API Case Files

I am one of the producers of the API Case Files podcast, although Marsha Barnhart does the bulk of the work. The podcast consists of regular magazine-style episodes and Conversations, which are 1-on-1 discussions with leading thinkers, writers and researchers. At present, there are 13 episodes and 11 Conversations (two with Cheryl Costa).

The Episodes focus on our own investigative work on real cases. Often, you will hear the witness tell the story in their own voice (audio is always used with permission, and real names are not used). We also talk about how we investigate, and go deep into what we are trying to accomplish and what the long term strategy is.

We are also eager to answer listener questions on the show. You can leave a question or comment here, and we will get it answered, as Episode 14 is now in preparation. You can also call 240 233 1253 and leave a voicemail, and we'll play (a possibly edited version of) your question on the air. You don't need to give your real name unless you want to. If you just want to comment on something we said on a previous show, that is ok too.

If you have a firsthand account of a UFO sighting you want us to report on on the show, then go to reportaufo.org and fill out the form there, and we'll look into it. We rarely if ever comment on raw or second hand reports.

As Above So Below
That's great, I'm going to start with Episode 13 this afternoon whilst having lunch...:)

On an upcoming episode, I hope we'll get to go back and revisit one of our earliest cases, number 12-001, which took place in 2008. The hotel security video we surfaced went viral, and resulted in a lot of discussion, most of which was deeply uninformed. IF you have questions about this, we'd like to know.

We're working to redact the Report of investigation (ROI) to publish on our website.

OK, let's start with Episode 1. This is still our most downloaded, which I largely attribute to Antonio Paris' promotion with his large social media following, and the fact that we had popular author David Marler on for part 1 of a discussion about triangle UFOs. The conversations with David was over 80 minutes, so we broke it up into 2 parts.

Here's the episode outline:

  • Intro
  • 2013 Cases in Review
  • Part 1 of Interview with David Marler, author of Triangle UFOS: An Estimate of the Situation
  • Unidentified Science
  • Investigator's Notebook
  • Questions from Listeners
  • 20 second recommendations
  • Final thoughts - APICon 2014

OK, continuing our guided tour of API Case Files with Episode 2, which came out in February of 2014 and was hosted by Marsha Barnhart. The main features were a lengthy discussion of API's approach to abduction cases, and part 2 of our interview with researcher and writer David Marler. Marler is the author of Triangle UFOs - An Estimate of the Situation.

Short segments address the Report of Investigation, and why there is no ET hypothesis. We also answer listener questions and make some short recommendations.

Continuing our guided tour, and moving on to Episode 3, which came out in March of 2014 and was produced and hosted by Marsha Barnhart. The show starts off profiling one of the weirdest 2-witness cases we've ever investigated, 14-027, and the profile includes audio from both witnesses. To this day, I don't know if believe these guys or not.

There is a also part 1 of a long conversation between two wavering skeptics, an essay about perception and memory and how they form the bulk of UFO evidence, some more current case discussions with Lawrence McNeill and Nancy Doty, and a conversation with Antonio Paris about his latest book.

Continuing our guided tour of API Case Files, we have Episode 4. The Episode came out out in June 2014, and was produced by myself and Marsha Barnhart and hosted by Marsha and Antonio Paris. It's about 73 minutes long.

We start off with encouraging people to report their UFO sightings to us, and then Marsha reviews where we are on cases so far for the year.

Then, there is a discussion with biologist and scientific imaging expert Robert Kolb about UFO photography. Sadly, Dr. Kolb went the way of all flesh about a year later.

There is a brief appearance by Norio Hayakawa, talking about his plans for an upcoming conference.

Then, we have part 2 of a conversation with an anonymous skeptic.

Antonio Paris talks about the investigator's toolkit.

Unidentified Science addresses the question of what if what we are studying is smarter than we are?

We wrap up with 20 second recommendations, and then some final remarks.

Episode 5 came out in September of 2014, and was produced by Marsha Barnhart. The hosts were Marsha Barnhart and Antonio Paris. The whole episode is 106 minutes. We hadn't kicked off API Conversation yet, so Marsha's longish interview with NARCAP executive director Ted Roe starts off the episode.

The Ted Roe conversation is followed by a discussion of recent cases, then Antonio Paris' Investigators Notebook.

Unidentified Science #5 talks about the Virtue of Skepticism.

Episode 6 was produced by myself, and came out in December 2014. Duration was 69 minutes.

Most of the episode is a roundtable discussion about some of the recent case, and a discussion of some of the serious problems we face as UAP investigators, These include the lack of good videos, the proliferation of fakes, and high strangeness and physics abuse.

Unidentified Science #6 addressed the way we have tailored the Probability/Strangeness matrix for our cases.

If you didn't catch the other thread, there is a new API Conversation up. This time we go back 37 years for what I think maybe an important and overlooked historical document cases. Simone was there, and she documents to back up here story.

Conversation 13 – Simone Mendez

I listened to the episode yesterday and can't disagree with the conclusions. Seems like a poor kid caught up in something stupid. Only reason I can think of is dye run through the system to check for leaks.
Couldn't help but note that she was a very pretty young woman at the time and apparently naive - wouldn't be the first time someone like that attracted unwanted attention. Maybe it was as simple as Airman Green trying to impress her or something similar.

EDIT - didn't see the other thread and haven't had enough coffee yet to figure out how to delete this and repost over there .....

Yes, I have seen better pictures of the young Simone Mendez and she was quite attractive, and one wonders if this wasn't a suspicious girlfriend throwing the whole IC operation into chaos. It's possible that the FBI agents had no idea what was going on, and were just conducting a routine investigation.
