Companies have started microchipping their employee.
Australian, Swedish & U.S. microchipping employees at alarming rates!
A number of news outlets and conspiracy theorists have predicted that all Americans would be microchipped by 2017. That hasn’t happened yet but, there does seem to be a strong trend in place and microchipping is being sold as a “convenience” to employees. Recently, the Los Angeles Times reported that some US companies have started microchipping its employees. The Washington Post also reported recently that certain Swedish companies were microchipping their employees.

Australia has also been in the news under the headline ‘Australians embracing super-human microchip technology’, Australia’s premier media outlet news.com.au (News Corp Australia) reports: “It may sound like sci-fi, but hundreds of Australians are turning themselves into super-humans who can unlock doors, turn on lights and log into computers with a wave of the hand.” Is this a useful biohack or a rather a clever propaganda campaign that equates microchipping with becoming superhuman?

Fading day by day.
I can't wait, I nearly had this done a few months back but realized living in my little shed out the bush, I have no real tech to apply it to. But I will do it soon, found a registered body piercer in Melbourne that can inject them. I love the idea :)
Also Arduino compatible so I can invent my own applications.

Schools in southern China are requiring students to wear uniforms with microchips.
Chinese schools make pupils wear micro-chipped uniforms to thwart truancy
Schools in southern China are forcing children to wear uniforms embedded with computer chips that track their movement and trigger an alarm if they skip class.

More that more than 10 schools in Guizhou province and the neighboring autonomous region of Guangxi are now requiring students to wear “intelligent uniforms”, according to the state-run newspaper The Global Times.

Two chips, sown into the shoulders of school jackets, can sustain around 500 wash cycles and temperatures of 150 degrees Celsius, according to the Guizhou Guanyu Technology Company, their manufacturer.

On its website, Guizhou Guanyu boasts that the firm was established in response to the Communist Party's call for the creation of "smart campuses".

The uniforms allow teachers and parents to track students’ movement, sending out an alert if they are not present in a lesson.

Facial-recognition scanners at school gates match the chips with the correct student, meaning that any who try to swap jackets in order to bunk off will be caught.

According to The Epoch Times, alarms will also sound if a student falls asleep in class, while parents can monitor the in-school cashless purchases of their child and set spending limits via a mobile app.

Lin Zongwu, principal of the No. 11 School of Renhuai in Guizhou, said attendance has improved since the uniforms were first introduced.

He added that even though the chips continue to track students outside of school time, they choose not to check that data.

The news has sparked intense debate on Chinese social media platforms.

“I think it's alright,“ wrote Yi Zhi Sirius on China's micro-blogging site, Weibo. ”First, it avoids the jobless and homeless gangsters or potential criminals from entering the schools; second, the uniforms will come in handy in cases of locating missing students.“

Another user said: “It is horrifying. I imagine the parents agreed to this after being brainwashed.”

In June 2016, China’s Ministry of Education touted the “digitalisation of education” in its Five Year Plan, calling for the development of “smart campuses.”

Earlier this year, Chinese media reported that a school in Hangzhou was using facial scanners to track if students were paying attention in class, while another school in the same province uses a facial-recognition system when serving children lunch in the cafeteria.

Micro-chipping does not scare me as much as all of the data collection that already goes on through smart phones and web browsers and intrernet-of-things (IoT) devices. An RFID chip can only be read in very close proximity to a reader, its data carrying capacity is very limited, and the rate at which it is able to update its stored data is very low. Internet monitoring of people's personal data and behaviour transcends such limitations.

I just talked about this blatant disregard for privacy through technology being deployed for data collection, its unacceptable and I do everything I can to minimize what data my smart devices can collect...In a way many people already carry 'microchips' in the form of smart phones...

It appears some women under duress are being chipped and tracked as property...

Doctor Extracts RFID Chip From Sex Trafficking Victim Everyone Called Crazy

“Embedded in the right side of her flank is a small metallic object only a little bit larger than a grain of rice,” Dr. A recounted for Marketplace’s Dan Gorenstein.
“But it’s there. It’s unequivocally there. She has a tracker in her. And no one was speaking for like five seconds — and in a busy ER that’s saying something.”
“It was a small glass capsule with a little almost like a circuit board inside of it,” the 28-year-old doctor.

“It’s an RFID chip. It’s used to tag cats and dogs, And someone had tagged her like an animal, like she was somebody’s pet that they owned.”

In fact, the unnamed woman had been treated as a pet — a possession — by her boyfriend, who sold her for sex and pocketed the money she brought back.

anyone here remember why we all are already not chipped ?
laws were about to pass...
the company that makes the chips was doing very well based on the speculation
then some data got out there
you could implant the empty glass tube with no bad effects at all,
yet if that glass tube had an RFID chip in it, it would tend to form tumors around it (the data was from pets).
the stock price for that company fell and the laws just sort of vanished
now so many years later the RFID chip thing shows up again as if everyone forgot what they will do to you.
