It seems that there MAY be an escalation in the activity.
I work long hours, and so I've been known to take a "power nap" here and there. A couple weeks ago, I was in my office, I'd finished lunch, and like last time, I was waiting for some people who were supposed to come around 13:00.
I dozed off in my chair and woke up to the sound of voices in the main room, looked at the clock, it was 12:45 and I thought "They're here early." I jumped up, stepped out the door ... nobody. It was then I realized that I'd heard voices but hadn't heard what they were saying. It was loud and clear but at the same time, like listening under water. I hadn't actually heard the words.
I put it down to being tired and forgot about it. They showed up about five minutes later.
Then, yesterday, I had an even stronger experience.
I was on a break, sitting back in my chair, closing my eyes, every now and then sitting up and checking the time until my next meeting. So I wasn't completely asleep. I thought I was awake ... but it's very possible I fell asleep. I've been more tired than usual recently.
Suddenly, I heard a whisper RIGHT in my ear, and I could feel the breath on my ear: "Wake up!"
I almost jumped out of my chair, thinking that the people I work with were having a bit of fun with me and had somehow sneaked up on me without me hearing the door, only again, it was only me.
Now again, I might have dozed off and dreamed it, but it was SO vivid, and in my mind, I had just been sitting back in my chair with my eyes closed.
IF (and it's a very big if) this is a continuation of the activity in the room, it's a big step up from the footsteps.
