It is a Tasmanian Devil. Doesn't really look anything like the Warner Brothers cartoon, does it? lol Remember it used to turn up in a whirl wind of dust and cause all kinds of problems for Bugs Bunny?
Uh, so cute. It so perfect that it doesn't look real. lol I can't see your other posts. I don't belong to FB, Twitter, or instagram so they won't let me see the pics or vids.
Warner Brothers cartoonists came to Tasmania a long time ago and one of them saw a Tasmanian Devil and decided to use it as one of their cartoon characters. He said the 'Devil' has such a nasty temperament , temper and disposition that he would incorporate those features into the Taz character, and he did .
Their growl is really frightening as well. It sounds like it would come from a much larger animal. lol
Yes they make a heck of a racket. If you meet up with one while walking in the bush they will not get out of your way, you have to make way for them. Their ears glow red when they are cranky , which is most of the time. They have a jaw strength 7 times stronger than a dog. You don't want one latching onto your leg as they won't let go.
I know you're in Tasmania and figured it was a Devil but just didn't know. Just wondering how prevalent they are. You have them getting into your garbage or do they stick to themselves? Nasty looking little bastards, you'd sort of hope they would prefer to be left alone. Also, didn't they develop some sort of ick over the past few years? A wasting disease of some kind?
Not many come my way they usually live further out in the bush. If I drive out more into the hills I can see snakes and Echidnas and Devils sometimes. They have a deadly facial disease ( cancer ) that has taken a toll on their numbers over the last few years but luckily they are making a comeback now. Yes they are quite nasty I wouldn't want one as a pet even if it was tame. Anyway its illegal to keep them as pets . They are quite cute when they are little though and you can cuddle them.
This bear IS ALIVE it was a tag and release under sedation , but just to give u perspective of a grizzly bears paw!!
Found one of these hiding out in my kitchen last night. Its a Huntsman spider and they usually live in cracks in my firewood in the shed. But seeing its warming up now they are all over the place.
