more substantial from the mix, like Rochefort and Holmes.

I've recently heard a Radio Misterioso episode about retrocausality and in layman's terms, maybe we're just getting snippets of information from ourselves at a different point in time. Frankly, there are too many people using theoretical physics as a wand to wave at whatever theory they happen to subscribe to and I don't want to be one of them. physics might be the Key to the Universe but overall it bores the living crap out of me. I mention this to suggest that there might be an esoteric but perfectly natural explanation for the occasional 'peek.'

I guess this is just rambling but it’s a thought I have been trying to express for a while.

More out of the box thinking - probably the cat box - but here you go.

The 'stone tape recorder' notion that physical events make some sort of impression that will show themselves from time to time - a ghost that goes through the motions without any interaction - is interesting to me. So is the notion of retrocausality which if I understand correctly means a different perspective on the passage of time; we're getting impressions of ourselves from different points in our lives.

I got to thinking about some of the weirder UFO pics, specifically today Hannah McRoberts. So here's my wildass speculation: maybe once in a while we are seeing physical craft and once in a great while capture one on a piece of film or with a digital camera. But maybe they are just us from a different point in time - look close enough and the McRoberts object might just have the blue Ford oval on it. It's occupant had a moment of dizziness and he thought he saw something weird and maybe the autonomous flight systems threw a code or an idiot light that the dealer will have to sort out.

    Just speculating for boredom's sake.

Actually the idea that some UFOs, maybe, are time travelling devices from the future, has been around a while. The witnesses at Rendlesham seem to think it a good idea. And there are a couple of possible time slips where witnesses have seen futuristic cities with circular craft coming and going..

A popular theme in science fiction in general.

Rendlesham is something that sounded cool to me at one time but as time has passed I have come to believe their story less and less - because it has become embellished to a ridiculous degree.

The two main witnesses come over to me as genuine, and I know that other witnesses (notably the local gamekeeper and a local woman) saw the object descending into the forest. But I think that the AFOSI quickly muddied the water with crazy contact stories and the whole affair was not well handled by the ufologists of that period.

The strangest thing about it was that Jenny Randles, usually fairly sensible, described it as a UFO Crash Landing, when there is nothing in any witness description consistent with that interpretation. One can only think that the early theory that "an aircraft had come down in the forest" had somehow influenced her thinking.

maybe it has something to do with the rumors that surfaced very very late after the story and were most likely hoaxes that talked about recovered alien bodies?

There was certainly a lot of disinformation being spread early on, then the nonsense about numbers of air force officers going out to meet visiting aliens. I would focus more on the evidence that odd things were happening in that area long before the USAF were based there -- Bruni quotes a few and I heard about odd vortexes being seen in the forest.

This thread wasn't about Rendlesham. I have moved that case into my circular file.

More just general speculating on stuff and things.

Retrocausality and entanglement sounded cool to me but I'm just a nitwit listening to a podcast while I'm farting around in the garage. Too many people casually toss around quantum physics as the supporting explanation for pet theories and I don't want to be one of them. What it did get me thinking about was the nature of consciousness. If the odd synchronicities, occurrences, precognition etc really are us somehow occasionally tapping into a stream of information then what is the source of the Cosmic JN-25 equivalent in the first place?

Is this like having a fish in a tank that sometimes becomes aware of the noises from the nearby TV? How could anyone explain what a TV is, who Oprah is and oh by the way, what the rest of the world really is? The fish just doesn't have the equipment to process that kind of information - but is dimly aware of it at some level.

Is it a facet of ourselves and perception of the passage of time that physics might explain? Or is it us tapping into something much larger than ourselves that we are only a small part of, that maybe one day after we drop dead our consciousness will continue to exist?

I think it is a mistake to think that physics will explain every type of phenomenon; some events will probably always lie outside its boundary conditions, or are rejected because they can't be reproduced in the laboratory. Your second possibility is more likely, I would say.

that area is a hotspot, i have heard of other UFO sightings and even some monster sightings there
