Impeachment could hurt the campaigns of 6 active senators in the race

According to a recent article in Time Magazine, formal impeachment hearings would very likely force the active senators who are running for president to stay in Washington and miss out on the Iowa Caucus and the New Hampshire Primary.

Many political experts believe their campaigns will be seriously slowed due to the hearings:

"Given that calendar, Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar and Michael Bennet risk losing out on invaluable time on the campaign trail. And their top competitors, including Former Vice President Joe Biden and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, may be able to capitalize on their collective hiatus from the trail."

Others contend it will instead be an opportunity, though a very risky one:

"The Senate trial is potentially a huge opportunity for any of the Senators running for President to have a breakthrough moment. But if they fail to seize the opportunity, then they’ll really regret the days lost in the early states."

Should be interesting...

Realistically, only a couple of these candidates have a chance to win the Democratic nomination. That story is overblown.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
The impeachment circus is costing us good time to pass new laws that will benefit our country.
And why is no one not even a Republican calling for an investigation of Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden

So what happened to all the "Never Trumpers" who are supposedly in the Republican Party? Not one Republican voted with the Democrats for the impeachment investigation. The vote was purely along party lines with the exception of 2 Democrats who voted with the Republicans against impeachment.

What we have actually witnessed in politics is nothing short of a breakdown of standards and practices. This Modern Affluence that everyone is faultless and Pc culture demands perfect people, That's just Virtue signaling. Political correction, Wasn't always a bad thing, It wasn't always a weapon people used to harm careers. To this end, The way a lot of people have acted and treated one another since Trump came into office has been disgraceful. And yes, To be Fair, I am politically Aligned, I'm trying not to speak in a biased manner. All I'm saying is, Presidents, Calling people Names and Speaking disgracefully to other people and other foreign nations, It's not just Trump, Look Globally, The Face of politics has changed everyone. Everyone has become this outspoken opponent of everyone else. Almost no one in the entirety of global politics has poise and grace anymore.

The fresh Shiney veneer of diplomacy is fading, A whole lot of unacceptable Bullshit has found it's way to the seats of power to the world, Somehow, Corruption has become so rampant within the powers that be, That Incumbents and candidates don't even bother to hide the fact that they are assholes anymore. It's lead to a less professional government, And I think that reflects the corruption and greed within, I'm not one of those happy shiny people, hoping it will all work out, because we may as well get used to this, and even enjoy it. Because sadly, Look around us, Things won't always be this Awesome, It's only going to get worse.

I think what's happening in politics is another symptom of the the 'immediacy of communication' (IoC).
The basic political structure is the same - there's been rude nastiness and personality disorders going back to Day 1. Somewhere they kept the whopping bar bill from when they wrote the Declaration - damn. Must be the lubricant the axle of Democracy needs to turn.

Insiders leaking to the media. Here's a story from 1942. The only thing that kept it from becoming a potentially deadly serious threat to our efforts on the Pacific was the lack of immediate communication.

'IoC' made superstars from the Kardashians for no apparent reason. IoC made The Gang and AOC or whoever the F they all are - they've become characters not people. It's driving this impeachment foolishness - like TTSA you don't have to actually prove anything. Just throw it at the wall and enough will stick to do the job.

I agree completely.

That being said, though, I don't believe this lack of civility justifies impeachment. The founding fathers created the impeachment option to prevent a tyrant from taking control of the government. The fact that Donald Trump is abrasive and pushy or that Bill Clinton carried out dalliances in the WH does not justify impeachment. I believe it should all be left up to the voters, not Congress.

I think an analogy for this impeachment would be when you're watching a basketball game and there's only a minute or two left and the ref suddenly starts blowing his whistle for every possible ticky tack foul.

I don't really support a political lean anymore, I've pretty much lost faith in all of it. All I see in politics are a bunch of rich fat elitists who have lost complete touch with the common people, On every side, you look.

So it seems they are looking for anything and everything they can scrap together to impeach the President...More and more sounding like they are conspiring to overthrow a sitting President without true merit nor with true reason...

Democrats quietly debate expanding impeachment articles beyond Ukraine

House Democrats are debating whether to expand articles of impeachment to include charges beyond abuse of power in the Ukraine controversy, setting up a potential internal clash as the party races to impeach President Trump by Christmastime.

Members of the House Judiciary Committee and other more liberal-minded lawmakers and congressional aides have been privately discussing the possibility of drafting articles that include obstruction of justice or other “high crimes” they believe are clearly outlined in special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report — or allegations that Trump has used his office to benefit his bottom line.

The Democratic Party would be wiser to censure a Trump rather than impeach him. The Republicans in the Senate will never, ever impeach Trump.

The Democrats are using unelected staff to try to remove a duly-elected President...Staff questioning staff, unbelievable, how can this charade continue?...

The Democratic front runners seem to have imploded - or never really had the thrust to get off the ground in the first place.

I turned on MSNBC, CNN and FOX News for about two hours last night until the urge to hurl my own feces at the TV became almost irresistible. My wife had the presence of mind to jam my wallet in my mouth so I didn't swaller my tongue.
From what I saw having my wallet firmly clamped in my jaw serves the secondary purpose of keeping what little money I have safe from being redistributed.

What a f*****g clown show, except there is Hillary Clinton waiting in the wings to pick up the scepter and orb. Let's see - throw enough shit at the wall to invalidate the next election before it's held and then bring in the heavy hitter who has their hand on the till. Workable strategy.
