Bat-like Flying Humanoid Sightings Continue to come from Chicago's Little Village

Two new sightings of the bat-like flying humanoid that has been haunting Chicago since early 2017 have been reported in the city's Little Village neighborhood. The sightings were reported to Manuel Navarette of UFO Clearinghouse on September 20th and 21st, respectively, but occurred earlier in the month.

The report submitted on September 20th actually took place on the 16th, according to investigators.

"This report was submitted to UFOCH on Wednesday September 20, 2017. The actual incident happened on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at about 10 o’clock in the evening. A UFOCH investigator did talk to the witnesses and the investigators notes will appear below. The original report was submitted in Spanish," said Navarette.

Here's the report of September 20th, along with the investigator's notes...They do not say how large this bat was...

We were walking back from visiting a family members house when we saw what looked like a large bat fly over our heads and continue down the street. As we continued walking, we saw that the bat had landed on the ground across the street from the tiendita (convenience store) on the corner of Ridgeway and 24th. We also noticed that it was looking right at us as we walked toward the intersection, it was very easy to see it with the lights. As we got nearer, we saw someone come out of the tiendita across the street and this thing turned its attention toward the person, who saw it and screamed and took off running. It was then that it turned back to us and opened its wings and took a step toward us. My sister and I did not stand around to see what was going to happen next and took off running back toward 23rd street. The family members house where we had come from was near the viaduct where the train goes over. This large bat let out a shriek and took off into the air, because it flew just over our heads and then landed about 15 feet in front of us on the road. It looked right at us and shrieked at us, at that time a car turned onto Ridgeway from behind us on 24th street. This bat took off from the road and took off, leaving us cowering on the sidewalk. We have never been so scared in all of our lives and we hate to think what would have happened to us if that car had not turned the corner when it did. The car continued its way, not even stopping and we headed back to our family members house and her son gave us a ride home.

Investigators Notes:

After receiving the report, an investigator did make contact with the witnesses and spoke at length with both of them via telephone. Both siblings spoke of the events leading up to the encounter, neither strayed from the story as told in the sighting report. Even after being questioned by the investigator separately they both told the exact same story with no embellishment. They have both agreed to meet with a field investigator to retrace the steps at the sight of the encounter, it will be scheduled at a future date and any information will be posted on the website.

It is the investigators opinion that the sighting appears genuine, but further investigation is warranted since the nature of the sighting is completely different than any of the others. Field investigators will be sent to the location within the next 72 hours to gather any additional data and to attempt to speak with people in the area in an attempt to gather more information.

If these reports are for real then there's really only two possible rationale explanations. Either we have some form of alien life that's arrived, which can somehow fly so it can't weigh a hell of a lot, no more that 20 lbs most likely, or else the beating wings would have to be driving along like a humming birds wings at a fantastical speed of 280 beats per second in hover, or else we have some kind of escaped or released genetic experiment of some kind.

Assuming this is for real has anyone else got any other ideas?

Well is at night time so that is a factor.
One must also consider the unreported sightings as well.

Fratty and out of touch.
If you believe the Mothman legend, these creatures are supposedly interdimensional and they can move in and out of our dimension, making them difficult to spot.

No easy answer, if the reports are on the up and up.
This type of problem has occurred with other strange creature reports as well.

Many people in a big city are busy with and distracted by the life going on around them...Its understandable to me that only a few have a ufo sighting for example when there could have been hundreds more who could possibly have seen it but did not for whatever reason...

I understand what you mean....but to me even if more people are busy and its night there should still be more than 2 people that see it.

Out of a group of any given thirty people on the streets of New York City how many do you think have ear buds in their ears and/or their eyes locked on their phones and what's in front of their path?...

Probably most of them....but there still might be some old farts like us that might be paying attention still.

Myself living so far from a big city the stars are many and bright here, I'm always looking up and out into the sky when I step out at night...I never let my dog outside by himself at night so I take that opportunity to look all around in our skies...Some day next year I want to purchase a new telescope...

Same here....I live in the country will less light pollution so we get some amazing stars. I'm out at night at times.....and due to coyotes people keep their pets in.

I remember the stars in Grand Canyon were truly amazing......especially from the bottom of the canyon when you only saw an 120 degree arc with the jet black canyon walls. The stars I saw at 17,000 feet on Mount Everest were beyond anything I will ever see again.

That's the main reason I don't let the dog out at night alone, coyotes, that and deer he might run after in the dark, he won't do that if I'm with him...

  • June 3rd, 2017--Two different couples see a large, bat-like flying humanoid in the Lincoln Park area.
  • June 17th, 2017--A jogger near the Navy Pier sees an enormous bat take wing and fly towards the water treatment plant.
  • June 23rd, 2017--A couple, along with a crowd of people, sees a large, black, bat-like creature with humanoid features near the Adler Planetarium. A second report received in early July confirms the sighting details of this report.
  • June 29th, 2017--A police officer, along with the officer's partner and a group of civilians, sees a "dark black shadow with wings" standing atop a building before taking flight in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of Chicago. An aspiring journalist later comes forward to corroborate the officer's story.
  • June 30th, 2017--A security person taking a break outside of The Owl sees a bat-like humanoid flying over an empty lot across the street.
  • July 1st, 2017--A witness sees two strange, red lights in a golf course that closely resemble reports of the flying humanoid's glowing eyes.

  • August 6th, 2017--Two concertgoers see a bat-like flying humanoid with glowing red eyes in Grant Park following the Chicago Lollapalooza.
  • August 9th, 2017--A couple are startled by a "large winged being...with bright red eyes" flying over Lake Shore Drive.

  • August 22nd, 2017--A truck driver sees a large winged being with "thick glistening hair" flying over the Chicago suburb of McCook.
  • August 22nd, 2017--A monstrous bat with a 12' wingspan is seen in the same area of McCook as the truck driver's sighting from the same day.
  • August 22nd, 2017--A bat-like "flying Mothman" is seen over Pulaski Road in Chicago.
  • August 28th, 2017--A delivery driver sees a "large man with wings" flying over the same area of McCook as the sightings reported on August 22nd.
  • August 29th, 2017--An avid bird watcher sees a "huge flying shadow" over a forest preserve near La Grange Park, a suburb west of Chicago.
  • September 9th, 2017--A group of friends sees a "black demon with large wings" in Chicago's Little Village.
  • September 10th, 2017--Two witnesses see an unknown being gliding across the sky several miles away from each other in the Avalon Park and Douglas neighborhoods of Chicago.
  • September 11th, 2017--A woman sees a "huge bat-like being" circling buildings over Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood.
  • September 12th, 2017--A woman walking home from work sees a "black devil" in Chicago's Little Village.
  • September 16th, 2017--A pair of siblings are terrified by a bat-like creature in the Little Village.
  • mid-September, 2017--A man preparing for work in Michigan sees a large, winged being perched atop his neighbor's roof.
  • September 23rd, 2017--A man and his friends see a "large bird-like entity" over Chicago's DuSable Harbor.
  • September 24th, 2017--A family on their way home from mass sees a red-eyed, winged "goblin" that gave off of a "strong sense of evil."
  • September 26th, 2017--A nightclub performer sees a "man-bat" crouched on top of a light pole in Chicago's West Lakeview.
  • September 26th, 2017--A woman and her son see a "monster bat" in their backyard, before it flies off.
  • October 7th, 2017--A witness sees a large, winged being flying in the River North neighborhood.
