At least it's not a Cat 4.

Yeah really although this is a slow moving storm, I won't see its full effects until tomorrow afternoon and evening and Sunday but we have strong gusts of wind...

Almost as soon as the eye hit land, how about that

That's because it was a cat 1 before it hit land, if it was a cat 4 like originally predicted at landfall we would not see it weaken so quickly...

Scary stuff to be sure, I saw videos once of a cat 4 hitting Hawaii, Dude, I can't even swim. I'm so not a fan of the water.

This is terrible news on the deaths and the looting...ugh

Mom and baby are among five killed in 'biblical' Florence as looters begin to raid abandoned homes and stores while 'thousand-year' rain batters North Carolina despite downgrade to tropical storm

Untitled.png

  • Mother, baby and father were trapped in their house in Wilmington after a tree fell onto it at around 9.30am
  • Firefighters tried to lift the heavy tree and managed to free father but the mother and baby died in the crush
  • Elsewhere in North Carolina, three others died of a heart attack, electrocution, and wind trauma respectively
  • Four suspected looters were arrested and charged with a series of offences in Wilmington on Friday
  • Comes as North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper warned of more suffering during the 'thousand-year rains'
  • Florence made landfall near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, at 7.15am - winds are now down to 70mph
  • Morehead City has seen 19.4 inches of rain since Thursday afternoon, and New Bern was hit by heavy floods
  • Officials warned the storm will 'get worse' and 18 trillion gallons of rain is forecast over the next seven days
  • Storm is now tracking south-west at 6mph, lifting huge amounts of ocean moisture and dumping it on land
.

I try to upkeep a positive perspective, I don't post much in tragedy threads, What Can I say to great loss and sadness, I can only watch from the outside and Wish them the best. :(

OMG, I heard about the fatalities but I hadn't heard about looters!

It was only a strong Cat 1 at landfall but I heard a rep from the NHC this morning say it will produce more rain and flooding than Harvey did last year. Choose your poison -- wind damage or water damage. Folks in the Carolinas will be getting lots and lots of water damage.

At least you seem to have your bourbon supply squared away. Priorities!

Your daughter is hot, Pigfarmer!

I don't know why YouTube keeps recommending softcore porn videos for me. :rolleyes8:

Florida man raises more than $600 on GoFundMe to drive to South Carolina and 'stands off' against Hurricane Florence's 85mph winds
  • Video shows Lane Pittman and his ginger mane posing valiantly in Mrtyle Beach, South Carolina, on Friday as Florence's winds blow up to 85mph around him
  • Rock music plays in the background of the video, that has more than 119,000 views, as Pittman waves the flag back and forth
  • The Jacksonville, Florida, resident actually launched a GoFundMe so that he could travel to South Carolina for his stunt
  • Pittman secured his funding in less than an hour, and the GoFundMe has raised $607

The city of Wilmington NC on the coast is still getting fierce weather and heavy rains, this is a seriously slow moving storm and big...My friend who lives there is riding out the storm, he just got power back an hour ago only to lose it again 10 minutes ago...

We are getting a lot of rain and some strong gusts of wind today...The power flashed off a couple times this morning but has remained on...This is nothing like those on the coast got, they were punched in the face so to speak in comparison but we have a flood warning and the rivers are growing fast...I may drive over to the river near me at the bottom of the valley and see if its reached the top of the bridge yet...If I go there this afternoon I'll take some pics...
