Is Nuclear war our only hope?

And you fired at me the other day in another thread all guns blazing.
And I fired back.
Very Dalai Llama like of us both.
Yeah sure but you're missing the main point here:

our 'firing up' is only words on an internet forum. I'm quite sure that if we were conversing face to face then guns would not be pulled.

Well I'd feel no need to pull a gun... Do you feel it's possible you would?

Kchoo

At Peace.
Viruses and the Elite having a cure would be a more Apt way of describing wiping out what the government calls Mindless eater's. What would we do then? Nukes would leave the world too ruined for any life to be sustained. The redundancy of actually using nukes would keep us from it unless someone was crazy. "Like Rocket Boy"
We have set off over 100 nuclear explosions in the oceans.... with no regard to how it would impact our ecosystems. ...
This, in the name of testing, and to simply demonstrate....

How much did we destroy?

Well... I dont know... does anyone?

I'm quite sure they'll know exactly the impact it will have on the local ecosystem. That's the whole point of a bomb, isn't it!? = to destroy....:)

Edit to add:

what with the ridiculous health & safety BS we in the UK (& no doubt many other countries) have to suffer; maybe a 'safe bomb' exists?

You know: 'can't leave the test site without a high vis jacket on'

bags of peanuts with 'may contain nuts' printed on the packet & sleeping pills that say: 'may course drowsiness':)

humans are fascinating

Yeah your probably right, I dunno, I guess I was just thinking a reset wouldn't be a bad thing for the long term survival of humanity, I guess i was being unrealistic, I just had this vision of all these past apocalypse movies. Then add 100 years. Like i said elsewhere, I am part of the machine, I work in IT, have tech running out my ears, as as about as distant from my soul and mindfulness as anyone can get. I get angry easy and so on. Throw me back to the stone age and i would have to reset or die. I just worry about what we don;t know. What was that big planet killer nuke the Ruskies had in the cold war? the TZar bom??? Their thinking was if Russia dies, so does everyone. It was a planet killer. I just worry about all the secret squirrel stuff these madmen have at their fingertips that we dont know about. Its like the Sr71, Jesus that was built in 1964, can we begin to imagine what the superpowers have stashed away now. It is the same as the Nukes. The Trinity test was 1945!!!that was 75 years ago.!
I just worry about what we don't know. thats why I said maybe Nukes are our best hope. I dunno what i a m talking about, had a really shit week.

No of course not, I realize that. But like you say it is just a forum.
What if we were political adversaries with a difference?
What if we were military advisors with a difference of opinion, advising world leaders who also had a difference of opinion.
What if we were world leaders with a difference of ideology, with the responsibility of millions of peoples lives.
How far might we go?

The point I am trying to make is this.
Until yours and my first reaction, and everyone on this planets reaction is to think, shit. poor notej, hope he is OK he sounds stressed, Ill send him a PM to see if I can help.
Instead of firing up. Which I did too.
I can't see a good future for us all long term.
You pointed out we want the best for our kids, I agree, I have four sons and 1.2 grand kids.
We sure want the best, and as good parents we do our best.
But, if our basic human nature is aggressive, well thats what we teach our kids.
Here is an add on Australian TV that illustrates my point perfectly about how we are flawed. How until we change at the most fundamental human level, we are in trouble. (in my opinion)
I first saw this and just froze...all I could think of was, hell, is this me, what other things have I taught them. I am a very self reflective person and very aware of my flaws.
