Amazon has now passed 100 million subscribers for its Prime loyalty shopping program, underscoring its growth as an e-commerce, cloud services and streaming media behemoth. But it’s also looking beyond the internet, at more traditional ways to reach consumers.

An industry source claims that Amazon is interested in making a buy in TV home shopping. Specifically, we’re told there have been acquisition discussions between Amazon and Evine Live, which operates a pay-TV home shopping channel of the same name. Another source also heard Amazon was one of several companies potentially interested in buying Evine.

If you are in location where your packages are being stolen it could be a smart option.. otherwise no need.

Perhaps as long as it's not a drone dropping them off, but I can't envision a scenario where this is prudent?...

Fratty and out of touch.
I worked at an Amazon fulfillment center for 4 years. The only reason I toughed it out that long was because the company periodically gives out stock awards (Amazon stock is worth a lot of money) and I wanted to receive the big 4 year payout.

I considered it a good day at work when I didn't see the EMS people parked out front with flashing lights. They work people to death. Every horror story you've ever heard about Amazon is absolutely true.

I had a friend who lived in Seattle and worked at their corporate office. She told me the environment there was just as brutal as their warehouse culture.

Amazon Is Eliminating Bonuses, Stock Awards

Amazon.com Inc. is eliminating monthly bonuses and stock awards for warehouse workers and other hourly employees after the company pledged this week to raise pay to at least $15 an hour.

Warehouse workers for the e-commerce giant in the U.S. were eligible in the past for monthly bonuses that could total hundreds of dollars per month as well as stock awards, said two people familiar with Amazon’s pay policies. The company informed those employees Wednesday that it’s eliminating both of those compensation categories to help pay for the raises, the people said.

Amazon received plaudits when it announced Monday that the company would raise its minimum pay. The pay increase warded off criticism from politicians and activists, and put the company in a good position to recruit temporary workers for the important holiday shopping season.

Even after the elimination of bonuses and stock awards, hourly operations and customer-service workers will see their total compensation increase, the company said in a statement.

“In addition, because it’s no longer incentive-based, the compensation will be more immediate and predictable,” Amazon said.

Workers whose pay was already above $15 per hour will get hourly raises of $1, according to two people familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified discussing the company’s compensation practices. Some long-time workers expressed frustration that their raises are small compared with newly hired workers who will see hourly pay bumps of as much as 40 percent.

I read yesterday that one of the Supermarket chains here that as well as delivering your shopping they are now going to offer a service of putting your shopping away for you if you are out at the time.

They will wear body cameras to ensure they do not get up to no good while you are not in which you will be able to review the footage at a later date if required.

I understand that Amazon works their employees (office or warehouse) like dogs. Any compensation they can can get would be well worth it.

They took away the monthly bonuses and stock rewards and options for all employees in order to pay new employees more money per hour...They screwed over their longer term employees royally...

Isn’t that the way it normally works? Long time time employees get the short end of the stick.
