I live in Phoenix. I see low cost rentals everywhere. There is no need for Gene to live in a gorgeous gated community with pools, exercise rooms, a community center for events, and streets lined with huge beautiful palm trees. This is where young yuppies live prior to settling down and getting their first home. This is not a haven for the elderly on a stiff budget.

The last part of his recent newsletter is ridiculous to me, unless I'm reading it wrong, why is he even involved in this field if he believes the words he writes and speaks as if most agree with his opines?...

Perhaps Gene needs to embrace the NEW AGE and begin using AFFIRMATIONS of prosperity and wealth, working with the Law of Attraction to bring him all he could ever need while doing absolutely nothing except affirm and create daydreams (known as visualizations in the NEW AGE) of his new wealthy life style. The NEW AGE was made for people like Gene. I got it! Gene should reveal that he has always been deeply psychic! He should start doing readings (for a hefty fee) in the Phoenix area. There are people who do this and must make a tidy sum in the back rooms of NEW AGE bookstores or in their private homes. Hang up lots of gypsy bead curtains and buy some incense and some colorful head bandannas. Play Celtic harp music softly in the background. Find a used crystal ball at a flea market. Maybe Teddy Bear could be his "familiar" (a spirit in animal form)? Perhaps Barbara could lie there in bed and channel the spirits of aliens and the dead.

I know - it's crazy, right? It's a podcast mostly about UFOs...which shits all over the subject of UFOs...and he wonders why nobody wants to listen to it...

I pointed that out to him a couple of times, that it's like shooting yourself in the face. But he didn't get it; he thought I was suggesting that they become credulous fanboys like you see at MUFON conventions. I was just pointing out that if you mock your own subject matter every week, and routinely insult the 99% of the potential audience that thinks that most genuinely anomalous UFOs are extraterrestrial spacecraft - nobody's going to want to listen.

I think this has a lot to do with the kind of people Gene hung out with in the 1960s (since he is mentally stuck in that period and can talk of nothing else save super hero tv shows).

The kind of people who were his friends were basically pranksters (e.g. Jim Mosely) who went around cynically faking all kinds of crap. They were little more than trolls.

That is the sum total of Gene's knowledge. He doesn't do any research, hell he doesn't even interview the people who come on his show and I don't think he has read any books on the subject either.

So all he knows is what he saw from people in the 1960s and in his mind that is all that can therefore exist. In some ways I would trust James Randi to be more open minded (and at least Randi would not ask me for money).

I think a better candidate for his spirit animal would be Sylvia Brown. She was also into conning people for money.

There is an excellent write up on Gene from 2016 here:

    Is Gene Steinberg A Fraud?

Pretty much sums up everything and because Gene seems incapable of updating his begging scam by learning new skills (too much work - if he did that he could just get a job) it all still applies like it could have been written today.

Here's a short excerpt but the whole article is worth a read:

Looks like Gene responded to Chris' appearance on the "End of Days Podcast" where he told the truth about Gene's constant begging, laziness and unwillingness to share the money brought in by the show despite Chris doing most of the work.

You can get the podcast here. There is also a transcript on the page.

For context here is the transcript of what Chris said:

Here is Gene's response nearly 4 months later, of course as always Steinberg plays the victim here:

So it seems despite doing the real work Chris should have been satisfied to just get some cast-off items from Steinberg (once Gene had used other people's money to upgrade them).

How dare he expect to get any of the income that the show brought in (despite the fact that he was supposed to be a partner with 50% ownership)?

Who does he think he is? - He should be grateful that Steinberg let him do most of the work for the last ten years or so.

I like Chris O'Brien but he let himself be used by Steinberg. Chris felt like he was staying in touch with those in the UFO community by being on the Paracast. He just wasn't getting paid squat by Steinberg. Compound that with the money begging and he couldn't take it any longer.

LOL that response is hilarious. I love how when it's items he's given to someone, he rolls it off like it's the Ark of the Covenant covered in 24K gold, with pure diamond casing. The comment with iPhone WITH AN ACCOUNT! As if he provided him with some super valuable setup. As well as the phrase 'vintage iMac.' AKA - old iMac no longer wanted.

But when he's questioned on the crap he buys with other people's money, it's just a low model (as in $20,000+) Volkswagen. Or $1200 for an apartment. Or $220 in cable ...

You know what? Screw it. Everyone let Chris O' Brien know himself on his site, I've posted that info there to see his response:

Yeah, imho Vaeni had his number back then, 100%.

Steinberg related stuff here is quite insightful as well: An Open Letter To Ufology

I wonder if the $10,000 story in the comments is true. I hope not but it's hard to be sure of anything with this story anymore.

Wow a "vintage" iMac, eh? Good grief. Well look, you can't spell "generous" without GENE.

Maybe that is what he sent those hurricane victims too. People lost their homes, maybe even their lives so Gene (generous citizen that he is) may have sent them an obsolete computer or one of his other cast-offs to help. He is such a selfless humanitarian.

Hopefully this link works... if one searches in the Maricopa County Civil Court Cases, you can see a history for both Stephen and Helene Bezier in the '90s. Rather Steinberg-esque results I'd say:

Maybe I'll response to his email to offer him a 'vintage' donation.

Chris said in one interview, I forget which, that about all he got from Gene was "He pays my phone bill" but didn't mention anything about it including last year's iPhone.

A CRT iMac with maxed out memory, now, that is another matter. That machine must be worth $75-$100.

The closest I could find to an oldest 27' was when it was started in 2009 model. Outdated, yes - but still usable. Probably not ultra valuable like he makes it sound.

Lets say you humor him of all this value he's given. All of this just begs the question, if Gene had usable things in the first place that were just simply outdated: where is he getting the money to get the newer higher end models of the same thing if he never has cash?

He can afford a better iMac, so he gives an older usable one away. He can afford a better iPhone, so he gives an older one away. Yet, he needs others to pay the simplest of expenses for him.
