Part of what went wrong for the homeless guy and the GoFundMe appeal is that the situation became too public after he alleged that he did not get the money. Now they all are facing conspiracy and theft by deception charges. There is a lesson here for Gene to be careful . . .

Gene's GoFundMe only raised $50 so it did not garner much attention - either from donors or law enforcement. Perhaps it failed because he lacked visuals. Using an old picture that made him look young enough to get a job was a mistake. If Beizer's wife and son had started the appeal for Gene it might have been more effective, but then again Gene might have found himself in a tougher situation.

The “young” Gene Steinberg looks perfectly capable of working a job. I wonder what his problem is? Oh right, laziness.

I have often wondered why this is Gene's favorite photo - whether it be GoFundMe, Facebook, or his shows. Perhaps one reason why Gene cannot bring himself to go the Senior Center is that his self-image is tied to this photo. Maybe its as simple as not liking more recent shots - the older I get the less I like most of my photos. But if he ever gets around to revising the Paracast then this photo should be the first thing to go.

We already see him for what he is, so a more recent photo would not change our image of him.

Well observed. His references to the storage space make no sense. I'd guess he already defaulted on it, if he ever had it. Though I'll admit I believed he had it, thought it seemed a foolish waste of money given his claimed circumstances, and assumed he'd wind up losing whatever he put into storage due to non-payment. Really, who can say? His references to it don't make a lot of sense however. Unless you can go over a month past due on your payments for a storage space and still somehow recover, or at least tell yourself that it's possible.

Let’s face the facts. Steinberg is no Brad Pitt. This is the least offensive photo he has.

What could he possibly be saving anyway? I will bet you that most of what the Steinberg’s have collected you and I would consider to be junk. The storage is merely a convenient scam to ask for more money. His problem is, he went to the well so often it has become an Internet joke amongst posters.

This is part of the extreme absurdity of Steinberg's lies. On the one hand he argues that he has no possessions of any value, on the other hand he talks about this storage and losing his valuable possessions.

That would be absurd enough but then we have him telling us that his motel room contains three car loads of stuff which "begs" the question (pun intended) - what is the storage for?

I think the simplest and most probable explanation to solve all these Steinberg paradoxes is that he is lying to get more money and in typical Steinberg fashion he does it very badly and unimaginatively.

I think in his twisted mind this is "doing his share". - Coming up with fake reasons why he needs the money is what he considers work - never mind the fact that it is always the same things which makes it nonsensical to anyone with a functioning brain.

It's almost like his memory for his own scams only extends back a few days at a time.

What is his storage for?

Gene's 2016 bankruptcy petition identified a dining room table and chairs, living room sofa, coffee end tables, bed, night stands, and a computer desk (along with smaller items that could be in a hotel room, such as a radio, DVD player, tv, bedding and vacuum cleaner). The combined worth was said to be $1.690.

I keep thinking he must have boxes of books. The great classics. Perhaps even a rare copy of Those Sexy Saucer People or autographed works by Jim Moseley. Presumably they could be in storage but Gene may not be a book person and could have gotten rid of anything that came his way through the broadcasts. I was surprised not to see bookcases or books listed in the petition.

One dollar, sixty nine cents is about right. There is no reason to hold on to it (assuming he ever was).

Considering that Steinberg never reads any of the Paracast guest’s books, it might be safe to say he isn’t a big reader.

Also as David Biedny said he would flog any books he got as soon as he could on Ebay. It's not like Crimeberg is good with money. He would gladly sell something today for $2 instead of waiting and selling it for $200 when it is out of print.

Probably not. But Greenfield should have given him a copy of his Secret Cipher of the UFOnauts. And Moseley's work should approach the sacred. He might have boxes of Rockoids in storage.

So Gene, if you do happen to have Those Sexy Saucer People in storage I'll give you a fair price.

You know I wonder if some of those old sightings of MIBs (tall, thin, cadaverous) were actually Steinberg pranking various people under the instructions of Prankster No. 1 - Jim Moseley.

If there are any reports of MIBs in the '70s asking for loans, then you know you've found an incident that involved Steinberg.

"Now remember, don't tell anyone about your sighting, or this visit, if you know what's good for you. Oh, by the way, my car insurance is due, and I need some dental work that I can't get done at any of those free or cheap places like some peasant. I need about five hundred dollars right away. Can you help?"

I think we call different things research though. I think people commonly confuse what actual research constitutes within this field because hardly anyone actually knows how to do research (primarily due to the fringe nature of these subjects and the fact that it is a hobby for most of us).

As far as I know RPJ is not doing any research in the scientific sense. He is more interested in writing about people's experiences which he finds interesting, which is fine, but not what I would call research. That makes him more of a writer/blogger which is basically what a large proportion of people in Ufology and the paranormal do.

To be honest I can't really think of anyone doing scientific research right now. I know back in ye olden days of Ufology there were a few people - hard to think of anyone now. I think the subject is just considered to damaging to serious researcher's reputation.
exactly, sadly we don't have john keel's among us in the modern world, so real research is almost impossible
(no TTSA doesn't count)

Well put. RPJ is no more knowledgeable on these topics than lots of us who have been following the various UFO phenomena for decades. He's a prolific commenter. I know he has lots of fans, but don't know why. As a friend of mine likes to say, persistence will get you a long way. ;) There was that one guy, had a blog and some famous friends, died very young. Mac Tonnies. Nice guy. Very articulate. He seemed to get credit (from some) for inventing the idea of aliens being from Earth. Well, something like that. Of course all those ideas had been around far longer than he had. Those ideas were old even before I was born. I never did get that whole thing. I had nothing against him. If I lived near him and met him, I'd probably have had a few beers with him. But really, he wasn't a researcher or investigator. Oh well, at least he wasn't just famous for being famous.

The old literature is full of investigators visiting witnesses, checking with military bases, looking up airline schedules and astronomical tables, looking at the spots where weird things were reported to have happened. I'm impressed with the resourcefulness and the professionalism you find in that stuff. Intelligent people out doing things. Endless rehashes of other people's work don't impress me. Hell, I could do that, but I have better ways to waste my time.
frankly i never really got the gist of mac, at first he seemed to be in the right path, talking about the high strangeness and synchromysticism related to UFOs and the paranormal, then out of nowhere he came to the conclusion that UFOs were a paralel civilization living alongside us, wich not only completely contradicts his earlier research but is also a explanation sillier than ETH, he also stole john keel's ultraterrestrial label for his theory, wich is also weird because mac's ultraterrestrial theory, has 0% to do with the original ultraterrestrial theory
