eyewitness testimony and credibility

So one day picture a young Pigfarmer was at work after hours in a wiring closet off a hallway in a big building cutting down cables, hip deep in wire and plastic and quite absorbed in what I was doing. After a while I stepped out, all of maybe 10 feet, into the hallway where my utility cart was to get something and lo and behold a large turd had been placed between my tools. And I mean very large and very human looking, not a cow flop. Thankfully it wasn't actually touching anything other than the cart. Suffice to say I was appropriately horrified, and couldn't believe it had arrived without notice in a place that still had a fair number of people working in it at the time.

We had about two dozen people resident in office space at this extremely large sprawling customer site at the time and everyone had similar occurrences. Management was understandably upset and this sort of thing had the potential to endanger multi million dollar telecom contracts. One particular manager was horrified to find one in his upper desk drawer in a pair of men's tighty-(not so) whities. I can still remember him saying "someone has physically extricated themselves from their underwear !!" Whoever it was had cut their shorts off after they did the deed. And I still laugh because you had maybe a dozen men around at that moment wearing splicing rigs with scissors on their belts all looking at each other wondering who might be 'going commando' right then.

This went on a while until one day the culprit was caught brown handed. Nobody could believe it when his identity was revealed. Someone who wouldn't have ever fallen under suspicion for that sort of thing. He was even the 'victim' of one or two dookies.

He had a major drug and alcohol problem and no doubt some mental issues too, all of which went right through all the security checks at the time without ever being detected. He was doing it because he loved the turmoil and excitement it caused and apparently hated everyone's guts. We had worked with him for a few years, been on many projects, been out to dinner, had drinks with him and never ever even suspected anything.

Think about this guy's profile: a professional telecom engineer working on sensitive systems at a major IBM manufacturing facility. No problem with the extensive background checks required for that position. He put in 8 years with the U.S. Marines handling explosives - both as an ordnance disposal tech and as a demolitions expert. Real Hurt Locker stuff. Educated man with a wife and children, from a family of career police officers. Well spoken, generally quiet and respected.

Suppose he saw a UFO? Maybe even the famed Hudson Valley UFO, he was certainly around at the time. What do you suppose would be written if he were to make a report? I am positive it would include what I just wrote above and it would be 100% accurate - every bit of it is true and can be checked. Even today we'd be pointing to him as a pillar of credibility and another solid plank of evidence in a platform made up eyewitness testimony.

Well, I guess he might see a UFO and report it accurately and I admit this is an extreme example. And yes, I realize how many reports have been made an no, not everyone is a lunatic. But it does serve to illustrate that often things are not what they seem and that human nature has to be factored in.

I don't think anything is ever as it seems until it is fully known, especially when it comes to people...You could know a person for 20 years and one day be shocked when finding out something you did not know previously about that individual, yet on the flip side of that, in 20 years you may know that person well enough that nothing they say or do shocks you, even if its bizarre to others...

Which is why I have a hard time accepting eyewitness accounts - no matter how many - as factual proof. Interesting yes. Believable, maybe. A basis on which to state we've been visited by non-human space faring folks, well, not so much. Show me an ET corpse or spaceship please. Oh, I forgot - we know they exist in a secret place.

I have a bit of time tonight. Since communication with discarnate entities is an accepted fact to many via thanks to Mr.Bond (no, not that 00ne) I'll use my Oijia board to whistle up Jackie Gleason and double check with him ... and Richard Nixon too while I'm at it.
