I've been rewatching some of this series lately, watched the episode Hardhome S05E08, a brutal episode with the White Walkers and the Dead attacking the Night Watch and the Wildlings...The giant is awesome putting up a good fight before they abandon that area, the dead overrun them all...

Peter Dinklage says 'Game of Thrones' fans were upset about the finale because 'they wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset'

Peter Dinklage didn't hold back in a recent interview with The New York Times when it was brought up that "Game of Thrones" fans were let down by the show's finale.

"They wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together," Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister on the show, told the newspaper.

"By the way, it's fiction," he added with a laugh. "There's dragons in it. Move on."

The HBO series based on the novels by George R.R. Martin had its final season in 2019. Some fans were so upset by its final season that they launched a Change.org petition pleading for HBO to redo the entire season.

Call me crazy but, I am re-watching it right now. I'm up to S5 E9. I'll probably skip the latter part of season 8 because it will just break my heart all over again. :(

I'll watch a random episode here and there, usually one between season 2 and 6 lol...

I am probably in the minority. I watched Season 1 and then gave up. Perhaps the theme of dragons and ice monsters weren’t my thing.

Kit Harington to Reprise Jon Snow in Game of Thrones Sequel Series

The legend of Jon Snow has yet to be fully told. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kit Harington has signed on to reprise the character in an upcoming Game of Thrones sequel series.

It’s the first known Game of Thrones spin-off series that’ll take place after the events of the original series. In the case of Jon Snow’s character, he was last seen heading North of the Wall after killing Daenerys Targaryen.

Needless to say, the news is surprising for a variety of reasons. For one, HBO programming president Casey Bloys previously ruled out a spin-off series featuring the original GoT stars. “Nope, nope, nope. No. Part of it is, I do want this show — this Game of Thrones, [David Benioff and D.B. Weiss]’s show — to be its own thing. I don’t want to take characters from this world that they did beautifully and put them off into another world with someone else creating it,” Boys told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019. “George [R.R. Martin] has a massive, massive world; there are so many ways in. That’s why we’re trying to do things that feel distinct — and to not try and redo the same show. That’s probably one of the reasons why, right now, a sequel or picking up any of the other characters doesn’t make sense for us.”

What’s more, Harington has been vocal about the toll playing Jon Snow had on his mental health, which ultimately led him to check into rehab in 2019. “I went through some mental health difficulties after Thrones, and during the end of Thrones, to be honest,” he said in a 2021 interview with SiriusXM. “I think it was directly due to the nature of the show and what I had been doing for years.”

The Jon Snow project is the seventh known Game of Thrones spin-off series in development at HBO. House of the Dragon, a prequel centered on the House Targaryen, is set to premiere on August 21st. Other projects include The Sea of Snake, about Lord Corlys Velaryon; 10,000 Ships, about warrior queen Princess Nymeria; A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on Martin’s fantasy novels Tales of Dunk and Egg; and a dramatic animated series called The Golden Empire.

House of the Dragon

Hi guys... just watched the first episode!... anyone else seen it? ... and did anyone else enjoy it just as much as I just did? ... It was a very good opening episode to 'what I believe' will be a series every bit as good as the original GOT's. The only thing is that being as it is a completely fresh start to the show, ... you can't help thinking that the show is missing the massive characters that we all loved in the predecessor! .. But then that is hardly fair, as we are just looking at it with the aid of hindsight so to speak... as the big characters such as the Lannisters [all four brilliant and vital characters] or Jon Snow , Daenerys, Arya, Littlefinger etc had to slowly reveal their importance to the show... and as such so will the prime characters in this outing become clearer as we move through the episodes.
.... don't know about you guys, but this opening episode gets a 10/10 from this viewer anyway.

Cheers .

I saw episode one and two last night and I'm impressed...This is a fantastic start of the series, had the feel of season 2 or 3 of Game of Thrones lol...The first episode was great in bringing some of the major characters to life and understanding what was happening, excellent writing...I'll also say 10/10...

I wish I had your willpower old friend! ... I watched episode 4 last night [along with episode 3 of TROP] and thoroughly enjoyed both. I was originally a late-comer to the original GOT and binge-watched the first 4 or 5 series [did the same with Ozark, Breaking Bad, and others and can't even explain how much binge-watching a good series heightens the enjoyment of the show for me!] ... in fact I am now even doing it with the 18 years old remake of Battlestar Galactica... which isn't even in the same class as the aforementioned classics of T.V... but watchable enough for now as the television programming seems to be going through a bit of a hollow patch just lately... And so can totally understand your motivation for 'stockpiling' your favourite programmes. .... Shame I haven't the willpower to do the same [voluntarily... that is :D] ... As to the Jon Snow series, ...

I have been keeping an eye on the rumour-mills since that was proposed ages ago! ... and from what I can glean , the concept is very much favoured by some of the brass at HBO, but when they constantly keep reporting that "it is still in the very early stages"... it worries me that they are waiting for the present offering [THOTD] is an absolute success before they commit finances to the proposed Jon Snow project?! ... but as the ratings and the reviews are so far 'favourable' ... then perhaps there's reason to be optimistic about us eventually getting to see Jon Snow's men rebuilding the mighty ice wall ... with a few gruesome adventures thrown in etc. ... but I suspect that we may be a year or two older before we get the chance to see it.

Cheers Buddy.
