France And Bionic Soldiers

An ancient concept taken a step further with technology - nothing like fueling a bit of Beserker Rage with who knows what. Even in the 20th century we find that big chunks of the Wehrmacht were hopped up on speed an the like. In the various sandboxes we've been operating in recently I've heard of what seem outrageous doses of caffeine and nicotine. So the idea of a little chemical assist is pretty normal, says the man sipping his coffee.

Then throw in some tech like this: God's-eye view: The F-35's helmet lets pilots see the battlefield in a radically new way

Wouldn't surprise me one bit to find that there has been some actual Borg-like 'biointegration' or what have you. Seems like a natural next step and maybe a necessary one to process the amount of information that is being presented.

Maybe in a few decades that'll just be normal for us all. Yuck.

As above, so bellow
All armies give drugs to their soldiers. Back in 19th century Prussia sent 400,000 soldiers to war with Russia 250,000 returned as drug addicts. During WWII Wehrmacht soldiers on eastern front were taking tons of drugs, don't quote me on that I think it was called Provasil or Pervitin something like that.

Soldiers don't really need drugs for pain, but for tiredness and sleepiness. Soldier needs to go without a sleep for days if not weeks. During Gulf wars US pilots were constantly on drugs that extend wake hours.

The easiest way to torture soldiers to get information out of them, without breaking human rights laws, is to prevent them sleeping, because they are already sleep starved. That's another thing everybody is using.

I read a book called “Blitzed” by Norman Ohler some years back. His research showed that the German public and especially the German Army were hopped up on Methamphetamines (called Pervitin.) The book is somewhat uneven but it sheds like on German society during the war years.
