Global Cooling or Global Warming?

I've been preparing for the cold, we may not see it for 20 or 30 years but it cpuld get considerably colder in 10 years, I'll be old by then, old people cannot handle the cold well, I have to be prepared...If it stay warm so be it, I had something keeping me busy lol...

The short term warming trend is approaching its end based on past events.

The next ice age will begin in the near geologic future.......its likely one super volcanic eruption away.

If a super volcanic eruption occurred from one of the larger calderas like Yellowstone or Toba even if we were in the middle of a warming trend that would end pretty abruptly. I think I remember reading somewhere that a powerful eruption from Yellowstone would plunge temps up to 30 degrees worldwide. That wouldn't just be an ice age, that would be an extinction.

I've been saying for years the cooling is coming, I've been preparing in case it comes faster than estimated...Like you said one thing that could slip us quickly into a ice age is a volcano...Also if a big enough meteor hits us, not big enough to wipe us out but large enough to throw enough dust into the atmosphere and cover the sun for a few years...

We won't see a major cooling that will bring about another ice age for another couple thousand years and that's being conservative. Unless of course a major natural disaster hits, and if a disaster of that scale hits we won't have to worry about it because we would all be dead.

It doesn't really need a volcanic eruption or impact.......its in the near future......I'm just not going to lose sleep over it.

Yes, many research papers are pointing at 20 to 30 years...

Who is?...

It won't happen in 20 or 30 years. That's insane. Literally no major reseacher is saying an ice age is 20 to 30 years away. If that is fact I would love to see these reseach papers if you have any links.

I think I posted one or two in this thread...

This morning`s rain i found odd for Okla only cause it came in from the N.E., instead of the normal (for here)S.W. to N.W.

It all depends on where the system is coming from and its size.

We usually don't get the storms from the northeast in New England......except for storms that often bring a lot of snow called "Noreasters".

We get storms from northeast pretty often up our way in the form of backdoor cold fronts. Nor'easters originate in the gulf and charge north/northeast from there and are tropical by nature, so they come from the south. Completely different animals. You may look at the radar and it would seem Nor'easters are coming from the northeast but it's really just deformation bands as the storm strengthens in the cold winter Atlantic waters.

hmmm, well here in ontario we have both 'global cooling/global warming. this was the coldest winter on record and it was a long one, spring maybe 2 days, then full bore summer. temps up into the 90 F's. heh!

A kind of 'Global Amplification' ? I think spring here was shorter than normal too.. But I dont mind..

hate to say it but too many people on this planet of ours. mom nature's going to get mad. ;)

personally i don't see global cooling or global warming as an issue of concern. to me it's more like any of the many coined catch phrases bandied about, usually by outfits/groups/organizations who are more concerned with their 'bottom line'.

Personally all I see is humanity causing environmental damage to the planet. It will warm or cool without our help.

Its just a good idea to begin working together as a people to start cleaning up the planet and work more to conserve its resources instead of squandering them.
