First Muslim woman in Pennsylvania House says invoking Jesus is a 'protest' of her religion

The first Muslim woman to be sworn in to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives said that the prayer immediately proceeding the ceremony earlier this week was a “protest” of her religion.

The prayer by Republican Rep. Stephanie Borowicz in front of the Pennsylvania legislative chamber mentioned Jesus 13 times.

“God forgive us, Jesus, we’ve lost sight of you,” the prayer went. “I, Jesus, am your ambassador today.”

Movita Johnson-Harrell said that although Borowicz did not specifically mention Islam or Muslims, she said she cited a Bible verse Borowicz at the end of the prayer that is considered a “condemnation” of non-Christians.

“Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, Jesus, that you are Lord,” Borowicz quoted.

“That was protest. That was not an invocation. That was not a prayer,” Johnson-Harrell told People magazine. “It was a protest to the first Muslim woman coming to the House of Representatives.”

Chicago attorney calls for Jussie Smollett to be RE-CHARGED with staging attack and demands investigation into whether city's top prosecutor interfered in decision to drop felony charges against him

A Chicago attorney has filed a petition to investigate if Cook County State's Attorney, Kimberly Foxx (top), interfered in the Jussie Smollett (right) case. Saani Mohammed said the actor could be re-charged if a special prosecutor found there was interference in the decision to drop the charges against him. Chicago police union chiefs also called for Foxx to step down after prosecutors dropped 16 felony counts against Smollett. Police chiefs associations announced they passed a 'no confidence' vote against Foxx during a joint news conference yesterday afternoon. The announcement came as the city confirmed Chicago will sue the Empire actor for the costs of police overtime spent investigating his claims that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack - which prosecutors say were false.

Brazilian officials make contact with an isolated indigenous tribe in a rare expedition to reunite members with some of their relatives and ease tensions with a rival group

Brazil's agency for indigenous peoples, FUNAI, said on Friday that a team of nearly two dozen reached 34 members of the Korubo tribe (pictured top right and left while being vaccinated by FUNAI officials) in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. The expedition included relatives of the Korubos and also aimed to avoid a possible conflict with the Matis tribe living about 12 miles away.

The Matis tribe repeatedly requested FUNAI's intervention in the case because they believed the isolated Korubos wanted revenge, mistakenly believing their relatives had been killed by the Matis. The main concern of FUNAI analysts was that the isolated group would not believe that the Korubos in the expedition were in fact their relatives, which made them call the mission 'high risk'.

Netflix walruses fell to their deaths because they were being chased by polar bears NOT because of climate change according to zoologist who accuses the channel of ‘tragedy porn’

Footage in Sir David Attenborough's Netflix documentary Our Planet showed walruses plunging off 250ft high cliffs in northeast Russia (right). The animals were said to be making the dangerous climb to higher ground to escape receding sea ice due to warming seas.

But a leading zoologist has accused filmmakers of using 'tragedy porn' and 'emotional manipulation' to gain viewers. Susan Crockford, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, claims the animals were more likely to have been driven over the cliffs after being chased by polar bears. She cited a famous incident in 2017 near where the Netflix series was filmed, where 20 polar bears chased walruses over to top of cliffs at Kozhevnikova Cape, Ryrkaypiy, in eastern Russia.

Japanese F-35 fighter goes missing over the Pacific
A Japanese F-35 stealth fighter, one of the world's most-advanced warplanes, has gone missing over the Pacific Ocean, Japanese defense officials said.

Officials said the single-engine jet from Japan's Air Self-Defense Force was on a training flight with three other F-35s when contact was lost Tuesday evening, public broadcaster NHK reported.

The planes, based at Misawa Air Base on the northern tip of the main Japanese island of Honshu, were about 135 kilometers (84 miles) off the east coast of Aomori prefecture when contact was lost, officials said.

The pilot of the single-seat fighter is missing, and a search is underway, according to Japan's Defense Ministry.

No problems with the aircraft were reported before it went missing, NHK reported.

Japan's first squadron of the $100 million fighter jets went operational just 11 days ago, with about a dozen of the jets forming the 302nd Squadron at the Misawa base, according to a report from The Diplomat.com.

The Japanese jet, a F-35A model, would be the second lost to an accident. A US Marine Corps F-35B crashed in Beaufort, South Carolina, in late September. US defense officials in October said a faulty fuel tube was the likely cause, and all F-35s operated by the United States and its allies were temporarily grounded for inspection.

Japan is one of 14 countries in the F-35 program, according to the plane's maker, Lockheed Martin Corp. Tokyo announced in December it would be buying 147 of the planes, making it the biggest customer for the aircraft besides the United States.

At present, some of the Japanese F-35 are assembled in the United States and others at a plant in Nagoya, Japan. It has not been revealed where the plane that went missing Tuesday was built.

The F-35 comes in three versions. The F-35A, like the one Japan lost contact with Tuesday, is the one designed for air forces to use off conventional runways. The F-35B, like the one the US Marine Corps lost, is designed for short takeoff and vertical landings. The F-35C model is the US Navy's version, designed for use off its aircraft carriers.

Japan has announced plans to buy 105 of the F-35A models and 42 F-35Bs, which it could eventually use to turn its Izumo-class helicopter destroyers into small aircraft carriers, its first since World War II.

The F-35 stealth jet has been called the most expensive weapons system in history, and its development was beset by multiple delays before it was deemed combat ready.

The first US combat mission conducted by an F-35 happened in October when a Marine Corps jet launched off the amphibious warship USS Essex struck targets in Afghanistan. In May, Israel announced it had conducted the first combat missions using the F-35 but offered few details.

In the Pacific, South Korea and Australia have joined Japan in acquiring the jets.

The F-35's advanced electronic warfare suite can allow seamless integration among users, making the planes strong counters to China's growing fleet of stealth aircraft, including the J-20 and J-31.

They found the wreckage. It did go in the ocean.

The three possibilities I see are:
1. Catastrophic failure.
2. Failure of electronics (with loss of communications)
3. Oxygen generator failure (flew it into the water).

It was the first Japan assembled F35.
Unfortunate incident.
At least the plane didn't fall into "enemy" hands.
