We currently have 18 people from work out sick with Covid...

2 more people from work are now sick with Covid raising the count to 20...I'm at home now and I'm getting all congested since I got home, but it could be the weather changes...We had 70 degree temps for a few days and today the temp dropped to freezing with snow falling all morning after heavy rains and winds...I'll see how I feel in the morning, I still have my smell and taste senses, so that's a good sign...

President Biden may have finally realized that shutting down America over COVID is the wrong move, as commonsense 'red state' governors have known all along, writes former restaurant empire CEO, ANDY PUZDER

As Omicron spreads throughout the highly vaccinated, masked, socially distanced and basically blue Northeast - making it hard to blame evil unvaccinated Trump voters - the American people are increasingly fed up with the left's oppressive and unsuccessful effort to use COVID as a justification for fundamentally transforming our nation. The Biden administration has apparently noticed because its COVID narrative appears to be changing. We are hearing less about 'following the science' as the sole standard under which we will fight the pandemic. Rather, like most red states, the administration is now considering societal needs and economic factors alongside epidemiology as they address the Omicron surge. It's sad that politics and fear mongering have made it such a difficult journey for much of the rest of country. Nonetheless, this horrible period in our lives can come finally to an end if the Biden administration is truly willing to change its ineffective and authoritarian COVID policies, embrace reality and focus on the pandemic more as a problem to solve and less as an opportunity to seize.

Moment science teacher with no medical qualifications injects son's friend, 17, with J&J COVID vaccine at her home without his parents' consent as school puts her on leave and cops probe where she got vial

Newly-released video footage shows New York high school biology teacher Laura Russo (pictured) jabbing a 17-year-old boy with a Covid-19 vaccine. She was charged after the teen returned home and told his mom he had been inoculated without parental consent. The married mother-of-six was charged under state education law with unauthorized practice of a profession.

People with commonsense had been calling for this for years. To be fair, this is a new governor.
NY makes major adjustment to COVID hospitalization reporting during omicron surge
"So we're looking at a critical moment, but we're going to start asking some questions. We talked about the hospitalizations. I have always wondered, we're looking at the hospitalizations of people testing positive in a hospital," Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul said Monday. "Is that person in the hospital because of COVID or did they show up there and are routinely tested and showing positive and they may have been asymptomatic or even just had the sniffles."
"Someone is in a car accident, they go to the emergency room, they test positive for COVID while they're there. They're not there being treated for COVID."

They should do the same with deaths. A friend said that her dad died from cancer but he had covid and that's what they put on the death certificate. That he died from complication with covid. Or something like that.

I agree. My cousin died last year. He hadn't been diagnosed with Covid previously, and hadn't been sick in the days up to his sudden death. But presto, his death was attributed to Covid. Literally no scientific curiosity or serious inquiry as to why he really died. Since the death certificate was immediately signed and stamped, the cause of death will never really be known. (The rest of the family expressed zero skepticism, however.)

Its one failure after another with this lameduck President...

Biden ripped for continued COVID failures after presser: 'Imagine if Trump told us to Google test sites'

Biden doubled down on his claim the ongoing situation is a "pandemic of the unvaccinated" despite breakthrough cases of vaccinated individuals being infected with COVID-19. The president told Americans to use internet search engines to find a COVID test rather than offering a plan to provide more tests for the country.

"I know this remains frustrating, believe me, it is frustrating to me. But we are making improvements. We have more capacity for in-person tests we should see waiting lines shortened, and more appointments freed-up," Biden said Tuesday. "Google ‘COVID tests near me’ to find the nearest site where you can get a test most often and free."

My friend died from a brain tumor but had been tagged as a covid patient and kept in their covid ward for weeks. Totally asymptomatic, never so much as a sniffle. This is how I got a good look at a brand new major hospital in the area dealing with a pandemic and believe me, it didn't look like the hype. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if I learned his death was added to the covid toll.

Feeling any better? When I'm ill, I find myself to feel the worst when I first wake up and then again late in the evening.

I hope you don't have to stand in a line up of sick people to get a test. :friends:

One of the woman that takes care of my mother in law has covid. Now the whole coop's been knocked over and they're all clucking, the feathers flying. They're all running for tests and are becoming hysterical. The symptoms are about like any cold but why not just go into a spastic panic anyway? At this point, so what.

