That is fine with me, however the arsehole who put him up to it and provided the rifle needs to be behind bars. If nothing else, he endangered Rittenhouse and others by doing so.

I hadn't heard that part of it. I did hear the rifle was kept at home in a safe otherwise.

Brave jurors. The pressure on them to convict was intense.

Most recent story on it that I read, is that Rittenhouse had a 19 year old friend named Dominick Black who encouraged Rittenhouse to help "stand guard" and provided him the rifle, which was earlier purchased by Black. I remember early on people were saying his mom provided it to him and encouraged him to go to Kenosha, which hopefully is not true.

19-year-old charged with illegally supplying gun to Kyle Rittenhouse (nbcnews.com)

According to this story, Black made a "straw purchase" of the rifle on behalf of Rittenhouse, a huge felony in all 50 states. ATF, are you listening?

What are you suggesting the ATF should be doing? The straw purchaser has already been charged.

Far as I know, those are just state charges. ATF would bring additional federal charges.

Brandon should apologize for labeling the boy as a white supremacist, I hear the family is suing Brandon for characterizing him in such a way...

    ...

Biden ducks question about whether he stands by calling Kyle Rittenhouse a white supremacist

President Biden Friday avoided addressing whether he still thinks Kyle Rittenhouse is a white supremacist, on the same day jurors came back with a verdict of not guilty on all counts in the Illinois teen's murder trial. Biden, who says he did not watch the trial, spoke briefly about the jury's decision.

Biden had tweeted during the presidential campaign a video focusing on white supremacism that included Rittenhouse. Asked Friday if he stood by characterizing Rittenhouse as a white supremacist, Biden refused to answer and instead just said he stands by the jury's conclusion.

"Look, I stand by what the jury has concluded," Biden said. "The jury system works and we have to abide by it."

Following the verdict, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., demanded Biden "publicly apologize" to Rittenhouse for the statement he made in 2020. "Joe Biden needs to publicly apologize to Kyle Rittenhouse," Cotton tweeted. Rittenhouse would have faced a mandatory life sentence if found guilty and convicted of first-degree intentional homicide.

However, Biden did make a comment about the verdict.
Biden calls for calm but says Rittenhouse 'not guilty' verdict leaves him 'angry and concerned'
"While the verdict in Kenosha will leave many Americans feeling angry and concerned, myself included, we must acknowledge that the jury has spoken," Biden said. "I ran on a promise to bring Americans together, because I believe that what unites us is far greater than what divides us."

Implies that the jury got it wrong while claiming to be a uniter.

That implication coming from the president only dumps gasoline on the fire and through his deeds has shown he only further divides this country...Worst president ever...

Kyle Rittenhouse verdict makes sense if you ignore biased trial coverage on MSNBC, CNN

If Americans actually watched the homicide trial of Kyle Rittenhouse and did not listen to the biased and hyperbolic coverage on MSNBC and CNN, they understood completely Friday’s "not guilty" verdicts on all criminal charges.

The witnesses and videotape footage corroborated the account given by the accused
when he took the stand and relived how he reasonably feared he was in imminent danger of death or grave bodily injury when he opened fire with his weapon.

Jurors did not believe the prosecution’s anemic argument that Rittenhouse provoked the encounters and forfeited his right to defend himself. It was, in a word, a "crock."

Instead, what the jurors saw and heard was a 17-year old being targeted and hunted down by an angry crowd with the shout, "get him…kill him!"

As he tried to escape, Rittenhouse was pelted with rocks, kicked in the head, attacked and assaulted. One rioter threatened to kill him and grab his gun. Another tried to bludgeon him with a heavy skateboard. Still another took aim at him with his loaded pistol. Only then did Rittenhouse exercise his right to defend himself.

The Tweeter is an ignoramus, but far worse was Biden making the same accusation as you noted above.

Why would the President be angry and concerned about our judicial system working?...To me he is promoting further unrest and violence...

I really hadn't thought about Biden much in the past. All I knew about him was that he was supposedly gaffe prone. But I never regarded him as lacking integrity. That all changed after he became President.

I didn't know anything about Biden until he was vice president with Obama and back then he seemed fairly moderate, center/left, and that was fine...He campaigned in the last election as center/left, and that's fine, I voted Libertarian anyway...But damn, after he got elected and sworn in he took a hard left turn that's turned a lot of people sour of him and his administration, including many of his moderate supporters...

I hear what you are saying. Sounds like there is an exception for him to have the rifle related to hunting, which in that area is something to consider. Hunting is really huge, far more so than around here. As for his friend who made the purchase, who the hell knows. It'll be a passing article that goes unnoticed some weeks from now. I imagine the details relate to a private sale, if there was one.

Barring some legitimate purpose - you work a farm or a ranch, you're out in the woods doing whatever - I can understand open carry. I personally don't think much of ARs and to show up in a residential area with one is beyond stupid and Rittenhouse didn't invent that, he's a gullible kid. I am surprised they didn't find him guilty of some lesser charge related to the firearm. Also surprised he didn't accidently kill someone else.

That said, the kid clearly knew how to use it and wouldn't have if they had left him alone. Like I said, leaving the person with the rifle alone is my policy. Much like 'let the Wookie win' - just being practical.
