Disaster — Take Two
Hi,

It appears that the situation is worse than I imagined. A client who scammed us with a false chargeback claim appears to have sent us another payment for a service using a different name.

I learned about it when checking the status of the first claim.

I have been on the phone with PayPal about getting a “provisional credit,” which they do sometimes offer while such disputes are being investigated. But I was told that the policy was tightened about a month ago; those of you who use PayPal for business payments probably know about the change.

In short, I’ll soon be in the hole again, this time to the tune of nearly $1,000 once the new claim is processed.

I’ve been using PayPal since the early 2000s, and have never run into a problem of this sort before. All of the people I’ve worked with have been honest in their dealings with me.

So, I am certain I’ll win in the end and get my money back. But it can take up 30 days to investigate a payment dispute.

Despite everything, I’m working hard with our webmaster/marketing person to finish up, at long last, the Paracast site. I thought it would be done by the first of this month, but these things often take longer than planned.

Despite the setbacks, I’m trying to stay positive.

In the meantime, can you help me survive a while longer?

Dear GOB,

I’ve heard you. I do realize some of you would rather not receive personal mailings from the forum. If that’s the case, feel free to ignore this message, or you may easily remove yourself from the mailing list. The instructions are at the bottom of this letter.

As I wrote Tuesday, I’ve been online and accepting ads and subscription payments for years. Never had a problem.

But one if our clients, who got what he paid for, filed a false chargeback with his bank for a refund.

I like how the second message starts:

He "heard" us yet he is still sending these to us unsolicited and changing nothing. So he didn't hear anything.

A client who scammed us with a false chargeback claim appears to have sent us another payment for a service using a different name.

The only person scammed here was the customer and the only false thing was likely your claims about advertising on your show. I doubt you told them about your history of scamming and begging and what effect that would have on their brand image. Gene is lucky it is just a chargeback, they could just as well sue him and that wouldn't turn out well for him especially since he is now slandering them.

In short, I’ll soon be in the hole again, this time to the tune of nearly $1,000 once the new claim is processed.

What's new? Gene is always in the hole.
Looks like he changed his story after people pointed out the discrepancy between what he had said was in his account and the deficit of $200 he was claiming.

I have been on the phone with PayPal about getting a “provisional credit,” which they do sometimes offer while such disputes are being investigated. But I was told that the policy was tightened about a month ago; those of you who use PayPal for business payments probably know about the change.

I suspect the policy was changed to stop customers with legitimate grievances getting scammed by people like Gene who will never accept any wrongdoing.

So, I am certain I’ll win in the end and get my money back. But it can take up 30 days to investigate a payment dispute.

Just like when he was raising money for the case for the BIL - he kept begging for money under false pretences even after he knew that the BIL had plead guilty. He kept saying he would get the money back. No chance in hell just like then. Gene being certain about something has as much value as a fried turd.

Despite everything, I’m working hard with our webmaster/marketing person to finish up, at long last, the Paracast site. I thought it would be done by the first of this month, but these things often take longer than planned.

No these things ALWAYS take longer than planned when you are involved. In the real world giving a website a makeover takes less than a day. That is the difference between doing things properly and doing them the Gene way.

Despite the setbacks, I’m trying to stay positive.

If you were to be believed you are the most unfortunate person in the world - the Job of modern times. Why the hell would you stay positive?

We all know that everything for you is going to have a negative outcome. It is guaranteed. The only thing that will change is the crisis you are begging for but as long as you are alive you will keep declaring emergencies and aggressively begging.

There is nothing positive in that - you are utterly despicable.

Maybe I am missing something about this but it seems interesting to me he still has the donations going into the same PayPal account, which presumably has become a black hole now. Still, until he fills in that hole he is cut off from a lot of his online 'income' I suppose.

I'm pretty certain, and think I've seen others say this as well, if PayPal is giving someone a refund from you and the refunded funds are not in your PayPal account, they dip into your PayPal-linked bank account as well. So for me this once again raises that question of what cash does Gene have that he just neglects to mention in his emails. ("Oh my PayPal account is at $1.80! Please ignore my bank accounts....") But who knows.

Also fun to notice how anyone who advertised with Gene and who dares request a refund immediately becomes, "A client who scammed us with a false chargeback claim appears to have sent us another payment for a service using a different name." Like, they are public enemy #1, there is just no chance they could be legitimately dissatisfied. Perhaps advertising with Gene is maybe meant to be more of a donation...?

Sorry Gene but barring further evidence I have to lump this in with your characterization of the poor women your good friend Steven Beizer ripped off.

Would be interesting to know how PayPal rules; my guess is Gene is screwed on this one, but we'll never know unless it actually goes to court (which it won't, PayPal has their own process).

