I had to give mine a bunch of dough. But it was worth every penny of it. Plus her lawyers fees. And you know what? After that it suddenly became crystal clear to me
why the stories that I heard about a Dad who went out to buy some smokes and never
    came back made sense.

Rideau Canal closed after river monster reports

The Rideau Canal Skateway closed on Feb. 22 following reports of a river monster spotted below the ice.
Patrons of the skateway claimed to have seen a large, scaly monster break through the ice in the early morning, resulting in the subsequent closure....

The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register

12 March 2021 - Eoin O'Fagan caught sight of something unexplained on the webcam. He said:

"I captured some footage off the webcam at 17.08 today, 12/03/21. There was disturbance of water and a wake is also visible with a black shape is seen rising up and down, as it moves slowly across the screen and disappears under the letter h of the same word.

2 smaller black shapes appeared, close together and I caught this odd looking image on a screenshot (below).I did not see any boats, at the time of sighting. There seemed to be a lot of action on the water around the object even though it moved slowly."

Youcan see the video he took on YouTube

22 January 2021 - again Eoin O'Fagan caught sight of something unexplained on the webcam - it was very similar to the 19 January sighting. He explained:

"I just went into the webcam at 2.11 pm and immediately saw what I could make out was 2 objects splashing around in the bay about 100 feet apart. They were 2 black objects throwing up a lot of water, and from the distance were large looking in the water. Then the one on the right submerged, and then came up again. The one on the left did the same thing intermittently. They were visible for up to 3 minutes, and then there was nothing. They could have been a couple of feet out of the water and maybe a dozen feet long."

This is a still of what he saw:

4 mins after viewing the sighting he also briefly spotted a black shape a few hundred yards further up the loch from the area of interest and took a screenshot of this image. The result is shown below:

19 January 2021 - long time Nessie watcher Eoin O'Fagan caught sight of something unexplained on the webcam at 2.20pm local time. He said that it was visible for about 20 minutes but he managed to get a recording of it for 3 and a half minutes. He also explained that it was coming in and out of view for 20 minutes and watched the webcam till dark confirming that there was definitely no boat traffic in the area. This is a still of what he captured:

11 January 2021 - at 11.42am, regular webcam watcher Kalynn Wangle noticed a "V" shaped wake close to the left front side of the loch shore while watching the cam, and less than 10 seconds later, she saw something black surface for only about a second before it disappeared. She watched the footage a few times, and reported it as looking like black object is swimming out from behind the tree that cover the view of the shore.

    You can see more here:

Not sure if this is what it was supposed to be? [or if I posted it in the right section? lol] ... but this could just be a regular-sized Great White Shark hanging from the rear of the boat... and the figure of a man in the shot could be yards further back, therefore inducing a forced perspective scenario making the fish look much larger than it really is! ... not sure about the 'paperclip' mention though? what do you guys think... is it Jaws?

    Cheers.

Weird mutant rabbits walk around on two legs

An entire lineage of French rabbits has been doing handstands for nearly a century. The acrobatic bunnies are not so much performing a stunt as they are a product of stunted genetics, according to a paper published this week in PLOS Genetics.

First discovered in a domesticated rabbit living in a Parisian suburb in 1935, the recessive trait is the product of a genetic mutation that could have been hidden in the animals’ genetic code for generations, only to surface then. It’s not a superpower. The rabbit variety—the “sauteur d’Alfort,” or “the Alfort jumper”—is also more likely to develop cataracts and become blind.

“The strain has been kept since then to study ocular malformations and pathological locomotion,” said co-author Miguel Carneiro, a geneticist at the University of Porto in Portugal, in an email. “Rabbits carrying this mutation would not be able to survive long in the wild due to its deleterious effects.”

The rabbits walk on all fours when moving slowly, but in a rush, turn to the handstand method. Now, a team of geneticists have identified the root of all those problems in the breed’s DNA.

It sounds like something terrifying! Mysterious home surveillance video puzzles Cape Coral residents, Florida

Home security footage from one Cape Coral home had a neighborhood looking for answers, but when they got one it wasn’t what they expected.

Security footage from inside a lanai from a home near Mohawk Parkway and Chiquita Boulevard on March 24th features a white figure appearing to move back and forth outside the lanai. Loud screeching could also be heard multiple times on the tape.

Neighbors said the sound and white mass were caught on camera at least twice within two weeks.

Many believe the figure caught on camera could have been a bear, bobcat, alligator, or even a “ghost.” Joe and Cindy Welch said their neighbors alerted them of the issue and asked Joe to check out the aftermath following the first incident.

“He went over to see if there was any creatures, any paw prints or anything,” said Joe’s wife, Cindy. “We waited another week before the monster came back, or the night creature.” We asked Florida Fish and Wildlife if they could identify what animal the sound came from but said they couldn’t identify it.

