There is a vast difference between bottom shelf hootch and a quality bourbon or single malt whisky. If you want an education I suggest you visit a site like Connosr.com and get insight into the whisky/bourbon world. The posters there are experienced bourbon and whisky drinkers and they know how to spot quality spirits.

At the end of the day I would rather consume something that has quality to it than low cost swill that gives me a headache and indigestion.

One year ago today, I opened this bottle of Buffalo Trace.
I am finishing it off today. I suppose I should not let open bourbon site more than a year anyway.

    Still good.

Can’t believe it has been a whole year already....

I’m sorry but this looks like a fast buck gimmick like the Jane Walker that Diageo released earlier in the year. Jane was the exact same whisky as Johnnie Walker but different packaging. This was supposed to attract the female whisky drinkers. Please! I would look at the full line of the Game of Thrones whiskies which has more potency for the dollar. That should be arriving shortly. See one of my previous posts about that.

Jim Beam makes a fine inexpensive bourbon.

Yes, we used to mix it with coke back in in the early days of legal age, but...

Never tried Jim Beam basic as a straight pour until this week. Not offensive at all... in fact it was a fine pour at room temp and straight... a bit hot, but I enjoyed it, and I think it shaved off catching a cold....

I remember lunch boxes used to carry icons like Six Million Dollar Man, Hulk, WonderWoman...
now, bourbon is getting the face of stars and movie characters...
Is this because the lunchbox generation is now this generation of bourbon drinkers?
Mila Kunis is now hooking up with Jim Beam

Seems burbon is attracting the stars...
    Smirnoff- Ted Danson
    Wild Turkey - Matt Mcconaughey
    Jim Beam- Mila Kunis

So according to a survey by these guys, Buffalo Trace is the top choice budget bourbon.

I have not tried James T Kirk Bourbon...
James T. Kirk Bourbon Whiskey Ready to Beam Up

Ok I am not sure what to think about this marketing... in a way, this is rediculous. I mean.... bourbon has a fine history... grass roots America... Nostalgic for its honesty. Bourbon has always been a thing with a kind of mystique unique unto itself.... An Era of Prohibition could not stop it... it became an ICON of freedom...

Now... with Game Of Thrones Collections, And Star Trek Bourbon, and distilleries flavoring it with vanilla schnapps etc. OMG... THIS is no longer bourbon... or whiskey... it is flavored alcohol... To leave Whiskey or Bourbon on the label is just WRONG... an insult...a deafacement of sorts... a corruption of something sacred. But I digress.

James T. Kirk looks like a high quality blend, and Imagining myself having a drink with Dr. McCoy and Kirk Almost makes me want a bottle... until I realize I can imagine that with any good glass of Bourbon.

I will not buy a bottle of James T. Kirk, or any Game of Thrones bottles...

It just sorta sounds tooooo Gimmicky...

Buy Y’all can decide for yourself...
It should be available in November.

Oh I like this, so smooth, I'm a bit buzzed since I've drank the equivalent of few shots now with a New Castle beer chaser, but yeah I recommend this...

It really does pay to step up in the alcohol content of bourbon.

Absolutely, I was reserved on buying that bottle, was afraid it might taste like Jack Daniel's which I don't like but it has a flavour all its own..

The sooner you move away from Jack Daniels' the better off you will be.

If it is around, I enjoy Jack n coke. About a 50/50 ratio. But I don't buy Jack anymore, it is about 2.8 out of 5 stars, but mostly what I enjoy now is Anything 3.5 and up.
