How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

I haven't had any vaccinations since I left school. I don't want one either. I also resent the implication that I might be forced into getting one.

I had the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. There wasn't a queue at the vaccine centre. The person administering it mentioned that they had received 2,000 doses for the day, but only 400 bookings.

There is a bogus non-story emanating from the continent about it supposedly being associated with blood clots. Epidemiological data for blood clots in the general population reveals that there is no increased incidence in those vaccinated with with the AstraZeneca vaccine. This after this, therefore because of this reasoning is deeply irrational, and it is probably part of the politicized campaign to rubbish the AstraZeneca vaccine by EU national leaders. Countries outside of the EU have been influenced to stop administering the AstraZeneca vaccine as a result.
I suspect that story was perpetrated by BionTech/Pfizer, trying to remove competition as it is a business and they are more concerned with profit than health. The vaccines and drugs that any pharmacuetical company creates is just the product they sell and the selling is the main focus.

Sniglet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A sniglet (/ˈsnɪɡlɪt/) is an often humorous word made up to describe something for which no dictionary word exists.

Human nature being what it is people have already figured out how to shirk responsibility by waving the covid banner. Example, can't do X because you have to hide under the bed all day or the ronamonster will git you .
LOOK ! OVER THERE! I just saw coronavirus fly by ........ I think it saw me .....

Been dealing with a few odious examples lately and thought there should be a word for it. A sniglet. I just can't think of one right now. The answer to this should go in Made up word of the day

When I had the AstraZeneca vaccine, I felt rough for a period of about 24 hours, beginning when I awoke the following morning. It was like a bad flu, and I was bedridden for the day. I had fever, chills, shivering, sweating, myalgia, malaise, and headache. I would not have been able to go to work the that day, if I had needed to work. Fortunately it was a Sunday. (I mentioned earlier in the thread that I was due to receive it on a Friday, and that's true, but the appointment got cancelled and was rescheduled to the following day.)

Also, another tip for getting vaccinated is, if you have a preferred side for sleeping on, get the vaccine in the opposite arm. I learned this the hard way by not specifying a preference. I did not foresee the consequence of getting the vaccination in the arm of the side I prefer to sleep on (it exacerbates the pain of the injection site).

I've recently been through a fairly serious illness that hospitalized me, however I'm about fully recovered and given the J&J is a one shot deal i think I should be fine...The doctors who looked after me in the hospital also said I should be fine to get vaccinated...I'm left handed so the right arm gets the shot lol...

How do you get that one? That is the one I want but it seems that in my area everyone is getting Pfizer or Moderna, And if you sign up on the state health department website, which is the only way to get it if you are not in the hospital, you don't get to choose, except to say no when they tell you it is your turn to get the vaccine.

We get to choose here, I missed the first round of J&J a couple weeks ago when I was ill but more doses are coming next week...I'm getting it through the local health department and called them yesterday to confirm...They said they had the Moderna available right now if I wanted it but declined and said I'll wait for the J&J next week...I have paperwork confirming a J&J shot for me...

We can't even go in to Walgreens and get a vaccine, and it seems Walgreens is giving the Moderna vaccine. If we aren't in the current group which is still elderly, medical staff, teachers, first responders or unhealthy people we have to wait until they email us, which takes about 6 weeks after we register. It is kind of messed up because my friend who has lupus still hasn't been emailed to make an appointment but her parents both got the vaccination last week. She signed up 2 months ago. Almost as if she fell through the cracks.

My country stopped the AstraZeneca vaccine too, cause there were few alledged cases of clots affecting brain circulation. They said theyre going to reroll to Pfizers.

How's he doing now?...Fully recovered yet?...

He said hed call or have someone call me if he got hospitalized. There hasnt been a call in 10 days, and last i contacted him, he said he was feeling fine. Im thinking that tough he got hit by a bullet, it just scratched him. Of course we dont know what kind of after effect there might potentially be along the line. Hopefully not too bad if youve just had the mild version.

I had my jab, the chimpanzee clotted blood one and I felt awful the next day. Bananas and scones didn't help at all but I gave them a go.

Plain old paracetamol made me feel whole again.

As for the EU and the scaremongering about the AZ vax, it's the EU and not competition as i'm sure they had it under the microscope as they felt burnt with the UK looking after number one, they looked to snipe it down in utter bitterness. The frustration has to surface and this is what they came up with, I don't mean someone was tasked with it but when you are fuffled and your hands are tied then it's amazing how concerns can suddenly become real to the injured party.

Typical behaviour and wait for the grab, that's around the corner.

There's only been 2 recorded reactions to the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine since its being distributed and used in the US, 2 young people had extreme fatigue for a couple days...Its been postponed a week for me, was to get it next week but now its going to happen the following week, logistics issues, I can wait...

I haven't been particularly tuned in to the vaccine. When I got covid the doc told me I'd likely test positive for up to three months. Anecdotally I've heard the vaccines are effective for six moths or less rather than an annual shot like the flu.
Been a couple of weeks since I looked at the CDC site and last time I did I came away more confused.

Just curious what anyone's expectations are regarding the vaccine and how it might (or might not) compare to what you might naturally acquire after fighting it off.

They're saying it lasts 3 to 6 months because that was the span of time they have reliable data for however its likely to be effective and protective much longer, we just have to wait for more data and evidence...I've heard a possibility of 1 to 3 years, so its also possible there may be an annual booster shot to keep immunity up there for protection...

I expect the immunity from the vaccines to last a matter of years, probably longer than natural infection. The only trouble is that they were designed to target one particular strain, and that strain is no longer dominant where I live. A booster shot to target new strains will be necessary. I don't think that task is as difficult as it sounds. The new strains tend to converge on a few beneficial (to the virus) mutations which can be targeted by a single booster. That the same mutations keep cropping up in different parts of the world suggests that there is a limited number of beneficial mutations that the virus can make to increase its fitness.
