Civil Unrest & Protests

There is no reason to travel outside your own community to participate in a shit storm going on in another community, regardless of which side you are on. People should be responsible for their own communities without outside help. I feel bad for Rittenhouse, the more I read about him the more I think his mind had been going off the rails for awhile. His obsession with the police strikes me as someone on the Autism spectrum. The people who really need to be locked up are his worthless parents. No kid of mine is going to travel across state lines with a gun to volunteer as a regulator/vigilante/whatever the hell he thought he was. I really hope the U.S. attorney is able to hit them with a firearms charge.

Likewise, I don't feel sorry for the criminal morons he shot, they reaped the consequences of their choices. The amount of stupid involved here is mind boggling.

It is unsurprising that Rittenhouse was cleared of the killings. The decision to prosecute him was dubious from the outset, as legal experts pointed out that a conviction was a long shot. It seems likely that the decision to prosecute was politically motivated, in an effort to temporarily placate the Black Lives Matter movement. But then they must also have anticipated that eventually it would reach this point, with Rittenhouse acquitted of those charged after a jury verdict.

It seems that leftists wanted him convicted of murder because they didn't like that he had come from out of town and brought a weapon. And also because they are dissatisfied with the state of gun laws in the country as a whole. However, learned people know that this is not the basis on which legal verdicts are decided, but by a consideration of facts and circumstances of events as presented in court. Experts pointed out that any jury was unlikely to convict on consideration of the evidence, as video evidence of all three shootings showed Rittenhouse firing only in response to being attacked. I considered it likely that Rittenhouse would be convicted on the firearms charge, until his defence counsel pointed out in court that his carrying the rifle was not against the law under which he was charged (although the media puzzlingly referred to this as his being let off on a 'technicality').

Rittenhouse is not a hero or a martyr, either. He should not have been there, and he especially should not have brought his gun. The same goes for the demonstrators he shot. There were plenty on both sides who flooded into the town looking for trouble, or looking to cause trouble.

There is a worrying trend in the US for people to bring their guns to demonstrations, or counter demonstrations. This is an intimidation tactic. They claim to be standing up for their Second Amendment rights, but really they are testing the limits of those rights, and the greater public's acceptance of them. If they continue the behaviour, with the consequences it brings (people being shot), then they may find that the broader public does not have much tolerance any more for their Second Amendment rights, and they might then be severely curtailed.

The unsettling part, I think, are the root causes to which some people feel the need or want to bring a gun to a demonstration or protest...What has changed and became so extreme to warrant the need for an AR to be displayed at these events?...That's a question the media and the government should be asking, although both have been fanning the flames of unrest the last few years...

I would ask a reasonable question to the people protesting the outcome of this trial...How is it that Kyle is a racist killer?...So many of the protesters are holding signs stating that he is a racist killer or a white supremacist, so exactly how does he fit those implications?...

This, 100 percent. Violence in a public setting is the single largest threat to our gun rights, and I wish people would stop and think about this. If you have to bring a military style long gun to an event, you probably shouldn't be going to that event. At minimum it confirms all kinds of negative stereotypes about gun people, at worst it invites others to "test" you. Either way you lose.

Global banks and investment firms secretly prepare for a dangerous upsurge in civil unrest in the US, UK and Europe

Global banks and investment firms are bracing themselves for an “unprecedented” upsurge in civil unrest in the US, UK and Europe as energy and food price spikes are set to drive costs of living to astronomical levels.

The information comes from the head of a ‘financial institutions group’ – which provides expertise and advisory services to other banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions – at one of the largest investment firms in the US.

The senior investment executive, who spoke to Byline Times on condition of anonymity because the information he revealed is considered highly sensitive, said that contingency planners at top financial institutions believe “dangerous levels” of social breakdown in the West are now all but inevitable, and imminent. An outbreak of civil unrest is expected to occur anytime this year, but most likely in the coming months as the impact of the cost of living crisis begins to saturate the lives of “everyone”.

Now What

The Sun jury says Justin Trudeau will tie his interference in a RCMP investigation to gun control but Canadians need to see how serious his government's meddling really is.

TRUDEAU SHATTERS OUR CONFIDENCE: PM's interference rocks Canadians' faith in our institutions

All this so they can say we need to change our gun control laws. He actually interfered in a RCMP mass shooting investigation !

I neatly side stepped any gun control issues first by avoiding the ones that are problematic right now and second by living where I do. They've been handing out concealed carry permits for a long time, I got mine in 1986. Hadn't noted people shooting one another around here because of it. Valid throughout New York State except for the 5 boroughs of NYC. Been fine by me for all these years.

That's going to change, trust me. Or just simply wait and see cause I have no idea how to stop this nonsense, especially when they are lying and backstabbing for political gain.

Anyone else finding it a bit dodgy that armed robbery and just plain scary assed situations involving people armed with specific guns are suddenly all the rage now that they are trying to enforce gun control changes. This is the most recent case.

I don't know the specifics but would be willing to bet the gun was illegal in the first place and it's owner unconcerned with the laws already on the books.

My concealed carry permit is not valid in any of the five boroughs. If I were going down there to blow somebody's brains out because I was pissed that would not have stopped me.

Ambush! Terrifying moment NYPD cops are AMBUSHED by glass bottle-throwing gang who injure four officers as they tried to arrest man armed with loaded handgun

Screenshot_20220804-083608.jpg

The Sunday night melee broke out around 8:05pm, when officers from the 44th Precinct were informed of a large group gathering at East 168 Street and Sheridan Avenue in the Bronx. Members of the group were observed drinking, playing loud music, blocking the sidewalk, and acting disorderly, an NYPD spokeperson told DailyMail.com on Wednesday. Officers approached an individual who attempted to flee the location and was carrying a loaded firearm was apprehended. As officers attempted to break up the riot, glass bottles were being thrown at them. The shocking scene was caught on video. The NYPD spokesperson said four officer sustained minor injuries, and four men were issued summonses.

Video shows shopkeeper defend store by repeatedly stabbing thief in Las Vegas.

Is there a longer video for more context? This seems like a pretty dubious use of force to me. However, if the masked men were threatening violence to the shopkeeper before the above clip starts, that would be a different story. What is shown in the video appears to be a shopkeeper repeatedly stabbing someone for attempted shoplifting.