Steinberg has to be one of the poorest business men around. A client wants a refund and good ol’ Gene badmouths them. I guess you can permanently write them off your list for return business. The same goes for members who gave Steinberg money and then question the way he goes about his scamming. Gene is eager to delete those people from his websites.

He never once thinks to sweet talk these people. He berates them and then loses revenue forever. What a dunce.

Gene doesn't seem to have realised that in order to be a successful con man you need to charm people.

He scams people but doesn't ever try to smooth things over or use charm (probably because he is incapable of it).

Instead he goes on the offensive by slagging off the victim and making lots of noise over it. In doing so all he serves to do is sabotage his own schemes.

As for the situation with Paypal - if the customer tells Paypal that Gene was selling them advertising under false pretences it could be game over for him as far as they are concerned and they might give him a lifetime ban. The more he slanders the customer, the worse he makes his own case look.

As always Gene is his own worst enemy. He seems to be so self obsessed that he cannot for a second see how things must look to other people.

Let's for a moment assume that I was someone who wanted to advertise on the Paracast (yes I know it is far fetched but let's just pretend) - I would see how this previous dissatisfied customer is being treated and slandered now and I would be convinced to never ever advertise on the show.

Furthermore I would know to never ever do any kind of business with Gene Steinberg - no matter what the product or situation.

Good points. I hope the advertiser is aware Gene is trashing them in his emails. If he loses access to PayPal, well, he's already doomed* but, move him a few spaces further down the doomed track I suppose.

I recall seeing Gene declare on the Paracast that his online critics were bullies and the only way to respond to bullies is to attack them. I may be wrong but I have always thought since then that actually is his ethic - if you perceive someone is attacking you, you attack back, no matter how unproductive or ill thought out that may be. It seems to me it's guided a lot of his interactions. A problem, imho, is he's wrong about who is a bully.

Agree strongly I would never do business with this character. Even if there were some point or upside to it for me. No way.

(* and of course ultimately we're all doomed, some perhaps more doomed than others)

What Steinberg doesn’t seem to realize is when you are down on your luck and almost out on the street, you need all the help you can get. You need to hold your tongue and hope for the good graces of others willing to help you out. Instead he tries to piss on everyone and then wonders why things aren’t going his way.

As mentioned before, everyone is out to get poor old Gene. Boo hoo! Here is a man in his seventies who isn’t close to getting his life in order. How much time does he think he has to become fiscally responsible? Time is running out pal, as you are probably reading these posts. Your current strategy clearly isn’t working. Maybe try to not be a royal prick all the time and clean up your house, so to speak.

A poster at SGRC made a valid point. that the Whole Pay pal plot line is a rehash of the April "hacked "plot line.
If one recalls the hacked plot line had his account drained and the bank took weeks to recover the funds.
this caused him to miss a rent payment. this caused him to be evicted.
Also he was unable to come to an understanding with the place because trolls sent copies of his mails to the rental office. And flowers..

It seems we are living in the age of men who have reached their 70s but still act like 13 year old boys.

Also I really MUST ask..
he gets 900 to 1300 in SS..
Barb gets the same thing.
he Allegedly got 1000 per advertiser ..
why is he in his position?
maybe I'm right about Kevin the collector...

Yes I saw that too - I think Tim was the one who said it and he is right. Gene seems to refashion the same scheme over and over.

He used the hacking plot twice in quick succession. Even once would be pushing it and he used it twice which everyone found ridiculous. So he went away and reworked the scheme so that the bank has now become Paypal and the hack is now a false chargeback.

Again when this goes badly for him (which it definitely will since everything does - in an almost paranormal way) he will be blaming it on trolls, Paypal, vindictive/cheating customers and anyone else he can think of at the time.

All blame will rest on others and Gene will, as always, be without blame.

He has a cleaner sheet for sins than Jesus himself (if one takes him at his word which I most certainly don't).

Well I suspect the advertising money may have started to dry up in the last few months (the $1000 figure was from 2016 the last time he went bankrupt). He could still survive on the money he gets (many people get by with even less) by budgeting and reining in his spending but we all know Gene is unwilling to do that.

It's a safe bet that today's train wreck is at least 90% fiction, like all the rest. He may well have been forced to refund some advertiser, but that would be the end of the facts. His ad revenue has to be diminishing along with his audience.

The thing about the rental office manager is so stinky it's pathetic. No one knew where or who to send flowers to until he doxxed the woman who was just doing her job. By then the eviction was well under way, so "negotiations" were not even legally possible. Just more bullshit from a giant asshole.

It is my hope that when I reach 73 I can do as Rikki's folks do. Enjoy the fruits of a retirement. To have Grandchildren. To not worry. Her dad had to take a wal mart greeters job.
but he enjoys it. And when I pass on I know I will have family and friends.
It saddens me Gene may have a lonely trip to the grave.
he has earned it.

I’m not a Bible person but this sums it up nicely, Matthew 7:16... “By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs from thistles?”
