How do you Force someone to Give up Sugar?

A while Back, I got pretty sick, Ultimately my diet changed drastically, For me, It wasn't so difficult. My Friend Tate, Some of you may be aware of him, He recently had to go to a surgeon, The surgeon cannot operate on him because he has uncontrolled diabetes,

I assumed for him, Giving up sugar would be a similar thing. No, In tates case, He simply refuses to give it up, Arguments with his father about what drinks he should switch to occur to no avail,

I wonder why it's harder for some than others. Anyway, We all have our close friends, I already lost one of my best friends two years ago, Let me tell you, When a friend who you are genuinely close to passes, It affects you, You miss that person every day of your life.

How then, Do you make a person stop hurting themselves, I've told him these things in a candid fashion, But, Tate is just like, "If I can't enjoy being alive then why be alive" This both shocks and pisses me off.

I literally wanted to punch him for that, But that would solve nothing and he would still be drinking ten mountain dews a day.

How do I help him? If he would just straighten up his diet he could be fine, How does someone help someone like that? Any advice would be appreciated.

There is a lot going on with Suger that most people don't even think about, Back in older times, We used Cain Sugar, Which Large and by far is more healthy than Beet Sugar, Which is a faster growing, one season crop, unlike the Sugar Cain which is a two-year crop. But the fact is, Cain Sugar was safer, Less fattening and people weren't dying from it at mass.

As time progresses, I see a conspiracy, of a population, that has grown out of control and resources just can't sustain it unless we make devastating decisions like "population control."

It's a scary thought to be sure, It's like a living nightmare, But at the same time, Thanos makes a decent point. We just don't possess the wealth of resources to support all these people.
