Mexico seizes 380,000 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal

Mexico has seized 380,000 boxes of Corn Flakes, Special K and other Kellogg’s cereals, claiming the boxes had cartoon drawings on them in violation of recently enacted laws aimed at improving children’s diets.

While Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies are clearly not the worst thing Mexican children eat, the laws prohibit food companies from using marketing tactics that might appeal to children, like cartoons or mascots.

Mexico’s consumer protection agency also said Friday that the cereal boxes did not clearly state nutritional values like calories, fats, salt or sugar, or didn’t have the proper warning signs for levels of those ingredients that are considered excessive.

Agents raided 75 sales outlets and seized pallets of Kellogg’s products there, but the vast majority of the seizures were carried out at a warehouse north of Mexico City.

Kellogg’s did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Ahhhh. The Post. I do enjoy it .........

We can cut him some slack on the groundhogs. One bit Bloomberg, De Blasio wound up actually killing one. I don't think mayors ought to be handling the Marmota monax. They like rodents so much there are pleeeeeeeenty of them at hand. We'll see what Adams does shortly. My guess is he'll appoint it to some city job that pays well as he seems to be doing for his own family members.

The former mayor announced he will not be running for governor. NY Post photo composite
With Bill de Blasio announcing he won’t be running for governor, how will the ex-mayor make a living? Some suggestions:

  •  Playing Wally the Green Monster, Red Sox mascot
  • Office intern for AOC
  • Mattress tester for Tempur-Pedic
  • Hot-air balloon inflator
  • Times Square Big Bird cosplayer
  • Zookeeper (but not allowed in groundhog exhibit)
  • Stretching coach at the Prospect Park Y
  • Horse carriage driver
  • Reality show idea: Buddy road trip with former governor Andrew Cuomo
  • Agent of the City
  • Opening up his own marijuana shop: Toke of Two Cities

Disabled Tongan, 57, swims for 27 HOURS on eight-mile journey after being swept away by tsunami: Hero refused to shout for help in case his son - who's now missing - died trying to save him

Lisala Folau (inset centre) was swept away when a tsunami triggered by a volcanic eruption (inset top-left) hit Atata - a small island with a population of 100 near the Tonga capital Nuku'alofa - about 6pm on Saturday. Three workers at a resort on the island are still missing. But Mr Folau miraculously survived (his journey pictured main) by letting the waves carry him for more than 15km, finally reaching the mainland at 10pm on Sunday. He drifted to the island of Toketoke for about 2km overnight, before reaching nearby Polo'a at 9pm on Sunday and Nuku'alofa an hour later. Almost all of the buildings on Atata were destroyed and the island's entire population of about 100 people have been evacuated.

It's hilarious how most politicians turn into the opposite of what they claimed to be on the campaign trail. Bush and Trump ran massive deficits, Obama presided over record numbers of deportations.

A few years ago I heard Rex Tillerson talk about a huge oil and/or natural gas find in the Black Sea that Exxon hoped to develop. Trump fired him - too close to Putin. Go figure. Can't find mention of that but several very current references to such a find pop up readily

Turkey Finds Enormous Gas Field In The Black Sea — But Tricky Process Ahead

You wonder why all this invasion lunacy is going on now I doubt it's over some historic Russian claim of hegemony, probably more about maintaining their dominance as energy providers. Look at where Crimea is situated.

Was unaware of these details.

However, Cytron-Walker, Cohen, and the third remaining hostage saw that Akram was out of position, knew an exit was nearby, and positioned themselves nearby, one by one. Akram then ordered them to get on their knees,* and Cytron-Walker got him a glass to drink. As Akram drank, Cytron-Walker yelled at the others to run and threw a chair at Akram while the others fled towards the exit. All three hostages escaped, and no shots were fired by Akram. Video taken outside the synagogue by WFAA just before 9:15 p.m. showed the hostages sprinting out of the building while being followed by Akram, who then withdrew into the building. Cytron-Walker credited security courses he had taken for helping the captives figure out the right moment to flee.

After the hostages fled the building, the FBI Hostage Rescue Team was seen surrounding another part of the synagogue. At around 9:21 p.m.,[the FBI Hostage Rescue used a stun grenade to attempt to disorient Akram. Electricity was cut to the synagogue, and agents breached the building at around 9:22 p.m. Within seconds, the agents shot Akram multiple times, killing him.

Arnold just drives over the cars now...:ohmy8:

LAPD launch probe after woman is injured in Sunset Boulevard crash involving Arnold Schwarzenegger, 74: Rolled his monster GMC Yukon over a Prius and then onto a Porsche Cayenne after lunch in Santa Monica with son Patrick and daughter Christina

Arnold Schwarzenegger was involved in a car crash on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles that involved four vehicles and left his enormous black SUV perched on top of another car, leaving one other driver with a head injury. The former governor, 74, was driving his GMC Yukon SUV and was about to turn onto busy Sunset Boulevard, about half-a-mile from his home in the Brentwood, when he smashed into a red Prius at 4:35pm. The Prius was said to have been making a U-turn in the road when the collision occurred. The impact of the crash was so severe that the Prius' airbags deployed as a result of the collision. The star's SUV then started to roll onto a white Porsche Cayenne that was directly behind Schwarzenegger's. Law enforcement are conducting a full investigation into how the accident occurred. Although no tickets have been issues, one police source said they believed the accident was the fault of the Terminator actor, who was attempting to make a left turn but did not wait for a left-turn arrow at the intersection of Sunset and Allenford Avenue.

NY Times: Biden contributing to ‘own political woes’ by downplaying inflation, economic anxiety

(Excerpt)

The Times reported last week that President Biden has a lot of work to do in order to potentially rescue his presidency from failure. Columnist Bret Stephens suggested the president should be focusing on answering American needs instead of liberal wishes.

"Universal Pre-K might be popular. But Americans have spent the past two years suffering from the government’s inability to meet basic needs," he wrote. "Public health. Price stability. Safe streets. Secure borders. Functioning supply chains. Public schools that open their doors to children."

Voters have been increasingly disenchanted with Biden and his economic agenda, which has in part been blamed for his low approval rating. A recent New York Times focus group of indenpendent voters ripped the president for not doing more to address the economic crises.
