Kidney or lower back?

I've been having this pain. It's really bad. it's in my lower left back. At first, I thought It was just something that happened because I use the treadmill a lot. I'm on day 4, Day 4 of no bathroom use, it's worse when I lay down. I break out into these shaky sweats. and I'm also vomiting.

It's looking like it's not common back pain. What should I do?

Some things to know about me. I get a lot of exercises but that's just a treadmill. I do not eat healthily. I only drink soda. Ever. My thinking is. Some sort of stones. either way. It's like a sickness that starts in my lower back. and just worsens into pain and vomiting and shaky sweating.

I wouldn't worry about it, But everyone in my family at one point or another has had surgery to have bladder stones removed. except for me. at this same time, I don't know exactly what it would feel like If I had them, But something not normal is wrong.

Yeah that sounds like bladder stones alright. My brother had them one time and he said it was the worst pain he's ever experienced. People who don't drink water and instead drink diuretics like soda get them all the time. When you're not well-hydrated the concentration of minerals in your bladder forms crystalline stones that can block the urethral canal, which is dangerous. My brother said that one of his was the size of a peppercorn.

You'll have to go to the doctor. They may be able to break them up with ultrasound. My brother started drinking water regularly after this happened to him, and he's never had a problem like this again.

That's what I was worried about, But, I know your right about this. I'm thinking of going to the doctor after Sam gets home from work. I was hoping something else could explain it. But. Yeah. I'm pretty certain. And it is. It's bad pain, Like a deep painful ache that just worsens, I've definitely got to go to the doctor.

It sounds like kidney stones, something I have had. Drink plenty of water and cut out ALL caffeinated drinks (coffee and soda.) Those things really stir the stones up. I am sure the doctor will have you changing your diet.

Ultrasound and surgery are the last resorts to break them up. The doctors sometime give you a product called FlowMax to help the stones pass. I had to have laser surgery to break them up. Any procedure will call for using a catheter for a few days.

You are right, the pain can be intense. Good luck getting resolved.

Have you been Ill (vomiting) or fairly dark urine(blood in the urine)? I had some stones about 20 years ago. It was a fairly small attack and I passed most of them. I had to be "invaded" for some small stones fragments (not opened up) Basically a tube was inserted into my urethea and vacuumed .Very painful and not much fun. It was as close as a man will get to giving birth:Alien:

It's been, like a dark brown honey color. for a week. at the same time, It's not a clear color, It's like there is fat or some kind of gel in it. :(

I'm drinking cold water right now, It had been so long since I drank water. I had forgotten if you don't drink it often water has a sweet taste to it :) I've called my doctor, I have an appointment set for 2 today. I'm gonna get this checked into.

If you are vomiting you should go to the hospital immediately.

I have a doctors appointment set up for later today. I'm just waiting for Sam to get home from work. The only worry I have about the doctors' appointment is he's gonna try to give me some medicine or some kind of pill I'll never take.

Soda is really bad for your body. It effects the bubbles in your bones making them weaker, it's harmful to your pancreas, teeth and it literally dissolves metal. I cut back on my soda intake and have lost weight. I've limited how much sugar I consume.

I suggest that you do whatever your doctor tells you to do. At this point is sounds like you've got blood poisoning because your bladder is a toxic waste dump. If you don't fix it you'll die.

That's been a major worry of mine, The shaking, and sweating. I have a friend who has been on dialysis for a few years. He has told me how the blood can become toxic. I do know, That at this time. I'd be willing to take any medicine he gave me if it just meant I could relax, and get real rest.

I do have a question though. I'm willing to give up soda. Is coffee really bad for kidneys?

The sugar, artificial sweetener & creamer is unhealthy. Drinking water will clean your system. Years ago when I would drink too much I would get lower back pain. It was because of the stress I put on my kidneys.

Caffeine period is bad for you. Especially if you are having intense pain like that. You are in a bad way if you can’t remember the last time you drank water. Also cranberries and chocolate are no-no’s. It’s either pain or change your dietary habits.

It's kind of like I started trying to offset an unhealthy diet with a lot of treadmilling. It seemed to work at least from the outside perspective, for a long time. But now it's all catching up to me.

Here is the best way I can describe what this feels like. It's almost like, If that part of my back. or, my kidney. was literally a testicle, It's like some kind of pressure. Maybe even a blockage is just causing whatever my kidney does to just keep building this pain and pressure. It's the best way I can describe it. I'm not against healthier drinks. But giving up caffeine entirely won't be easy.

It’s called sucking it up. Once you pass a stone and continue your bad habits you can bet the farm another stone will eventually want to pass. It’s not like there is only one stone in your kidneys. You probably have multiples.

Giving up caffeine will give you headaches for a week or so. You need to decide, trying to get a handle on the stones situation or continue down the pain path.