What do you mean by "the whole coop's been knocked over"? Are they all sick or just scared?

My in laws are extreme personality types, to put it mildly. They travel in a pack and can take any situation and make it horribly worse., including this one. Very much shut ins and they view the world through their lens which is CNN 24/7.

There are three women that travel in from Queens and Brooklyn into Manhattan on a daily basis using mass transit. My wife travels in once or sometimes twice a week from upstate also using mass transit. How anyone could think you could play those odds and NOT catch something is beyond me. There are still plenty of disgusting things out there that can make you sick that aren't covid. Everyone is immunized and have already or are about to receive their boosters and the fifty two other shots they'll probably mandate. With this variant if one has it they probably all do. My opinion is that is that if the worst is that one has the sniffles then just keep doing what you are doing and ignore it. But no, there will be shrieking, throwing rocks at the Sun, the cursing of Trump because it's all his fault - and seriously - will probably cause this current gaggle of aides to quit. Demanding tests and vax cards and trying to apply corporate policy and procedures to these women from Far Far Away doesn't work, they'll go elsewhere in a blink. She should be in a facility and the time for heroic action to keep her at home is nearing an end, and this **** will accelerate it. Last report from 5 minutes ago she was screaming at top volume (normal all day every day) and throwing her shit like a chimp. So, again, **** covid and the horse it rode in on, we have other problems.

I was trying to get a rapid test but there were too many people at the clinic and I didn't feel like driving 20 min to the hospital...We have drive-thru testing in my area that performs the PCR test that gets results in 2-3 days, so I went there...Even then there were long lines of cars at the drive-thru almost a mile long at times, I drove there a few times cause I didn't want to wait hours in the car, that testing center is just a couple miles from my house and finally got in late this afternoon and didn't have to wait long...Feeling the same, no better no worse, mild symptoms for the most part but anyone sick is required to get a covid test before returning to work...

Former advisers press Biden to change COVID-19 strategy: live with it, not shut it down

Six members of the advisory board that worked with President Biden during his transition period before taking office are now calling on him to take a different approach to the COVID-19 pandemic than the one he is currently using.

In a series of opinion articles posted by the Journal of the American Medical Association, Drs. Ezekiel Emanuel, Michael Osterholm, Celine Gounder, David Michaels, Rick Bright and Luciana Borio offered various suggestions for how to move forward.

"As the omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 demonstrates, COVID-19 is here to stay," Emanuel, Osterholm and Gounder wrote in a piece in which they say Biden's national strategy for COVID-19 response must be "updated."

"The goal for the ‘new normal’ with COVID-19 does not include eradication or elimination, eg, the ‘zero COVID’ strategy. Neither COVID-19 vaccination nor infection appear to confer lifelong immunity," they wrote. "Current vaccines do not offer sterilizing immunity against SARS-CoV-2 infection. Infectious diseases cannot be eradicated when there is limited long-term immunity following infection or vaccination or nonhuman reservoirs of infection."

The "new normal," they explained, should be "recognizing that SARS-CoV-2 is but one of several circulating respiratory viruses that include influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and more." They noted that people have been living normal lives while facing the threat of those other respiratory illnesses, and they must learn to view the threat of COVID-19 as just an additional threat alongside the others.

Moderna CEO says fourth COVID-19 shot could be necessary

The CEO of Moderna says that a fourth coronavirus vaccine shot may soon be necessary due to declining efficacy of booster shots.

"I will be surprised when we get that data in the coming weeks that it’s holding nicely over time — I would expect that it’s not gonna hold great," Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel told CNBC on Thursday regarding the strength of the booster shots. "I still believe we’re going to need boosters in the fall of ’22 and forward."

Bancel says that the United Kingdom and South Korea have already begun ordering the fourth round of shots. "We have been saying that we believe first this virus is not going away," Bancel said. "We’re gonna have to live with it."

Moderna said last month that a booster dose of its COVID-19 vaccine should offer protection against the rapidly spreading omicron variant. Moderna said lab tests showed the half-dose booster shot increased by 37 times the level of so-called neutralizing antibodies able to fight omicron.

And a full-dose booster was even stronger, triggering an 83-fold jump in antibody levels, although with an increase in the usual side effects, the company said. While half-dose shots are being used for most Moderna boosters, a full-dose third shot has been recommended for people with weakened immune systems.
