New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced that he would be resigning amid the sexual harassment probe in 14 days.

"New York tough means New York loving, and I love New York and I love you," Cuomo said, "I would never want to be unhelpful in any way, and I think given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing, and therefore, that’s what I’ll do."

As happy as I am about this, I'm still concerned he may escape accountability for the Nursing Homes Covid deaths.

Swept under the rug unfortunately, Biden confirmed that today when he said Cuomo did a 'hell of a job'...

Frankly, I thought he had skated on all this and didn't so I won't give up hope on this catching up to him too.

Time for brother Chris to go and also to start calling it the Tappan Zee bridge again - which nobody ever really stopped doing anyway.

Skelos, Silver. Now this putz. Buffalo Billion, SAFE Act, Emmys and book deals while they stacked nursing home patients like cordwood. We have a lot to be proud of about our state government, eh?

'This reeks of a shady deal': Fury as Cuomo impeachment is SUSPENDED by NY State Assembly after his resignation over sex pest scandal - leaving the door open for him to seek re-election in 2022

The NY State Assembly has suspended its impeachment investigation into Andrew Cuomo in a move that has sparked suspicion of a 'shady deal' between the outgoing governor and New York Democrats that both satisfies public calls for his head while allowing him to preserve his career. Cuomo resigned on Tuesday, before the Assembly could launch an impeachment trial that would not only block him from running again but would stop him from claiming his pension. Others had wanted the impeachment proceedings to continue, claiming he should be stopped from seeking office again because of the nursing home scandal and the sexual harassment claims against him.

But on Friday, Carl Heastie - the NY State Assembly Speaker who was overseeing the investigation - said it had been suspended. He said it came to the attention of the committee that the legislature 'couldn't impeach' an official who was no longer in office, but admitted that if they'd continued, they'd have likely voted to impeach based on the evidence.

I thought it was s.o.p because he resigned. It doesn't end the criminal investigations or potential civil suits

I did YOU all a favor: Defiant Cuomo says he quit for the good of NY and boasts he would have 'won' his impeachment battle in first interview since sex-pest resignation: Tried to cut deal to serve out remainder of his term

In his first interview after announcing his resignation as Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo said he did New Yorkers a favor by not 'dragging the state' through a months-long impeachment investigation, only for him to win and make 'the state government look like a ship of fools.' 'I feel like I did the right thing. I feel good. I'm not a martyr,' Cuomo, who resigned after a report from the state found that he had sexually harassed 11 women, told New York Magazine . Cuomo announced his resignation on Tuesday, which will take effect on Aug. 24.

He told New York Magazine that he did not know what he would do next or where he will live after leaving the Albany governor's mansion. Uh, I don't know what I'm gonna do,' Cuomo said. 'I'm not disappearing.' Despite saying he left on his own terms, Cuomo enacted last-ditch efforts in the days leading up to his resignation to cut try and cut deals with members of the state assembly, such as promising not to run for a fourth term if they did not impeach him. The New York State Assembly ultimately suspended their impeachment investigation on Friday.

NY lawmakers to continue Cuomo investigation, reversing course after backlash

"The Assembly Judiciary Committee will continue to review evidence and issue a final report on its investigation of Governor Cuomo," New York state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Assembly Judiciary Chair Charles Lavine, both Democrats, said in a joint statement.

"In doing so, the committee will take all appropriate steps to ensure that this effort does not interfere with various ongoing investigations by the United States Attorney concerning nursing home data; the attorney general concerning the governor’s memoir; and local law enforcement authorities in five jurisdictions – Manhattan, Albany, Westchester, Nassau, and Oswego – regarding possible criminal incidents of sexual misconduct," they said.

Cuomo's lucky day was when this **** went down in Afghanistan. The Farrah Fawcett Syndrome will render that invisible a while.

I tried to find the list Maher had on his show on 8/13/21...he showed a list of famous people, politicians mostly, who were involved in sex scandals....of course Clinton and Trump were both listed ...two who got away with it btw.
There were 3o names on the Dem side and 36 on the Gop side. If anyone can find it please post it..I looked but couldn't bring up that part of the show on you tube.
Seems like Cuomo just didn't have enough power or support to make it go away. :dry8:

Andrew Cuomo musical, ‘A Turtle on a Fence Post,’ headed to Broadway

Lights, Cuomo, action?

New York City’s next big off-Broadway production is hoping for your vote and a powerful spot on the Great White Way.

Hank Morris, 67, a political consultant who pleaded guilty back in 2010 for his involvement in a pension fraud pay-to-play scandal, is plotting his sweet (fictional) revenge on the man who prosecuted him: Andrew Cuomo.

In his new musical comedy, "A Turtle on a Fence Post," Morris is putting his grievances with Cuomo, 63, front and center. The show was first conceived while the powerbroker was serving his jail sentence.

"The play is based on true events, but it’s a fictionalized version of my journey and what happened to me and how it changed me," Morris explained to Variety. "The principal antagonist in the play is a bullying governor named Andrew Cuomo."

Gabriel Barre is directing the production, which will be choreographed by Kenny Ingram. Morris penned the book under his nom de plume, Prisoner #11RO731, which is an obvious reference to his inmate number. The show will also feature songs by Austin Nuckols and lyrics by Lily Dwoskin.

The title, "A Turtle on a Fence Post," refers to one of former ’90s presidential bad boy Bill Clinton’s favorite remarks: "If you see a turtle on a fence post, you know it didn’t get there by itself."

Morris was granted parole in 2013 after he served 13 days at Rikers then two years, two weeks and two days in a state correctional facility. While he originally wanted to perform his play as a one-man show, it has since grown into a seven-person stage musical.

The story takes place in a comedy club as well as a correctional institution. It tells the tale of the rise and decline of one of Manhattan’s most powerful and ruthless men. (Sound familiar?) Morris believes the show will take on a different tone in the present day as the soon-to-be-ex New York governor announced his resignation on Aug. 10 after evidence was found that he sexually harassed women.

"Political insiders knew the story, but the general public is going to be more open to hearing my story and hearing what he’s capable of," Morris told Hollywood trade paper Variety.

"The show has a universal message," he continued. "To me the message is life’s pretty good no matter how many twists and turns you experience, and you should make the best of it. You’re lucky to be here. The second message is that we all make our own prisons, and we’re the only ones who can set ourselves free."

"A Turtle on a Fence Post" will begin previews Oct. 26 and open Nov. 14 at Theater 555, at 555 W. 42nd St., according to Playbill. The limited 10-week engagement will run through Jan. 2, 2022.

Cuomo chokes back tears in his farewell address to New York before he's replaced at midnight: Uses his last speech as governor to slam AG's report as a 'political firecracker' and gets in one final dig at de Blasio

In his farewell address on Monday, he thanked New Yorkers for 'trusting' him through COVID and choked back tears as he told them for the final time to stay 'New York tough' - his COVID catchphrase. Cuomo will be replaced at 12.01am on Tuesday morning by Kathy Hochul, his Lt. Governor. He resigned earlier this month after being labeled a serial sex harasser by Letitia James whose report upholds the allegations of 11 women who say Cuomo sexually harassed them. After it was released, a chorus of Republicans and many Albany Democrats called for Cuomo to be impeached. The State Assembly launched impeachment proceedings and three district attorneys opened criminal investigations into the allegations.
