Myterious Himalayan Towers

These towers in the Himalayans have no written history. From carbon dating the wood beams within the towers they've been dated between 600 to 1000 years old. Some were constructed around the time of Genghis Khan and the conquest of Asia. The entrances can be up to three stories high and the window slits appear to be for archers. Their purpose is unclear and the theories include: storage, defensive, beacons & prestige between villages. Many of the towers were built in a star shape pattern which makes them more resilient to earthquakes.

Watchtowers? Who knows what lurked there 1000 years ago...other than that, don't know what to think about this.

There's hundreds of them. It shows the interior of a few of the towers and it looked like the upper part was intentionally closed off with wood beams as if concealing something. One of the uses was/is to place urn jars in the towers. They're small and reminded me of the grenades in the movie 300.

The last time any of them were carbon dated was in 1949, more research and better testing needs to be done...They could be older than that, could be two or three thousand years old...I think escavation around a few of the more dilapidated ones may also give a better idea of their history...

That sounds like a good idea....assuming the government allows it.

It would be best if they contacted Bhutan....it looks like some are there.

I agree, they are fairly friendly towards Americans, as far as I know, and would like a small injection of American money in return for research on their lands...The knowledge gained would benefit all involved...
