That is good news, I have enjoyed the Next Generation as well as DS9 and Voyager, its finally good to see a new series coming out from that century in the Star Trek timeline...I do not like the other new series, I do not want to see another Star Trek from that far back in the past in its timeline, Kirk and Spock are worn out in my opinion, as well as the era they existed...Time for the series to begin moving forward in the timeline, not backward...One thing that made Voyager such a great series was exploring completely new space and encountering aliens never dreamed before and having no way to get out of it, the series is rewatchable too...They need a series that moves forward in the timeline and breathes new life into the franchise, going back to Kirk's era isn't going to do it...

Plus with Spock, Scottie, and Bones all gone from us it's not the same.

All bets are off in the twenty-third-and-a-half century. The studio will have to hire someone just to keep track of the cameo appearances. Will Q show up to make life miserable for Picard now and then? Will they have to kill off Data? Maybe Captain Sysko will show up. Hope so. I like him.

Thanks for the link, Wade. There are some funny comments on that page. People sure do get their panties in a bunch over "canon" and such silly crap. It's a science fiction TV show, for Chrissakes!

I agree with that to a certain extent, like if the future crew went back in time and met the past crew maybe even Scott Bakula and his crew... although I've pretty much forgotten about that set up. Have a tongue-cheek episode over it.

The problem would be that if you go with idea it's very tempting to use trickery and get a little too cute with things. What I'm kinda alluding to is using old stock footage and what not to have different generations interact and do it without having to pay royalties.

Yeah I liked Sysko and the Dominion storyline, maybe Picard will have some confrontation with the Dominion...I also thought about the Borg, Voyager finished by decimating the Borg collective, but I doubt they are all completely destroyed...What I think may develop from that is the Borg are now splintered and fractured into groups, like the Kazon are...Then there's species 8472 who are poised to infiltrate Earth and the Federation...The Hirogen hunters may cause more trouble if they venture too close to Federation territory...

You are absolutely right, all bets are off for that century, there are a huge number of directions they can take this and I hope a couple more series develop from this to take the franchise more into the 24th century...Oh there's also the Starfleet from the 29th century, Captain Braxton, although they may not show him, there could be more visits from the future...I would actually like to see a series from the 29th century, although its quite a leap when there's still so much to do in the 23rd and a half century lol...

Does anyone remember the Voth, a space-faring saurian species Voyager encountered in season 3 episode 23 called
Distant Origin, they are a species that originated from Earth before humans evolved, but their government and general population reject that origin and almost destroyed Voyager to keep the truth from spreading...

They extremely dislike mammalians and consider humans a lower form of life, treat mammals as slaves, one of the reasons they reject the truth of evolving from the same planet as humans...Their technology is far advanced of anything the Federation has to offer, even the Borg are no match against the Voth, they also have a huge mother ship that can transport the complete Voyager ship into its belly, which they demonstrated in that episode...Humans are no match for this species, if they decided to travel to Federation space in numbers, they could conquer the Alpha quadrant rather quickly...

Here's Voyager beamed inside the mother ship:

Loved that episode! It's one of my favorite Trek stories ever. It appeared to me to be rather lavishly produced, well written and the Voth environment unusually detailed. I expected them to show up again, and even suspected there might be a bit of a revolution in the Voth culture, with a contingent finding Voyager again (in about fifteen seconds) for the series finale, featuring a momentous return to their ancestral home, returning Janeway and crew as a goodwill gesture.

The scenes where the Voth scientist and his assistant chase down Voyager and invade almost undetected is some vintage Trek.

The Hirogen were using a large communications network that spanned many sectors of space, I doubt this was their technology because it seemed too advanced for them although they used it...The original builders of that network or others who also may have been using it could have intercepted transmissions to the Alpha quadrant an decide to come looking for the Federation, because it was Voyager that disabled it and destroyed one of the arrays after communicating with Star Fleet...

The Distant Origin episode is one of the best Voyager had, there's also another one I thought was a good one, called Scientific Method season 4 episode 7 in which, out of phase aliens are experimenting on the crew, and have molecular markers controlling genetic mutations, killing many of the crew...

The Next Generation had a great episode in season 4, The Nth Degree episode 19, Barkley's mind is reconfigured from a probe's transmissions, making him create a new form of transport to take the Enterprise to a highly advanced alien species...Turns out they are peaceful and bring others to them in a way to explore the galaxy instead of venturing out of their area of space...I really enjoyed this one, maybe these aliens will return and visit Pickard...

Poor Barkley. Didn't he get turned into a spider or something in another episode?

Yes the crew starts de-evolving into prehistoric creatures with Barclay becoming a spider lol, that was in season 7 episode 19 called Genesis...Worf turns into a dino-klingon lol...
