Alec Baldwin interview with Stephanopoulos will ‘come back to haunt him’ in court

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin’s decision to sit down with George Stephanopoulos following the fatal "Rust" set shooting was a massive mistake, according to Fox News contributor Leo Terrell.

"One of the biggest mistakes Alec Baldwin made was to go on George Stephanopoulos’ program and say he didn’t pull the trigger. That was a lie," Terrell told "The Faulkner Focus" on Thursday. "I guarantee you that’s going to come back to haunt him."

Terrell said Baldwin and the set armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed both had an "affirmative duty" to inspect the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and is the reason their conduct has risen to a level beyond simple negligence. The two were charged with involuntary manslaughter on Thursday in the deadly incident.

He also asserted that the Gutierrez-Reed cannot escape her "sky-high" duty to collect and handle weapons on the movie and ensure the safety of cast and crew members.

'This decision represents a terrible miscarriage of justice': Alec Baldwin vows to fight involuntary manslaughter charges over Halyna Hutchins' death

Alec Baldwin vowed to fight involuntary manslaughter charges over Halyna Hutchins' death and branded the prosecution 'a terrible miscarriage of justice.'

It was announced that Baldwin, 64, and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 25, will be charged with involuntary manslaughter Thursday, 15 months after the 42-year-old cinematographer was shot dead by the actor on the set of Rust in New Mexico.

Baldwin's attorney Luka Nikas hit out, claiming 'this decision distorts Halyna Hutchins' tragic death', and doubled-down on his client's previous protestations, saying the actor's colleagues 'assured him the gun did not have live rounds.'

'We will fight these charges, and we will win,' the lawyer stated.

But Mary Carmack-Altwies, New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney, promised that Baldwin would not get 'a free pass', accusing the actor of running a 'fast and loose set' plagued by safety issues.

Baldwin has continually laid blame at the feet of others since accidentally shooing Hutchins dead on October 21, 2021.

It still boils down to, if you are holding a firearm it is your responsibility to check if it is loaded and with live rounds. Also, he is the person producing and directing this movie. You can’t just blow off the blame.

Better late than never and better than nothing. Still, New Mexico is a poor state and the defendants can easily outspend the prosecution.

Hopefully Baldwin will become persona non grata after this, you know he'll dodge anything serious. A $5000 fine ? How did they come up with that ridiculous number?

I have a feeling that Baldwin will use the defense that he has eight children and a wife. Who will feed the family if he is behind bars.

My brother and I taught his grandson, my great-nephew that HE is the safety. The little button or whatever is a long second.
.... and we did it with Daisy Red Ryder BB guns.....

** OK, a little divergence that could go in the PC Madness thread. The single action revolver that Baldwin used to kill that young woman has to be cocked every time. A double action revolver is one that does not. It has a long heavy pull to rotate the cylinder or it can be cocked for a much lighter trigger pull. Point is, they don't have safeties because they don't need them. On a DA revolver that long heavy pull prevents accidental discharges - that is the inherent safety. Until several years ago Senator Hillary Clinton decided to go on a 'fill in any detail about guns that we can legislate away to make everyone feel better but accomplish nothing' jaunt and unfortunately Smith and Wesson knuckled under. A shame, S&W's are my preference. They added a small keyhole under the cylinder release that in the history of Ever has Never Ever accomplished one single thing except to make the guns that preceded that change much more valuable. It is universally called The Hillary Hole

Easy fix: remove sideplate and remove the hammer. You will see the "flag" that sticks up and locks the hammer. It has a little nub of metal that faces the hammer, this is what locks it when engaged. File the little nub down flat with a file, now your revolver is lock-free. Also file away the word "locked" on the other side of the flag so that it won't cause anybody to think the lock is functional. reassemble and you're GTG. Did this to my 637 before I ever fired a round and it has been flawless, the gun is totally functional even with the flag up. Love that little wheelgun, I've shot it so much I had to replace the springs because they were just worn out!

I've taken both our hunting safety and concealed carry course. And my kid will too as soon as she is old enough. She already can carry a rifle through the woods more safely than alot of adults.

I’ve been through the springs at least twice on my 686 & 629. Lots and lots of mileage on those two. I have a 317 with the lock but on that one, bah, just a fun plinker. Needed a good chamber polish though. Sticky extraction. Doesn’t even feel real it’s so light

Those 317's are sweet but way overpriced and have a 50 pound trigger pull.
I bought it to coregister with my wife so she’s licensed in case I drop dead. No legal encumbrances. I may have stoned that one a bit, don’t remember. Trigger’s not bad. The extraction problen is a known issue. Been using wool mops loaded with mag wheel polish on a drill. Shined it up and it helped. I don’t even remember where or when I bought it much less how much :). I’ve got a nice custom 3” round butt magnaported model 66 that will be getting some PF love when it warms up.

That one’s a keeper. At some point soon I’m going to set up on Gunbroker. I sold 4 milsurps and some antique ammo privately but handguns are another matter. I love my Coonan but it has to go I just can’t deal with that titanic wrist breaker anymore. 1943 RR 100% original 1911A1 and an original Colt m1917. Only way to do it is GB and tgat just looks like a p.i.t.a

I've sold many handguns on GB. Other than whatever requirements that the DPRNY imposes on you it works the same as any other sale there. Long as it ships to an FFL holder you're GTG. You may want to explore consigning guns at shops too. I imagine those milsurps would bring a pretty penny, especially because everything is more expensive to begin with where you live. There is one shop here that specializes in high end and collectible guns and they have a clientele with really deep pockets.

Mrs. Baldwin was out to buy coffee and she was wearing slippers. What, no coffee maker at home? She also requests privacy from the press by speaking in Spanish. Give me a break!

Alec's basking in his own stink-cloud of arrogance. Hilaria is doing her fake Spanish accent again. So how fitting they are finished in the court of public opinion after a young mom's death

Over the past three days we've been treated to Hilaria's pap walks - I mean, someone in that $16 million dollar apartment, staffed with nannies and God knows how many assistants, has to go out and get the coffee, am I right? - wearing $300 slippers and another sweatshirt reading 'HUMAN' and on Monday, a hot pink hoodie reading 'BOUNDARIES ARE HOT.' Know what else is hot? A criminal justice system unbowed by celebrity. No matter how this trial plays out, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin are already suffering. They have done themselves deep, irreparable reputational damage, treating the accidental death of a young wife and mother, at Alec's hands, as some kind of tabloid joke. In the days after Hutchins's death, Hilaria posted this: 'Parenting through this has been an intense experience, to say the least.' Alec and Hilaria haven't begun to experience intense. Intense will be that criminal trial in New Mexico. Intense is the very real possibility of going to prison. Intense is trying to sell off all their most valuable real estate - they just price-chopped their beloved house in Amagansett by $4.1 million and are quietly shopping their NYC pad - and moving to Vermont, which isn't really a hotbed of paparazzi. Intense will be losing much of Alec's fortune to legal fees.
