I had wondered if, being Danish, his ability to understand the finer points of what we were proving about Grifting Gene were going over his head somewhat. Either way, the very fact there is a whole thread here, not to mention Jack Brewer's work, and Jeremy Vaeni's, must have demonstrated that something is seriously wrong. Gene, no doubt though, would have been inisiting that we are all trolls, liars, conmen, and part of the "faceless" engine that has tried to shut The Paracast down.

I sometimes wonder what future SchemeGene historians will think of all this.. Maybe Paracast memorabilia will be worth somthing. Gene's e-begging claims are so fantastically implausible, and the show has been so close to the edge of the cliff for so long, that generations of paranormal buffs and UFO enthusiasts will marvel at how he clung on for so many years. Or maybe it'll all be a dismal end that barely a soul will remember or care about. Who knows..

Any word on if he sold the The Tech Night Owl ? Maybe that explains the sudden drop off in e-begging..

To try to answer the question.
    in July 3 things happened.
    1. 4 the Tech owl ends.
    2. Gene moves into a apartment.
    3. the last beg letter.
my current thought is Gene sold the Tech owl.
AND at the same time opened up the Paracast AND the tech owl fourms to ads.
a look at both show they are host to ads. the tech owl is dead but Gene still is paid for the ads.
honest income? I say yes but honestly do you want to have a fourms overrun with ads?
    better than Begging I guess

Tech Nite Owl would only have value (scant, if any, BTW) if it were a going concern. There has been zero Tech Nite Owl since it went black. So it's dead just like the wicked witch. No scrilla for Steinberg.

If the Paracast site has ads, then he gets zero income from posting them. He only gets money for click thru's. And any website owner knows that the income from those comes in trickles of pennies unless it's a big, highly trafficked website. His is most definitely not that.

I suspect he found some cheap housing--maybe subsidized--that enabled him to match a meager income with a meager existence that he can maintain. That's not so unusual. Happens to lots of geezers; he just went kicking and screaming before he adjusted is all.

One wonders what will happen if his money runs out again.. Back to the old e-beg scamming I suppose.

his begging lasted YEARS.over a decade. He begged for every living expense. even grocery. he begged for rent money when he got a new luxury car. he lived in luxury apartment. all while begging. It became a comedy.
the slumlord, the constable and his dog all became players in the narrative.
his wife and her medical problems..
the list went on and on..

Well.. Ill tell you this.. I mean I'd heard from the likes of Frank Warren and co that he was running the show to encourage money, and not for the love of it. And there were rumors of fraud. But.., then other folk say he's a normal guy and none of these tales were correct! Anyway, (this was around 2 years ago) I went on the Paracast, almost just to tick it off the list and because people just suggested I should. No biggie. But right afterwards I started getting emails (my email address is everywhere, so no surprises) from various anonymous people telling me why I shouldn't be on the show, or, if I do decide to go on again then I should ask Gene about this or that, or that I should get dirt on him, etc. I also was directed to one Jeremy Vaeni's blog, and parts of it were extremely humorous in a downbeat sort of way (ironically I was also on Jeremy's podcast too some time ago which was fun).. So thats sort of what happened. As an aside, at the end of the day, one of the reasons I was reluctant to beleive half the allegations regarding Gene was because I actually found out that one of the people anonymously emailing me (from the very beggining too) was an entity by the name of "Waller Joel". People have absolutely insisted that I must not beleive a single word this unreliable and inconsistent Mr. Joel says, right.. So when Joel says bad stuff about Gene, I was adept to think the opposite. Get me? Anyhow, here we are. So this Gene Financial Shenanigans thread is huge. Its like 100s of pages. So much info. Im new here on this forum, so I'm just working things out. If all this stuff about Gene and his family and the motel room (some of which seems like a bad sitcom to me more than anything) is true, why the hell is the show still going? I know with 99.99% certainty that here in Australia, nothing, no radio show or magazine or whatever, would survive in the face of all this.

Seems like you have it pretty well sorted out.

    Waller...
As they say, even a blind pig can find an acorn once in a while. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. And so on.

The sad thing is this..Believe NOTHING gene says..
the whole hotel Saga is like a bad sitcom. Teddy Bear barks at some guy and Gene got tossed..
I learned that He is a lying man. his whole "my account was hacked and drained." is 100% fiction.
    it was story after story..
I may have more soon I am checking out a hunch...

What I dont get though is if this started apparently 15 years ago, and theres been so much of it (court appearances, disgruntled co-hosts, monies owed to dozens of folk, etc) is how the show has kept going and going?

Gene seems to make his podcast (formerly podcasts) a big priority. I think part of it is a way of connecting with the world, part of it is / was a way of seeming legitimate while having a platform from which to beg, and part of it, who knows, just OCD or habit maybe.

I agree with the disclaimer you can't believe everything Gene says. I do believe though that he got himself and his family evicted and had to live in motel rooms for months following that. No matter how dicey he'd claim his personal situation had become (see: tales of begging for handouts at restaurants), the podcast showed up every week like clockwork. I think he would have recorded it out of his car if he had to.

Cranking out a weekly podcast is a lot of work, even when one is resolutely unemployed. But Gene never seems to be short of volunteers to put in the bulk of the actual effort (booking guests, interviewing). Those volunteers are increasingly serious bottom of the barrel types, but they're there. Gene has to show up and go through motions he got down pat over a decade ago. If the guest wrote a book, do you think Gene bothered to read it? He did not. He'll make sure the commercials are played and throw in some of his favorite pop culture references and make some stock observations about the UFO mystery and there you go.

Gene got away with behaving as he did for as long as he did because people tolerated it, and he wasn't necessarily breaking any laws, or at least nothing more than some nuisance laws. He can still get away with begging for disposable income (while claiming the money is for an immediate dire emergency) while billing himself as a serious and legitimate journalist if he likes and I suspect that he will again someday.

Gene seemed committed to the grift and the call of easy money. Check out, if you can find it, the episode where an obvious troll on Twitter claimed he'd meet Gene in a McDonald's parking lot with a bag of cash and Gene frantically raced to not one but two different McDonald's to meet the guy before realizing he was being jerked around. Gene later posted his checking account info on Twitter in response to another troll who claimed he would wire Gene money.

Is it possible some kind of substance abuse or mental health issue was impairing Gene's judgment? I don't know.

Gene is not to be trusted and never was any serious journalist, researcher, investigator or the like. He had a lot of good fortune to start the Paracast when he did, and with David Biedny pulling the plow for him. He has burned a tremendous amount of goodwill over the years, and wound up living out of a motel room while claiming persecution. But the show went on, week after week.

Ah the merry chase. it ended with Gene jumping in a ball pit looking for a payday.
    Then there was Paranormal Davey..
Gene seemed to do anything for a buck.

Anything but get a conventional job, or even look for freelance work.

All those years, thousands of emails asking for donations, not a single one asking for a lead on any sort of job.