When the owner heard the sound again Thursday around 4 a.m., he immediately called the Cape Coral Police Department. Cape PD can be seen on Joe and Cindy’s trail camera footage walking in the backyard and quickly being sprayed by the homeowner’s sprinkler system.

“They figured out it was a sprinkler,” Joe said with a chuckle.

After speaking with the homeowner, neighbors believe his sprinkler system was responsible for the alien-like sounds and for the white ”ghost” like figure outside the lanai. While many in the area agree with the police about the sound coming from sprinklers, some are still skeptical the sound isn’t coming from a nearby animal.

“That one picture looks like there are some eyes in it,” Cindy says. [NBC] I am kind of sceptical too… What is the source of this mysterious noise?

I don't know about this but around here but red foxes make noises you would have no clue where they came from, and they'll give you goose bumps.

I think the sprinkler is the most likely culprit. Those security camera microphones can really distort the sound.

Creepy’ eyeball creatures washing up on Texas beaches, experts say. What are they?

Unusual “eyeball” creatures are washing up along a Texas beach, perplexing wildlife experts, officials say. Jennifer Baltazar told KSAT she was walking along the beach near Corpus Christi when something stung her son.

“That’s when we noticed it because I went looking for what could’ve stung him,” Baltazar told the news outlet. “We were super surprised because we’ve never seen anything like that on the beach.”

Baltazar says her family thought it was a fish eyeball.

The “creepy eyeball-looking creatures” initially stumped Mustang Island State Park officials. Farther south along the barrier island, Padre Island National Seashore received reports of similar “strange” creatures washing ashore, too.

The national seashore says the creatures are a siphonophore in the Rhizophysidae family.

“Siphonophores are colonial organisms, meaning that what appears to be one creature is actually lots of little ones all with their own function!” Padre Island National Seashore posted on Facebook.

Jace Tunnell, the director of Mission Aransas Reserve at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, further identified the species as Rhizophysa eysenhardti, the San Antonio Express-News reported. They are related to Portuguese man-o-war.

“I’ve never seen these things wash up before,” Tunnell told the news outlet. “Certain times of the year these jellyfish and stuff fluctuate coming in, and we randomly find interesting things coming, and this one, in particular, kind of threw me off ... it’s an interesting find for sure.”

    Translation of original incident report:

From the series ′′ From the Inspector's Diary reports Inspector Adam.

    - Come and pick him up! - desperation sounds in the voice of a woman calling.

    - But who, ma'am? - I ask

    - This creature!!! He's been sitting in a tree across the block for two days! People don't open windows because they're afraid it's going to enter their house!

    - But what is it, ma'am? Maybe some sick prey bird? - trying to guide a woman whose voice seems to grow hysteria.

    - No! - No! It's not a bird!

    - And what does this look like? - I'm asking because I'd like to know what to expect.

    - It's brown, it's sitting in a tree and this is the... yeah, this.. lagoon! - the lady shouts glad she finally remembered the right word.

I struggle to maintain seriousness. Lagoon? What could it be...?

Maybe a legwan? Taking a look at the calendar but today is not April first.

    - Yes, legwanese! He's been sitting here for two days and everyone is scared of him! So when are you coming for him? - the vision of rescue clearly affects the loss of hysteria, and the growth - enthusiasm. Who wouldn't enjoy the visit of dashing and brave inspectors - leguan busters, late grandchildren of Saint George and Dratewka's shoemaker...?

I'm still asking for the exact address and I'm asking for a contact phone, but I still have a suspicion that maybe it's a late prima aprilis after all.? Where would the legwan in Krakow estate come from? In the day - however - quite chilly despite the calendar spring? However, years of inspection have taught me that there are people willing to get rid of any animal that causes some trouble. Or just get bored. We had an old yorkie thrown into the yard in the evening, a seriously ill cat left in a closed transporter in a dumpster carport in winter, rats and hamsters with a cage thrown in the garbage, even fish in a street bucket.... Maybe someone threw out a legwan, I wonder how this creature feels after two nights at minus temperature? Maybe he's sitting in that tree and not moving because he just died?

My friend and I are going with the inspector and extremely carefully reviewing bushes behind the block whose address was given to us. We don't find a legwan. Not a lagoon.

We are calling the reporting lady. Sometimes it's nice to hear someone happy about our arrival: ′′ Are you there? How good is this!"

Questioning the lady if legwan is still sitting where he was sitting.

It turns out that he's still sitting, so roughly halfway through the block ′′ on what blooms in May ′′ - the woman says, but the name of the tree or bush can't remember. Almost everything is blooming in May, but we bet that it's not about it (you know: ′′ It was May / smelled like Saska K ęppa / crazy, green bzeeeem ′′) and we're going on a search. We look closely looking for the window monster locked out of fear. Windows open though - is the lagoon gone? Or maybe people just don't realize the horrible, threatening danger on them...?

We look around, look around and suddenly....

    Suddenly....

    Here he is, got him!

