We just had a large 6.6 earthquake. USGS claims the epicenter was between Bakersfield, CA & Las Vegas, NV. It was near the Searles Valley. I felt a strong shifting motion over a 100 miles from the epicenter.

Officials in San Bernardino County said the quake caused water mains to break, downed power lines, cracked buildings and caused rock slides on roads.

No injuries or fires were reported in San Bernardino County.

People from Las Vegas to the Pacific Coast reported feeling a rolling motion that shook shower doors and made hanging dining room light sway.

At least four large aftershocks have been recorded, measuring 4.7, 3.5, 3.8 and 4.2 magnitude, officials said.

We're you in range of this one?...Did you feel it?...

...
Oh yeah, I felt it very strongly and it was substantially stronger than yesterdays. They've already downgraded it to a 6.9. The quake yesterday according to Caltech was the strongest in CA in 20 years. I keep hearing the news people describing it as a rolling motion. I'd say in was a strong shifting motion with no vertical climb.

Fratty and out of touch.
On the news they said that the first big quake was actually a foreshock. I've heard of aftershocks but that's the first time I've heard of a foreshock quake.

any quake that is larger than a 5 can be a foreshock.
I think they happen about 1/20th of the time
so if you just got a big quake, might be a good idea to get ready for a larger one quickly.
