Mass shooting in Texas.

Dundee

I imagine the people who were stormed by NAZIs and hauled off to concentration(death) camps believed as you do...
As the son of a family of ww2 veterans, Vietnam and full time soldier I take personal offense at that.
That little word Honorable clearly means nothing to you.

See you next week for the next thread about the next mass shooting in the US, and ill read the rhetoric about it not being a gun problem.
You people are crazy and are the only ones that can't see it, I am done here.

NAZIs were not what I would consider honorable... sorry...

I did say I do not care for guns personally...

Out of all the chat forums I belong to, strangely the UFO forum is the one where people on both sides act the most civilized and intelligent about this particular topic, even when they are angry at each other. I think everyone has now spoken their piece here and this thread is in danger of turning into a real shit storm.

I have not tried to inflame anything.

Im just here to visit about a tough subject.

I fully appreciate your comments, Dundee, and I have not really argued against you, as much as afforded another perspective.

I am not sure the gun control that worked in AU would work in the US...
Maybe it worked in AU because people wanted it, and until the majority wants it in the US, it will not happen here, and if it does, it wont happen easily...

I dont say I agree with assult rifles, but I know they wont give them up.

This is horrible, mental illness can be a scary thing. To know this man reached a point when nothing else mattered but his own hate. Not other peoples lives. Not even his own. The real tragedy here is not some failure of some psych evaluation. The real tragedy here is this human lost any kind of touch with reality and cared so little about other innocent peoples lives. The real tragedy here is a monster was able to prove without doubt that there was nothing human about him...

The problem is that in the US:

1. Mentally ill people aren't supposed to have guns.
2. Dishonorably discharged people aren't supposed to have guns (this surprised me).
3. People who are guilty of domestic violence aren't supposed to have guns (not too surprised at this one).

And yet somehow this guy got a gun legally.

About the only way to stop this is to ban atheism (he and from what we can tell the Las Vegas shooter were atheists).

If these two incidents aren't proof atheists are evil I don't know what is.

Constitutionally we can ban atheism, since they keep saying they aren't a religion they aren't protected by the 1st amendment.

You have to be kidding???

The problem is progressivism, which has infested psychology and caused societal upheaval.

Progressivism is Franklin School style social marxism. The point of social marxism is screw up society so bad it collapses. Literally.

This explains why the Left in general and Democrats particular are so frantic to kill off the middle class.

Now I am not normally one to suggest that feeding jews to Hitlers war machine was a good idea, or that the jews are the cause of all problems, but if we had given the members of the Franklin School back to Hitler instead of giving them sanctuary, modern progressivism wouldn't exist.

A ban on atheism would help as well.

The less social turmoil the fewer incidents like this occur, and there is a correlation between either the of number of progressives in psychiatry or the rate of anti-depressant prescription (take your pick) and the rate of mass murder.

Fact is about 2/3rds of US firearms are rifles. Only about 3% of all murders are committed with rifles. More people are killed with shotguns than rifles. You can do the "assault rifle" dance all you want but there is no numerical justification.

Further, an AR15 is not an assault rifle. It is a semi-automatic weapon that people for hunting.

Even further, the MSM is deliberately misreporting to make AR15s look bad:
Observe How the Media Describes Stephen Willeford's Firearm vs. Devin Kelley

The media describes the weapon used by the Texas shooter as an "assault rifle" and the weapon used to stop him as a "gun" or "rifle". Both weapons were AR15 clones.

As far as the "only the police can be trusted with guns meme":
After Night of Drinking, F.B.I. Supervisor Wakes to Find a Woman Stole His Gun
An F.B.I. counterterrorism supervisor is under internal investigation after a woman stole his gun following a night of heavy drinking in a North Carolina hotel, according to documents and government officials.

Colorado Springs gun store owner says Texas gunman passed 2 background checks

And the mental patient who was dishonorably discharged for beating his wife and child and had a cruelty to animals complaint passed two background checks.

I do think it is interesting how the news twists words to interpret the AR15 as only an evil thing...

But the part in that article about how these guns are designed for one purpose... To kill other human beings.... Is probably true...

People should fear government tyranny... It has existed grossly in history..

The church where the shooting took place won't reopen.
The Texas church where 26 were killed in a mass shooting will be permanently closed
The Texas church where 26 people were killed in a mass shooting will not reopen its doors, its pastor has said.

Pastor Frank Pomeroy of the First Baptist of Sutherland Springs told the Wall Street Journal that services would continue as usual in a community centre down the road.

“There’s too many [people] that do not want to go back in there,” he said of the church building, where a lone gunman opened fire on Sunday. Mr Pomeroy’s daughter was killed in the shooting.

Sorry Dundee, I also disagree with your stance.
Americans have a right to own guns for more than just hunting. They also own them for protection AND as a means of deterrence.
Multiple bullet magazines with semi automatic means you can shoot rapidly rather than more slowly. Works for hunting and returning fire if attacked by a crazed gunman.
Conceal and carry has reduced gun violence in many areas simply via the intimidation factor.
The big fail here was the fact that his discharge was not conveyed to the proper files so that he could not have LEGALLY obtain a gun. Also had a member had a conceal and caryy the victoms would had been far less...potentially.
And if it were not for the good Samaritan WITH A RIFLE, he might had killed many more people.
I do not have anything but a Stevens 22 rifle. But I am considering buying a hand gun and getting a conceal and carry license.

Name the allowed religions. So I can get in line..

Almost any is fair game including Shintoism, Buddhism, and Unitarianism. Godless Communism (progressivism) is not.

Unitarianism isn't really a religion it is more of a social club, but it is close enough.

Causing people to gather socially (half the reason for religion) is a social good.

People in isolation with few social contacts tend to go nuts.
