Debate on how animals died in Monroe co. Ky.

When three horses and two dogs were found dead Sunday in Monroe County, the sheriff’s office believed that the animals were killed by a large animal.

But now the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Diagnostics Team says that it not the case.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife responded to the reports of the dead animals on Sunday in the Bill Butler Spur area. It is believed that whatever happened to them happened in the early morning hours.

The dogs killed were a pit bull and a husky.

Because the sheriff’s office believed that the killings were done by a large cat or another large animal, residents were advised to keep a close eye on animals and children while outside.

However, the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife diagnostics team said the deaths are not conclusive to an animal attack at all. The Monroe County Sheriff disagrees.

“These animals were not shot and they were not stabbed by a knife,” said Sheriff Dale Ford. “They were mauled. They were killed by some kind of big, vicious animal that is deadly.”

The owners of the animals say that they just want answers to prevent this from happening to someone else’s pet or even children.

BIGFOOT.

... I can't believe this story has gotten this big. That's where I live, I've been mostly ignoring it. I think it's honestly a group of people just attempting some sort of attention stunt. :/ At first they Said it was a rabid mountain lion, Then they said they don't believe it was an animal, Then they showed on facebook pictures of the guys miniature horses with the marks that literally looked like incision wounds, The fact is, I am from Monroe county, We don't know what it is.

#legit.

Although. The sheriff here May be on record for saying this or that, But his Name is Dayle Ford. I've known him my whole life, I've been arrested by him before, He is a jerk, Anyway. He has sent word to people that no matter what people are told, HE doesn't believe for a moment that it wasn't an animal of some sort. Keep in mind Southern Kentucky is a "Country like community a lot like Mayberry from Andy Griffith, No I'm not kidding" Even the people here who hate each other, Like me and the sheriff will still speak and even have a beer with one another, It's how country people are. Dayle is certain, It's some kind of animal attack. But he was pressured to say it was not. That is the current word around town.

Found them on someone else's page, FB wouldn't let me just grab them, So I had to snip them and upload them to a hosting site, But these are the wounds.

To me they look like stab or incision wounds, But I'm no expert, My assumption is, If an animal did it, Wouldn't it be more mangled than that? Those are awfully deep and clean.

I'm no expert either......but they don't look like an animal made those.

Do you know the person who lost the horses?

I know him because I've worked in tobacco for him before, But, I don't really know him, know him, He just mostly signed the cheques at the end of the day. Nice guy though.

It doesn't look like an animal to me either, there's a comment next to one of the photos stating if it was claws or teeth there would be a pattern but there appears to be no pattern, so maybe it was a knife...

A small percentage of people Believe Eddie is trying to make an insurance claim, I do know people "can" insure animals on a farm, Although that is exceedingly rare in this area, to be honest, It wouldn't be an overall shocking revelation if that turned out to be true. However, This is only the speculation of a gossiping community.

That thought did cross my mind.....wouldn't surprise me either as he did seem to be hiding something.

I guess time will tell......and if they were insured I'd expect an investigation is underway.
