What Brand of Bourbon have you tried and how did you drink it?
Mixers, neat, on the rocks, with an ice ball...

My favorites:

Mixers:
Jack n Coke
Four Roses Yellow Lable n Coke,
Old Fashioned (Almost any Bourbon or whiskey will do)

Ice Ball or Neat:
Four Roses Single Barrel.
Crown Royal Reserve
Jameson.

Want to try as a sipper with Ice Ball:
Basil Hayden
Buffalo Trace
Rare Eagle

Bourbon or Whisey or Whisky, only Please...

My Favorite Bourbons are Woodford Reserve and Evan Williams. Most generally, I take them on the Rocks.

My Favorite Whiskeys are Jim Beam: Old Crow, Fighting Cock, Ezra Brooks, Early Times and Jack Daniel's. Most Generally, Neat.

IMG_1087.JPG Got a small 375 ml bottle of Buffalo Trace after work.

Will let yall know my thoughts on the neat sample later.

It is rated as 3.5. Thats a good rating...
The nose is sweet.
I am no connoisseur, but its good!

First sip sat on the toungue nicely, tingled on the gums... but no bite...
The after tast is caramel... with something else... its nice..

IMHO, A first rate sipper, but may be a tad sweet for some. Not a mixer in my opinion. Should be enjoyed neat or with an ice cube at most.

This will always be in my bar...

For Boiler Makers, I would use regular old Jameson...

I have a nasty cold...l felt it comming on mid last week.

While I still felt good enough, I went to happy hour with my coworkers from the office.

They had a local Texas Bourbon, Garrison Brothers, and another highly rated bottoe side by side, so, partly to cure the throat, and partly due to curiosity, I had a sample of both neat.

I was happy to note that the Texas Born Hand made Garrison Brothers was slightly better than the other top shelf brand...

So, I wrote my cowboy bourbon poem....

Cowboy Bourbon
----------------------

Good Bourbon has an energy... and it doesn't just come from how long it is aged in the barrels.

It also comes from the attitude of the maker... If the Master Distiller loves his craft, then that positive energy is part of that batch, and if he or she is having a particularly good few days, that batch will turn out better.

Want a good bourbon? You need good people making it...

Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon must have been made by the best folks, and they must have been having some really good days...

If you heard of them, or tried it, you know what I mean...

If you haven't? Well... Best to keep that to yourself...

Johnny Walker Black, neat. It's too damn cold for ice this time of year.
Johnny walker is a smooth neat drinker... or with ice.
A friend bought me a black label on the rocks... It was really nice. Easy to drink... maybe too easy! Haha... Good stuff..

I was in a Liquor store a couple weeks ago, and an old man loaded a cart with Black Label... said he drank about a bottle a week...

I recently got a bottle of Bourbon/Whiskey from my friends son's distillery in Indy....Hotel Tango...decent but then I'm not an expert anyway.
I also like Jack Daniels which is technically a sour mash whiskey and not bourbon.
Makers Mark...and Knob Creek are very good and Jim Beam is ok.
But there are a many excellent craft bourbons and whiskeys around lately.

List of bar & drink terms. :)
Bar Terms and Bartender Terminology: Learn Bartending Lingo Here
Neat – This ones important to know in bar terms. If someone asks for a whiskey neat, they are asking for a shot straight out of the bottle. Neat means no ice. Of course that shot must be in a whiskey glass. Whiskey drinkers are picky!

Pony
– A pony or pony shot is equal to 1 ounce.

Premium
– Premium refers to premium alcohol or top-shelf liquor (E.g. the well or bar rail gin is Beefeater and the premium is Tanqueray)

I work in Frankfort, KY and when the distilleries are making mash you can really smell it. I'm not much of a drinker anymore. I would say Evan Williams is my fave. Jim Beam 7 and McAfee's are also good.

Drank plenty of Shine in my time too. Used to be a guy down in Jessamine County who had it down to an art form. His stuff was so smooth you didn't know how strong it was until it hit your stomach. He died in a four wheeler accident, probably related to his trade sadly.

I would call myself a sampler more than a drinker. Even so, I have tried maybe 27 whiskeys and bourbons and agree with you.

I will look for McAfee's.
