Gene Steinberg's Financial Shenanigans @ Paracast forums

Begging under false pretence makes it a lot worse than simply asking people for money inappropriately or a social faux pas - it is more akin to fraud if not outright theft.
The use of the official podcast email lists to send out such begging requests despite promising not to do so is also pretty bad and I have twice asked to be removed from such begging notices.
It seems to work for a while but then obviously Gene finds that nobody wants to voluntarily sign up for his begging email list so he just starts sending them to everyone on the Paracast list again.
I'm sure this contravenes some kind of spamming law.
I also think there are questions to be asked about Gene's practice in requesting strangers send him money via Paypal's "friends and family" feature.
Not sure if it is breaking any law but I suspect it is some kind of fraud to call total strangers friends and family - imagine someone begging on TV for funding doing the same thing with their viewers, purely in order to circumvent the standard fee.
Further the fact that he keeps renting homes, apartments etc with no intention of actually paying any rent himself is not only irresponsible it is downright immoral. How is it different from any other kind of theft?
Add on top of that the question of whether the 12 year career of begging has ever been declared as income to the IRS (- I'm pretty certain Gene himself is not a registered charity). I seriously doubt it.
The real scumbag icing on the top is the use of a natural disaster with a false promise of sending some money to help victims later - totally despicable.
I think even most career criminals would draw the line at that - what is next stealing from kids on the cancer ward of the local hospital?
I don't understand how anyone could sleep at night after doing something like that but I think it speaks to some strange kind of mental pathology where Gene has no insight at all into what he is doing.
Either that or he is a complete sociopath and doesn't actually care.
I'm starting to lean towards the latter as evidenced by his constant monitoring of the web for anyone who speaks out about what he is doing as well as his aggressive shutting down of any questions on the Paracast forums -that suggests that there is some insight.
Either way these are not harmless actions and anyone who dismisses them as such needs to seriously consider where their morality is.
Chris has become the second cohost to leave as a result of Gene's disgusting behaviour yet it seems there is always someone else to step in and become a co-presenter.
To those people I would say you are enabling (if not complicit) in behaviour which will likely turn out to be illegal.
Even if it isn't provably illegal it is quite immoral, not to mention disgusting, and will likely tarnish your reputation indelibly forever.

Yes Randall got banned once as i recall. This was why Gene wouldnt consider him as a mod even though randall was dropping hints about it all the time.
But desperate times call for desperate measures.
I predict Randall will wind up stuck in the echo chamber that the Paracast has become.

I wonder how he'll respond to the public posting of his bankruptcy. He might go over the edge at this, not being able to control factual information coming out. Each time before, you could just point out the logical inconsistencies at his begging emails, take the word of his former co-hosts and guests, and look at what he's renting for.
NOW - this is his OWN admission of what his costs are. He was paying $700 a month just to drive a newer model car, for someone that doesn't even work! A giant cable/internet package, and a late model iPhone he previously admitted he has, that he probably grabbed on contract as well to add into that giant cost.
All these things that prove his ridiculous lifestyle put him in this situation, by his own LEGAL admission!

You have to wonder. After almost 12 years of fishy financial hanky-panky, some people were bound to look into the official records of Steinberg's shady dealings. All his whining and complaining won't stop people from finding out what he is secretly up to.
More than likely some government agency or officials are going to catch wind of 'irregularities' and the house of cards will come crashing down. Woe to those who get caught up in all this nonsense. Their good names won't be worth five cents.

This is the bizarre part.
By begging in this way he makes it other people's business.
- He sends out unsolicited emails begging people then is surprised when people research to see if what he's saying is true.
I can therefore understand why he doesn't want it getting out.
Not only does it invalidate the BS in his constant begging letters (not that it needs it given it is going on for a decade) but it could also get him in trouble with the authorities by not declaring another source of income (as mentioned previously).
Nobody escapes the taxman.
Not only that but if he is now saying it is false information then that means he has been lying to the authorities and hence defrauding them about his income and bankruptcy too.
He can't tell the government to mind their own business and expect them to leave it alone and I would not be surprised if they are already monitoring him and building a case against him.
The deeper you look at this whole thing the more insane it seems to get.
I really don't understand how people continue to take the risk of working with and attaching their own reputation to someone like this.

[Sarcasm Mode On] It would be very hard for any person to give up being a moderator (gasp!) at the Paracast AND a permanent co-host (gasp!) of the Paracast podcast. The head swells, the heart opens, and you just want to sing to the world like Julie Andrews atop a Mountain meadow. How could anyone give all glamour and fame up just because Gene (the man who bestows such incredible rewards) might be totally unethical in his personal monetary dealings?
