How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

I got the Covid shots because I was having a procedure and it was “required” to get the operation. Knowing what I do now, I would think twice on getting jabbed.

I've just come down with something this weekend. Possibly Covid. I have a high temperature this evening, and I have had a sore throat and cough since yesterday. The cough seems to be improving, but I still feel pretty febrile.

I took the day off sick on Monday. The first sick day I have had since I started my current job four years ago. I think I am gradually feeling better, but I still have some annoying symptoms. I have night sweats, and during the day cold sweats. I sat down at my desk to work yesterday morning, and the temperature of the room was 19 C (66 F). About half an hour later, I touched my hand to my scalp, and I noticed that my hair was soaked with sweat, and there were large sweat patches all over my shirt. I also have lingering unpleasant taste and smell sensations that don't seem to relate to any real physical stimulus. I can brush my teeth and use mouthwash, and they remain. I have experienced similar things in response to colds, although I would normally associate them with the prodrome of such an infection, the period before the classic symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, etc, take hold.

I don't know. There is not the same ready availability of tests that there was a year ago. There are no more testing centres, and they are not delivering home testing kits to those with symptoms. Government advice is if you have the symptoms of Covid, just live with it and isolate yourself for ten days, so that is what I have been doing.

We still have testing locations in my area of the US, the dedicated testing centers are gone however the walk-in clinics and hospitals are performing tests, for a price though...I still have about 10 home tests that the government dispensed for free, haven't had a need for them lately...

stay at home if you're sick. that's the answer now, after two plus years of insanity
I cannot see what the purpose of the hugely expensive mass-testing programme was, other than to make providers a lot of money at public expense. It seems that there existed media narratives that there should be as much testing as possible and the government was swayed by this pressure (and no doubt behind-the-scenes lobbying from firms seeking to provide the service). Similar scenes were playing out in a lot of countries, so there was also an element of international competition to rank high in the league table of PCR tests per capita.

If you have Covid-like symptoms, then there is every chance you have Covid, so assume you have Covid and avoid giving it to others. In order to gauge how much Covid there is in society, you can infer it from the positivity rate among random samples of volunteers for a much lower cost. Testing everyone who claims to have symptoms offers diminishing returns in the amount of information about the epidemic it gives. A positive community test of an infected person was not likely to improve their health outcome should they go on to develop severe disease, as the health service was prepared to do precisely nothing until the infected person presented to hospital with severe disease. A negative test can also provide false-reassurance to people that they do not have Covid, as there is a high rate of false negatives among those who truly are infected with the virus, that could thus lead to them to go spreading it around.

As above, so bellow
I just took two jabs today, one for covid-19 and one for flue.
But winter seems to be the warmest in years, I doubt there is going to be any new epidemic.

Unless you are a Democrat in the US, in which case covid might again become useful.

I watch the county website daily. Seems about 20 people hospitalized for covid amongst 300k+ people is the norm. That has been true since the early Spring of 2021.

My last day of work for this week was Wednesday, I used the last of my vacation time for this year and took off yesterday and today...I give a ride to work for a friend of mine and he's been out sick with covid along with his son and wife having covid now too, so he hasn't needed a ride to work for the rest of this week...I took a home test last night and tested negative, since he was riding in my car this past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, just watching to see if I may have it from him, but nothing yet, I feel fine...I'll take another home test later tonight...

Essentially no covid in Uganda. Only 5 cases in a population of around 44 million people with only 27% of the population fully vaccinated.

Covid, vaccines, malaria

Covid came and went, seems it was a hot topic for all the locals, some people took to the masks again whilst some fell ill...Now Flu is the hot topic locally, everyone is getting sick with the Flu and to a lesser degree, RSV...Could be more Covid with Flu-like symptoms, who knows...
