Several months ago, one of my employers received a bogus complaint about me from one of these stalkers. When The Tech Night Owl Store was launched, we received fake negative reviews about products that hadn’t even shipped.

So who is that employer?
uber? GCN?

I assume he is referring to either the bad review he got as an Uber / Lyft driver (he was complaining about this last summer iirc), OR the time someone supposedly called Uber / Lyft to say he was driving for them on bad tires. This after he repeatedly begged for cash on the grounds of needing new tires.

I'm sure if Gene ever had an accident and skidded on those bad tires resulting in someone being killed, he would blame the deceased person for doing something wrong and then declare himself to be the victim in the whole thing.

Then he would try to beg money from others to pay for his defence (which would probably be fraudulently spent on luxuries anyway with him then trying to defend himself in court because he thinks he is such a genius). The defence would probably be based around a pack of stalkers and haters trying to put him away by arranging the "accident".

The guy is the lowest of the low and beyond parody. Everything is someone else's fault. It doesn't matter that he is a lying, thieving, fraudulent scumbag - all his problems are due to someone else, he bears no responsibility.

I haven't listened to the Paracast for very long, so based on what I've read here about how the show used to be much better, I went back and listened to the very first show they ever did. During that podcast, Gene referenced "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and Michael Rennie, plus "Contact" and Jodie Foster. He really hasn't evolved over the years.

I think you have illustrated the fact that Gene never brought anything to the show. He just made it worse. Thankfully when Biedny was there the quality of his input made that pain bearable.

I haven't gone back and listened to old shows in a while but I do remember just as you say here that he said the exact same garbage about movies and TV shows as he does now. The movies have never changed but the TV shows get periodically updated depending on what he is watching. The guy has NO INTEREST in the paranormal beyond what his "friends" told him in the 1960s.

As DB said he never once read any of the books or even the blogs that the guests had written.

All he he would do is discuss The Day the Earth Stood Still - the old version with Michael Rennie (always have to be clear on that), the latest DC comic show he likes - Supergirl, Arrow, procedural crime dramas (CSI etc), people he knew in the 1960s and occasionally what boring crap he had gleaned from those people about the same old UFO cases like Aztec, Roswell etc.

It is all complete garbage and the kind of ramblings that would send someone who had just taken crystal meth to sleep.

I tend to think a version of Parcrud Plus that cut out Gene's ramblings would be do better than the one that simply cuts the ads out.

Given how bad he looked over a decade ago, I think seeing what he looks like now might be a health hazard akin to the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Nazis open the Ark.

Is there any way that Gene's driver profile at Uber or Lyft can be looked up? I mean, surely Phoenix residents can know who their getting next trip? Ive never used it myself. We need to see what ticks are against his name. Or if he even IS a driver. Its likely all baloney.

I think it’s apparent that the growing negative exposure on the internet is having an effect .... there IS such thing as bad publicity. He’s also probably looking at this site and picking up on the various themes? It’s also interesting that the missives are now almost entirely in the singular - it’s always “I” no mention of the dog let alone spouse.
You guys have done a great job in exposing the outrageous behaviour of this guy. If people/suckers are going to continue to feed this grifting habit then at least they’ll be doing so with full disclosure.
I’m ashamed to admit that it’s somewhat compelling to watch it all unfolding from a safe distance.

We all well know that the TechNightOwl storefront is a complete fraud - and the misrepresentations persist. The admittedly fake "number sold" counter that we were told was a third party insert and would be removed "in hours" is still there. 13 wireless earbuds sold in last 24 hours - yet still the magic 7 remaining "in stock" - miraculous! Also now other pop-ups appear saying X in Y bought one in last 25 min - what an absolute lie, don't you just hate these cynical lying bastards?
Also the pricing of most items is weird - with very odd $'s cent amounts - indicative of there being an FX calculation from a foreign base currency into US$ - doubtless where "Anders" is domicled. Also who would actually be facilitating the wonderful 100% money back "guarantee" - the whole thing stinks. Also the entrypoint to the "chatline" now is via inserting your email - doubtless for e-begging purposes. I hope that the whole thing just craters before anyone is suckered in.

I agree the Tech Night Owl web store looks sketchy; I wouldn't buy from it, for what it's worth. Things also appear overpriced to me, just at a quick glance. As for some of the "# sold today" claims, I keep assuming some of that is somehow based on where ever they are getting the items from - like the TNO store is just a 'window' into this other store, and the reviews and some of the metrics are coming from that hypothetical larger entity. I could be wrong, and in any case the whole thing seems off and does not instill trust.

Once again, contrary to Gene's claims (surprise!) I don't think any of his critics or detractors would mind him earning a living (or just boosting his income, which seems more likely the case) honestly. If he can make a go of it with a store like this, good for him. I'm very skeptical that this store will do much for him and in fact think he is (surprise again!) deluding himself, but I'm not against him trying something like this. That doesn't make the effort immune to all criticism, either.

Right, you're only supposed to have fake positive reviews about products that haven't shipped and no one has ordered. The gall of those stalkers!

Gene only wants fake reviews that he put there himself - he seems to forget that his reviews claimed to buy and receive items before the store was even launched. Also I see that the fake sale price is still there for those crappy airbuds. Putting up a sale price that a product was never previously sold for is considered fraud in most countries and liable to hefty fines. I pointed this out to Anders when he was here and his response was to simply lower it from $75 to a different figure - pretty clear that both he and Gene are equally unconcerned about breaking the law. Birds of a feather and all that.