The brown creature is sitting on a lilac branch, without growing about halfway through the length of the block, the creature sits and doesn't move - exactly as the notifier described us. His brown skin will shine in the sun, although there is some sort of collapse anywhere. We are looking more closely - poor guy has no legs or head.

We already know that we can't help the creature, legwan, or rather - lagoon.

Because it's hard to help something that was previously baked, not in the sunlight. Because it's hard to help something that almost sweeps us off our feet... a laugh attack.

This mysterious lagoon - legwan turned out to be... croissant, a French cake croissant.

Probably flew out of a window (let me guess: for birds, probably thrown, out of the kindness of heart not supported, unfortunately, with any thought) and the poor guy got stuck in the fork of lilac twigs (He was sitting there and looked pretty good, releasing his imagination, taking on reptilians, he was almost moving, he was already preparing for the invasion, he was already beginning to look like a dragon child, the surrounding virgins were already trembling....

P.S. To be sure - this is not a description of a primaaprilis joke - such a report came to us really.

    P. S S.- 2 However, we note that it's always worth reporting if something concerns you. It's better to check and be pleasantly disappointed, sometimes (unfortunately very rarely) laugh, than not react, which can sometimes lead to a tragedy.

'Is it a velociraptor?' Internet freaks out as woman reports 'baby dinosaur' running across her Florida yard

A homeowner in Florida has sparked a debate on social media after suggesting that a 'baby dinosaur' ran across her lawn in the middle of the night. Cristina Ryan said her security camera captured the black and white footage of a creature on two legs scurrying past her home in Palm Coast.

While trying to come up with an explanation for what the strange animal may be, Ryan joked that she can only see it as a prehistoric creature. She noted that the way the animal was 'walking' on its hind legs makes it look just like a velociraptor.

'Any animal we can come up with that would be 'walking' at 3:40 in the morning, wouldn't walk this way,' Ryan told FOX 35 News. 'Maybe I've watched Jurassic Park too many times, but I see a raptor or other small dinosaur!'

See? A weird sighting turned me into a paleontologist and/or maybe a biologist. Same thing can happen to your average Joe when he sees a Bigfoot. You see weird lights in the sky, or better yet see them on YouTube or in a picture, then we get out our cloth measuring tapes and pencils and begin calculating how inhuman and non-ballistic whatever it was is and how it neatly dovetails in with whatever theory is on the menu because we are photographic analysts, aircraft recognition experts, physicists and materials scientists.

EDIT - yeah, I'm cranky today.

Mysterious ‘Sea Monster’ Skeleton Found on the Bottom of the Mediterranean

It’s relatively easy to fool the public – just as any politician, car salesperson or CGI programmer. It’s tougher to fool people who are authorities in the subject that someone is attempting to fool them with. That’s why, when an authority on cryptids is presented a video of a skeleton on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea and said authority says it’s not a fake yet cannot identify it – it’s time to look into it.
In a post on her blog and her Facebook page, Deborah Hatswell – founder of the Being Believed Research and Investigations group and the British Bigfoot Research group and noted British investigator of all things strange – humbly admitted she’s baffled by a video sent to her by a Remote Operated Vehicle equipment operator for the gas and oil industry.

The video was taken in 2017 but work and COVID prevented Hatswell from interviewing the man (he requested to be unnamed for employment reasons) until now. Hatswell is confident the witness’ experience in diving and ROV operations supports his description of the long spine in the video and his assessment that it’s definitely not a whale or anything else he’s seen. Hatswell explains that a whale skeleton has three blades on it’s spinal bones each spaced 120 degrees apart and this creature seems to have only two. She then lets the witness give his opinion.
A 30-meter-long (100 feet) sea serpent? Remember, this is the Mediterranean Sea, where tales of sea serpents and sea monsters go back to Homer’s Odyssey, Aristotle and the Hebrew Bible (Leviathan). Dragon myths are also plentiful and a flying dragon could certainly be brought down over the sea and end up on the bottom. While sea serpent and dragon sightings in the Mediterranean area are rare today, the ROV operator stresses that the bones look ancient. The only Mediterranean whale large enough to be a possibility is the sperm whale, but their length doesn’t exceed 60 feet and Hatswell gives the evidence why these aren’t whale bones.

Then … what are they from? A dinosaur that survived mass extinction? A lost relative of the Loch Ness monster? A blue whale or ancestor of one that managed to fit through the Strait of Gibraltar? A Jörmungandr or other Norse sea serpent a long way from the North Atlantic? Are they proof that the Leviathan really existed? We could go on and on, but Hatswell is hoping an authority on long skeletons of the Mediterranean will weigh in with less speculation and more clarity. She has no further info on where the bones were spotted, so a return to find them – if they’re still there … the ROV arm easily crushed a few – is out.

Or … have we all — this writer included — been fooled?

Trusting the integrity of the witness and Deborah Hatswell, this writer has no idea what the bones are from. Do you?

    .
