No comment here from our UK friends?

I thought royalty was like the Mafia and you couldn't really quit.

Lecture me on saving the planet and then Jump on Elton's jet for a holiday you pair of woke mismatched social shyte climbers. Everyone knows it, even his brother asked him if he was doing the right thing and the old racist Phillip told him that American actresses are for dating and not marrying. Classic.

Justin will no doubt be able to fill his woke tank and some with these two signals in his back yard.

They are pushing the boundaries by privatising the royal family in selling mugs and t shirts under Sussex Royal banner.

    We are not amused.

I nearly was married once, have been engaged twice and at this point in my life, i'm glad to be free of it after a long time of howling head on into a gale.

I was so low on the social ladder once that I actually became a step from the gutter. They wiped their fucking feet on me as they went over the kerb stone.

It's just not cricket to think you can half and half it with the firm when born into duty. I feel sorry for Harry as he is a puppy in her hands because he is desperate and would be single if he went the natural route.
The way Megan has used racism by the media is a joke as not one example can be produced. Twenty months and they complain of treatment that doesn't even hold a candle to what Fergie or Diana received for years.

They are lame and need to be surrounded and reported upon by those they choose.

    PR snow jobs all round.

I'm not sure what's stranger - that I remember this from MAD magazine from decades ago or that I could easily find it online. Philip is right and he's seen this before. He also lived through the Younger Dryas too .... I think .....

I guess what galls me reading about the “Royal Family” is that everything in their lives has been handed to them on a silver platter. Virtually everything is done for these people. They practically have someone wipe their bottoms for them. They will never have to worry about money or jobs. Yet it seems like they whine about how bad they have it in life almost daily.

Another thing that boils my blood is having someone like them lecture the lower classes on how to live. They take private jets to endless vacations (what do they need vacations for?) and then tell everyone to lower the carbon footprint on pollution. I would be one of those protesting to have the Royals abolished.

I'd be sad to see the Royals go. British Empire, centuries of history. Love the pomp and circumstance.
But Royals should be seen and not heard.

The problem with the British Royals of today is that they have forgotten or ignored a few of the rules. The first rule broken is not to draw undue attention to yourself. Especially negative, distracting attention. There were plenty examples of this the past year.

I will give Prince Charles this much credit. He realizes that the royal family is way too large and it needs to be trimmed down. There are too many members feeding at the trough. Many of these people need to find jobs and not to expect the state to support their lives. Whether this happens is up for debate but more than a few British citizens are talking about reducing the burden of the Royal Family and you can bet that makes the Royals a bit nervous.

I may be on the wrong page, but I don't think I am, Why hasn't anyone assumed that the issues Harry and Meg are having could be racial. I mean.

    ...

She got different treatment from the whole family, And It's not like there isn't anything to base this claim on. I mean hell originally This goes all the way back to Diana Who Notoriously wasn't liked by The queen just for being an outsider. It's definite a blood feud that goes back. I site Old conservative values and straight-up elitist racism. And Harry being a more modern non-conservative Is just willing to cut ties to that stagnant privileged legacy of hate.

I guess once she got past that storybook wedding she remembered where she put her moral indignation. Funny how it had been quiet up until then

That restores a little bit of faith that I wasn't the first person to consider these options. I feel it's time The royal family was absolved, It's just a group of elitists benefiting from old outdated traditions at this point... But You know to be fair, I'm am American, My opinions about all that don't really amount to a lot lol

The bottom line for me lays with public funding and before people say the income from the Duchy of Cornwall is a private venture by Charles, just remember that the barons stole it from the people hundreds of years ago which adds salt to a public funded wound. I haven't anything good to say about them other than that of the present Queen.

They tweeted it before telling the family which I know many here would not do because it is a sign of disrespect to the unit. I do have a feeling Harry has wanted out for some time and in some way I warm to that kind of behaviour but have zilch respect for a character who drains two point three million a year of public money through an institution that has made that possible only to turn their backs on it.

Plus he looks like a pubic headed librarian where she on the other hand is very attractive.

One point to make... good old Prince Harry couldn’t even tell his grandmother, the Queen, face to face that he and his wife wanted out. He had to go on social media for that. He and the wife seem to have short memories. That fancy lifestyle that they enjoy is due to his grandmother and father doling out the cash.

I could care less if they want to quit the royal family. They went about it the wrong way. I would imagine that Harry still wants the Queen to foot the bill. It’s what’s known as selfishness.

Possibly, But Consider that to my knowledge, The Queen has had people killed before, Even though they possibly could bring her up on charges. She could also most likely get away with it. She is a woman to fear... The whole social media thing, Gives someone a voice, and possibly a form of security with the whole thing being in the public eye.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit royal life COMPLETELY: Couple drop HRH titles, will REPAY $3.1m spent on Frogmore Cottage and won't receive any more taxpayers' cash as Queen says she they remain 'much loved family members'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have today announced they will drop their HRH titles and quit royal life. In a bombshell announcement tonight, the Sussexes said they were 'grateful for the support of the Queen as they embark on the next chapter of their lives' and promised to repay the £2.4million of taxpayers' money that they spent on Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their home in the UK as they look to spend more time living in North America.

The couple (pictured left in London on January 7), will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations and while they can no longer formally represent The Queen, they have made clear that everything they do, 'will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty', Buckingham Palace said. In a statement (right), the Queen said tonight's announcement followed 'months of conversations', implying this comes as no shock to the household and talks have been ongoing for some time. Harry, who is currently in the UK, and Meghan - who remains in Canada with their son Archie - will not receive any further public funding but will continue to receive funds from the Harry's father, the Prince of Wales, privately.

Her Majesty (pictured inset today at Sandringham) added she was 'particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become a member of the family'. The couple will become known as Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, from the spring. But it remains unclear how the couple's security arrangement will be paid for, though it is likely to be paid for out of the public purse.
