I am so dumb!

My 1998 Ford Ranger is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I am only the second owner and have had it since 2004. Today I was driving out in the field and got stuck in mud because I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. Got the tractor to push it out, and forgot to set the parking brake so my faithful old truck rolled into a fence post.

Well, call me runner up for the double dumbass award.

Instead of doing the sensible thing I do every year to winterize my motorcycle I did an insensible thing and managed to dump gas all over it. I washed it off thoroughly and dried it with a powerful blower I have and then - here's the dumbass moment - tried to start it. Oh no, it wasn't having any of that. I imagine the ignition switch was saturated. It's been drying a few days now, I pulled all the fuses and metered and cleaned them. Cleaned the relays too, wiped it all down with some silicone. Today maybe I'll go down there and see if the fuel pump triggers. Right now I just don't want to know, hoping I didn't jack up the ECM.

OK, I'll own up to the dumbitude.

I must've bumped the handlebar mounted kill switch without realizing it - you know, the thing I had completely forgotten about. Motorcycle's got 'em. Had the service manual and meter out but it was a damned online forum what gave me the idea. Oh Gawd. Click, all good.

I have a few things to put back together now ......... I'm going to call it a Deep Cleaning .... under the instrument panel ....

Maybe this thread will continue if any of us want to own up to silly **** we've done

I have the 1998 Mazda B2500 - has the Ford engine and most parts from a Ranger fit it. Looks identical as well. Really nice
truck - got about 185,000 mi on it now.
