If its not ET theres 2 possibilities left that are usually brought, in addition to the magical seeming ones, which i wouldnt yet entertain, since all that could be explained by advanced enough ET tech.

Someone on this planet came up with this revolutionary tech, a government or a private group of individuals, decades ago no less and has been very succesfully hiding it, while we have climate change going on and need new energy solutions. And that is a huge crime! And this explanation has its share of problems in the bigger UFO history.

Or the debunkers have been right and everyone has been mistaken(except them of course) and a modern myth that has arisen has taken a life of its own to confuse us all. Some have tried to explain the Nimitz or the east coast case away by saying all these multiple people and equipment got it wrong, at the same time no less, repeatedly, how convenient. Does this explanation explain it all, i wonder? Or is it in some cases a handwave?

Or maybe its explanation 4. All above are happening at the same time, little bit of this, some of that. Theyre not after all mutually exclusive explanations. I feel like this last one is the closest one to the truth. Most (80-95 percent) of it is delusion, myth, mistakes or hoaxes, some are secret military craft, and just perhaps a little part of it comes from elsewhere, most likely off world, and it confuses and scares the heck out of the governments. Because among the the endless speculation about morlocks, atlanteans, demons, fairies, time travellers, matrix keepers and dimensional gods, it is the most plausible one still, extraterrestrial visitors.

People claim to see faeries, the Virgin Mary, goddamned evil clowns, Slenderman and Elvis.
The volume of sightings doesn't make them real. With UFOs proof seems to be in the eye of the beholder. Ideally the 'proof' would be simple enough to explain to your grandmother.

Elvis sightings are actually a bit different. Probably true secret of Area 51.

EDIT - I do think UFOs deserve serious study but tell me how that's all worked out over the years. Ufology has proven to be an interesting exercise in human social behavior patterns. What has been shown is that the great percentage of sightings can be explained and no matter what some percentage never will be - not because they are so mysterious bu because there just isn't enough meat on the bone to draw any conclusion.

We dont have government programs and top secret classified papers about fairies, Virgin Mary, evil clowns, Slenderman and Elvis though.

If anyone thought such things could render an advantage there would be. In fact, in terms of studying mass panic and psyops there probably are. One other difference is that UFOs are violating our airspace so we expect some reaction from those tasked to deal with that. Humans make claims about all sorts of things.

Come to think of it projecting biblical images during an amphibious assault was a hare brained notion out of the Bay of Pigs era. That was certainly highly classified at the time so yes, there probably are documents moldering away somewhere discussing the use of one icon versus another, what day of the week to project it, etc. But since that apparently wasn't viable it likely ended right there. If we thought that projecting an image of a Godzilla-Jesus rampaging across Syria was to our advantage right now you'd better believe there would be a black budget dedicated to make it happen, along with the attendant acronym steeped programs. Of course if they really had one of those who could resist sending it out to shoo way those would-be Area 51 invaders?

So when you render the fat are we being visited? I think so, but rarely. Why? Who the hell knows - speculate all you like. By definition it's an extraterrestrial intelligence of some sort at work whether one is physically present or not so their motives are a total crap shoot.

Does the military and it's trusted contractors have much more and better data than we have seen? Sure. But 'the military' isn't a monolithic entity and even if TTSA really did provoke full disclosure I'm not sure how you could ever know that you really 'got all of it' and that parts weren't held private by those with the latitude to do so. And if we had all the good radar data, incident logs, pilot debriefings and the like - what would we do with it? Probably find other things to fight over.

My attention gets lost when someone tries to explain to me that UFOs/UAPs are human craft from the future...That cannot account for the non-human sightings and contact reports and abductions...Also if future humans were time traveling back to our time period I doubt they would want to make themselves seen or known...I really think the future human visitation theory needs to sink to the bottom of Lock Ness where ole Nessie is...lol

The cosmic trickster theory is still the most absurd theory to me lol...
