Mysterious Disappearance of the USS Cyclops

Given that it took Japanese bombing, Allied shelling and two torpedoes to sink the Langley, the loss of the ship could hardly be blamed on a "structural design flaw".

Its quite obvious it wasn't a design flaw......b006......but it was the ship that was built and once named & operated as the USS Jupiter.

Your logic works for the Independence class......but not here.

One of the other posters was suggesting the ships were cursed or suffered a fatal structural design flaw.

Don't see any evidence of that.

I wasn't talking about a curse.....but since three of four sister ships disappeared in the Caribbean area without a trace. I'd say that the class did have a fatal design flaw that was susceptible to conditions found in that area. Nothing supernatural in that possibility.....just a basic observation.

it was poison that killed them, no sinking frederick valentich comes to mind

There is no proof he drowned they never found his plane nor him. He certainly wasn't poisoned as you intimated in a previous post.

no no no! i just gave an example of an aircraft crash that looks to be ufo related, search for it in the web

ok....so where did he crash?

Bear in mind I was talking about the "Bermuda Triangle".....not the entire world.

Capt. Mantell's crash is supposedly UFO related.....but it wasn't in the triangle either.

That's not true.

The Jupiter survived.

It looks that but the USS Jupiter was rebuilt in to the first Aircraft Carrier of the United States Navy and was renamed the USS Langley. Then in 1936 she was again converted in to a Seaplane Tender but retained her name but not her rank and became the AV~3.

Fate struck for the former Jupiter on February 27, 1942, while ferrying fighter planes to Southeast Asia. The langley was discovered and then attacked by Japanese aircraft and hit by five bombs. She was abandoned, and after her surviving crew members were rescued, the USS Langley was scuttled by torpedoes fired by her escorting destroyer.

She went down fighting.
