I believe the were a lot of them made for service in WW II. C Yankee knows more about them I think.

If memory serves there were 27 Cleveland's......my book has them listed as Brooklyn class.

Makes you wonder how many wrecks there are down there. I'm xertainly of the opinion they should leave it be, leaving it as a War grave.
They are leaving them......they are just finding them. There are hundreds from WW2.
Every so often they do raise them or salvage them.
The Tirpitz comes to mind, where the salvage company started selling bits off for souvenirs...
