FBI Trump raid exposes Washington’s secrecy shams

(Excerpt)

In reality, the Presidential Records Act is the Presidential Damn-Near-Perpetual-Secrecy Act. Former presidents pocket multimillion-dollar advances for their memoirs while their records are mostly quarantined for decades from the citizens they often misgoverned.

The Nixon Library did not release the final batch of his secret tapes until 2013 — 39 years after Nixon was driven from office. The Lyndon B. Johnson Library delayed releasing the final batch of his secret tapes of presidential conversations until 2016 — 47 years after he left office.

Obama White House lawyers repeatedly invoked the Presidential Records Act to “delay the release of thousands of pages of records from President Bill Clinton’s White House,” Politico reported. At the end of his presidency, Barack Obama trucked 30 million pages of his administration’s records to Chicago, promising to digitize them and eventually put them online — a move that outraged historians.

More than five years after Obama’s presidency ended, the National Archives webpage reveals that zero pages have been digitized and disclosed.
People can file requests via the Freedom of Information Act (a law Obama helped wreck) to access Obama records, but responses from presidential libraries can be delayed for years, even more than a decade, if the information is classified.

The FBI raid was also purportedly justified because Trump possessed classified documents. Classification is one of DC’s biggest con games. A federal commission headed by Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan lamented in 1997, “Secrets in the federal government are whatever anyone with a stamp decides to stamp secret.” Yet any information that is classified is treated as a political holy relic that cannot be exposed without cursing the nation.

Did the FBI conduct a massive, heavily armed raid on a former president’s home merely because of paperwork violations? Is the FBI too busy crusading against Trump’s paperwork errors to drop the hammer on the cavalcade of crimes documented on Hunter Biden’s Laptop from Hell?

Unless the feds can quickly reveal proof of far more serious Trump crimes, Monday’s raid was one of the most prominent outrages in recent law-enforcement history.
Even New York’s former Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned, “DOJ must immediately explain the reason for its raid & it must be more than a search for inconsequential archives or it will be viewed as a political tactic and undermine any future credible investigation.”

I think this speaks volumes and kind of shows this raid to be likely a politically motivated stunt...

Fratty and out of touch.
The DNC strategy backing Trump Republicans makes me think this raid is another tactic to provoke him to run. A risky strategy that could backfire, maybe we just saw that happen. DTs personality is his greatest advantage and greatest weakness.
What scares me is that I'm convinced the Republicans will win back both the House and the Senate in Nov. And they'll probably keep gaining statehouses where the Democrats have been dominant, like here in Virginia. Once the Republicans have acquired this new power, they're going to retaliate against the Democrats with a vengeance. It will be political shock and awe. I don't understand the liberals who are being so snarky and playful about this. It represents the beginning of a very ugly and dangerous period for our nation.

America is owed an explanation for the Mar-a-Lago search. Instead we have only silence – and it is damning, says FBI veteran JAMES GAGLIANO

Partisan ideologues running Biden's DOJ are shockingly quiet after Mar-a-Lago: JAMES

Committed partisan ideologues in the upper echelons of the FBI and DOJ view the 45th president as more than just a politician with whose policies they disagree with. They see Trump as a direct threat to the republic and they are determined to stop him by any means necessary. The FBI agents searching Mar-a-Largo were said to be seeking presidential documents in Trump's possession that belong in the National Archives. But a knock-and-announce warrant service to recover records is the enforcement equivalent of using a sledgehammer to kill a fly. After the calamity of errors, missteps and downright partisan influence infecting the FBI's Russian collusion investigation and now this, there is a sense that government's instruments of power are being unleashed on political enemies. Trump haters scream that no one is above the law, and they're right, but no one is below it either, and the politically-biased leadership in the FBI and DOJ only appear interested in applying the law in one direction - against Trump.

The total lack of any objective media in a world now equipped with virtually instantaneous communication scares me more than politicians do.

Three people were killed Wednesday when a house exploded in the southern Indiana city of Evansville, authorities said. Dave Anson, chief deputy coroner for Vanderburgh County, told The Associated Press that the identities of the people who died would not be released until the next of kin has been notified. Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Connelly said a total of 39 houses were damaged by the explosion at around 1 p.m. He said the department has not confirmed how many of the houses were occupied when the explosion happened because 'some were too unstable to enter.'

Fauci is BOOED as he throws out first pitch at Seattle Mariners after joking in interview that HE created COVID in his kitchen

Dr. Anthony Fauci was booed by baseball fans on Tuesday as he threw out the first pitch in a Seattle Mariners game. While the COVID czar did improve his throwing arm from his botched 2020 first throw at a Washington Nationals game. Fauci has seen a massive dip in his popularity -- since his meteoric rise to becoming a household name during the beginning of the pandemic -- as over half of independent voters want him gone. Fauci said in July he would be leaving his post by the end of President Joe Biden's term as it becomes 'more difficult to get people to listen.'

Quite distasteful 'joke' given that quite a few have died from it.

FBI 'recovered 11 sets of classified documents from Mar-a-Lago' and waited three days to raid after warrant was signed: Files included 'top secret' papers, handwritten notes and 'information about the President of France'

Some of the documents were marked 'top secret' and are meant to be kept in specialized government facilities, the Wall Street Journal reported after seeing a copy of the search inventory. Agents recovered 20 boxes in total from the Florida estate, according to the report, with the rest including handwritten notes, the grant of clemency of Roger Stone and a file with 'information on the President of France'. The former president took to Truth Social on Friday morning to compare the latest allegations to 'Russia, Russia, Russia', impeachment and the Steele Dossier, and again suggested that law enforcement could have 'planted' evidence. A report from News Nation then claimed that agents discovered 'boxes everywhere', including some papers labeled top secrets, from two areas including a 'storage room near a pool' and his 'personal office above a ballroom'. The report did not specify the ballroom or pool where the documents were found, but did state that some of the papers had Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information - the highest level of classification.

It's ironic that Trump is being done for something very similar to what he accused Hillary Clinton of doing. Lock him up.

I might feel differently if I lived in that country. Not about Trump, but about the way the FBI and others are bulldozing their authority. I know it's how I feel right now about my own political authority and the RCMP.

Trump wanted to do the same thing, in his own words.

I don't really follow USA politics that closely, but I do remember hearing about that.

He did those kind of things years before he ever ran for president. I can remember a huge media frenzy between him and Rosie O'Donnell. He came across as a spoiled little child. I think it lasted for years. He's an all controlling ego maniac. Always has been.
