On the flip side the message ‘We Are Here To Help You, If You Allow Us' could be setting the stage for an invasion if we responded with agreement...Perhaps their species does not conquer other worlds or species violently but come as the appearance of being friends and wanting to help only to quietly sterilize the human population or some other action to get rid of us but only if we welcome them and agree to accept their help...If a planet seems to resist or refuse their alleged help they move on since they're non-violent conquerors...A species like this would have to be very patient and deal with a lot of crap but they would not have to transport a military to different planets, just a few scientists, spies, and diplomats to play the role as friends whilst silently working out our demise...

I tend to lean towards Stephen Hawking’s take on contact with aliens. We shouldn’t be hasty reaching out to alien races. We don’t know what their intentions are. They would more than likely be more advanced technology wise. It would be best to be very cautious with extraterrestrials.

Exactly, the same thinking that religious people have for praising god for the good things that "happen" and saying "it's god's will" for the bad things that "happen". No self responsibility, and it gets tiresome. We are the saviors we have been waiting for.

I didn't know where to stick this one, but this might be a good place.

I would stay away from aliens as far as possible, despite all the curiosity etc. At a best they see us as lab animals and that's how you'll most likely be treated. 95% of encounters that I read about were between harmful and indifferent. Only about 5% were friendly.
