No wonder that you can arbitrarily reduce requirements for negative energy, which means you can drop negative energy to zero.

I was suggesting something like that to @Thomas R. Morrison, that one doesn't need negative energy for warp drive. Purely based on common sense. Warp drive has to bubbles, one is pushing one is pulling. Well, everybody knows that you can arrange horses either behind a cart to push it, or in front of cart to pull it. One doesn't need horses both behind and in front of the cart.

the public view on warp drive based on misinterpreting that picture is wrong. There is no energy dipole. the negative energy in Albuquerque's is around the SIDES. The energy term doesn't even tell you whether it is warping forward or back.
it works via frame dragging. the momentum term tells you that.

Bob Lazar's story is really shaky. We are two actual physicists who did a podcast on this after the JRE episode. Check it out.

It's sad that Knapp has hitched his wagon to Lazar.

why the no gentleman remark when i think no one here believes the lazar hoax? now get on to something real. i have made insanely big claims regarding solutions to Einstein field equations. i said i could walk anyone through ctensor in Maxima to prove them. that's real

These guys claim to be "two actual physicists?" Of course Lazar is a fraud (the empirical data and his shitty grasp of physics prove that), but this podcast host doesn't even know that antimatter has positive mass-energy (we know this from collider experiments because the antimatter particles are produced from the positive kinetic energy of the collision), so wtf kind of physicist could he possibly be?

Here's where he goes off the rails:

I'd really like to hear some more decisive commentary rebuking Lazar's story, from highly qualified physicists. Sadly, these guys don't cut it. Frustrating.

You walk anybody through your GR stuff ???

I was kicking and screaming for you to translate to English, so we all can understand and you refused?

Tell me what I need to do to be able to understand your GR stuff

Lazar only offered his interpretation of alien technology that he had seen. He never claimed that he is a physicist or that he correctly explains physics. He claimed to have an engineering degree not a physics degree.

So, according to Lazar's own narative, one can only take his observations, not his interpretations. Now the question is, are these observations within GR. I don't know, it's up to two of you @waitedavid137 and @Thomas R. Morrison .

All I can say is that he described this magnetic tripod that was pulling on space-time. They, allegedly, ripped one tripod leg out of a saucer and plugged it into a power supply. That single leg basically had same physical structure as the superconducting coil that scientists use. And when it was turned on it created a shoe-box size gravitational lens in which they put a candle and candle flickered like in a slow-motion. That was the story.

My problem with that part is that they would need at least ten Hover hydro-electric dams to produce enough space-time curvature. They wouldn't be plugging it into an ordinary industrial power outlet. They would need an overhead power grid line just to keep that single-leg going. And when one looks at Area 54 maps, there are no power grid lines converging on S4 Papua Lake.

What's old is new again thanks to people that want it that way. Reminds me of this:

Over and over again for eternity. Who plays the blob of light?

I think Bigelow, Knapp, Davis, DeLonge, Puthoff all take turns.

You are wrong on all of that. Lazar repeatedly claimed to have an M.S. from MIT in physics, and an M.S. in electronics from CalTech. I even have a video of Lazar at a UFO event in 1993 where, put on the spot to name any of his MIT or CalTech professors, named two -- he even spelled the unusual name of one of them. One turned out to be, in the real world, an instructor at Pierce College, and the other was Lazar's high-school tech teacher.

Stanton Friedman and Tom Mahood documented this stuff over 20 years ago. It's ridiculous to try to rewrite history. Good grief -- even the man who made Lazar famous, George Knapp, made in clear in a 2014 speech (in Denmark) that he (Knapp) thinks Lazar lied about these degrees.

Stanton Friedman - Articles: The Bob Lazar Fraud

Friedman: "Scientists leave trails. Lazar is NOT a scientist."

Lazar absolutely claimed to be a physicist, many times, and still does. It's the bullshit that will not die. Why does anyone believe anything he says? There is a mountain of evidence, all pointing to his being a complete fraud and con artist. None of the evidence supports his crackpot claims. None.

Its not that I refuse it's that I am no longer capable of communicating relativity at the layman level. I can try, but based on history know I will fail to convey the message.
    Pseudo Riemannian tensor calculus.
    Lazar is a hoax.

I actually started learning linear algebra, matrices etc. for this specific purpose. But obviously that's a long way away. :-(

A very long way yes. In all seriousness this is what I recommend. Get a regular physics guy like Jeremy AKA alien scientist or someone else on that level to look at what I'm saying to translate. No doubt you might get a snip it quote from Einstein like if you can't explain it in layman terms then you don't understand it yada yada but in reality Ema understood relativity so much better than him that we can now use killing vectors because of her, but so few understood her, that you don't know her name, just like you know Hawking but not Vaidya for the exact same reason. BTW Ema, not Albert, is why the few of us who understood her understand when an energy conservation law is implied and when it is not. Timelike isometry is what produces an energy conservation law.

    what's Emma's surname? and what's Vadya's name? :)

But in essence, are you saying that metric propulsion is within reach of mankind, say within 200 years?

Its already in reach in secrecy. We can take ET home. But anyway its Prahalad Chunnilal Vaidya and Amalie Emmy Noether.
