No sound. Not even a breeze.

It was after midnight, in residential part of the city, the trees are very tall (spruce & pine) because they are quite old. The reason I mention the trees is because it looked to me as if it were no more than 100 feet above tree level. It then floated silently up and into the only cloud that was nearby. The cloud lit up the same color as the amber/yellow signal you see at the traffic lights. There were at least 15-20 other people standing there watching it. It was in July of 2ooo. Not a word was mentioned in any news papers or TV/radio broadcast news networks. I know because I checked thoroughly for the following 2 days.

That's interesting. Were you less than a mile away?

If you have ever watched a fighter (like an F16) take off you know how loud jets are.

Not sure how exhaust noise could be baffled effectively. If compressor/turbine stages are used that whine is hard eliminate.

With rockets the turbulence in the boundary between the exhaust and the surrounding air makes the noise, and a Mach 8 exhaust stream produces a lot of turbulence which makes a lot of noise.

Your information would argue for an unconventional propulsion system.

I was less than a city block away and then, I would say, 175-200 feet below it.

I kid you not, CasualByStander. It made no sound what so ever. Although to be clear, it was at a stand still and then just floated upward like a helium balloon.

I was on the tarmac and watched an F16 do touch and goes. That sound goes for miles and is unmistakable.

I'll have to look around and see what the sanest propulsion system is they might be using.

They have to be using fuel or a flammable working fluid or it wouldn't be on fire.

Yeah, I have seen and heard an F16. It's loud.

See, this is what freaks me out the most. I see and experience so much shit and just when I think I have discovered the rationale to one. It turns out that it was different. Here's another example of what I mean....

I was living in a Hi Rise building. My friend was visiting and we were talking about the meteor shower he just seen when he did his truck run from Edmonton to Vancouver and back again. I told him I had never seen a meteor fall, let alone a shower of them and I wished I had been with him to see it. Then he said he had to go down to his car and get another pack of smokes because he was on his last one.

The building I lived in locked the outer doors after 9pm so I had to go with him because it was after 11pm so he wouldn't be able to get to the apartment buzzers now. The river valley was to my right and his car was to my left. I told him I wanted to take a look at the stars so, I started to walk that way as he went the opposite way to his car. RIGHT THEN I saw a little light falling down from the atmosphere. I could hardly get the words out because it was such a shock. By the time I made any sense, it was gone. It happened really fast. He didn't see it.

When we got back upstairs I said that I thought that was one hell of a coincidence that we would talk about meteors and walk outside and boom there it was for the first time for me to witness. He kind of gave me a curious look and and said well it is cool that you finally got to see one but...if it wasn't a coincidence, what was it? I laughed and said well I did see it. It looked like a backwards check mark. He had no idea what I meant so i described what I saw. I said it came down on an angle then it stopped short and jumped into the clouds. He of course said, Michael, meteors don't stop mid flight and jump. Are you sure it wasn't your eyes playing a trick on you? I said, no, you know when you make a check mark on a piece of paper, you make the small line and then a longer line going upward in the opposite direction. He said yes. I said, well, that is what I saw, it just happened in reverse. Long line and then the short line. It disappeared into the clouds. That's why you didn't get a chance to see it.

He became really quiet for about 5 seconds and then said, I don't know what you saw but, it was not a meteor.

People don't understand reentry. This is the actual Apollo reentry path:

It didn't come straight down.

If you are going much faster than the speed necessary for lift, you can trade speed for height.

Meteors don't have attitude control and shouldn't be able to do this (they fly like a rock).

What you are describing is a reentry vehicle. But they don't do this that low, or over Canada.

Are you talking about the "meteor" I witness or the triangle? Because the triangle craft I saw was just as weird. See, I could not tell it was a triangle. That's how big it was. When I stopped at the stop sign and looked up it was as if I was looking at a forest fire at night. But, backwards. That's why I mention the "meteor" story, cause it was backwards too. lol

If you were in an airplane and flew over a forest fire, that's what it looked like. I had an entire ravine valley behind me and in front of me was a community center, with surrounding grounds, elementary school, complete with surrounding fenced in school yard, and a park the whole area is called Hazel Dean and you can look for yourself on google maps to see how large the area is. I didn't know it was triangle shaped until in was up near the big strip of cloud that it entered into to hide. That's how huge this craft was, CasualByStander. No exaggeration.

I was talking about the meteor.

A more or less stationary burning object (the triangle) isn't entering, reentering, or even exiting.

A fuel leak on a hypersonic craft with nitrogen filled fuel tanks is one of those "oops we are leaking" moments. The skin should be tough enough to take the temperature. It just makes them look foolish.
