If someone looks into thier future, even minutes into the future, that observation changes the future because you looked at it, so with that in mind your actions following are different than if you had not taken that glance, so what you observed possibly will never happen...There are some who have the ability to minimize the changes and there are yet others who can create the circumstances to ensure the future they glanced at comes to fruition...

There was a time viewing device they took around the world for the elite to look into their future. The problem was the future was changing because they were taking actions that altered it via the foreknowledge. The story goes that the three primary components of the device were confiscated and stored in secret locations around the world. By viewing the future you apparently become a part of it as if generating a feedback loop.

Another time viewing device was Project Looking Glass. From what I've read it was the device depicted in the movie Contact. The rings shut-out the field and there were bismuth crystals in the center. Essentially it was a giant artificial pineal gland. Another story is the Chronovisor constructed by Benedictine Monks. They were supposedly able to build a time viewing device using a cathode-ray tube and pulled in an image of Jesus being crucified.

I've heard stories of gifted psychics having visions of friends being in accidents, but weren't able to save them with the knowledge.
